Manchester United 'ready to offer Brandon Williams major new contract' with defender set to receive bump in £4,000-a-week wage after impressing boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

* Brandon Williams is set to be offered a bumper new deal at Manchester United
* The 19-year-old has cemented himself as a first-team player at Old Trafford
* Williams currently earns £4,000 per week but has reportedly earned new terms

Manchester United are set to offer Brandon Williams a new contract to reflect his status as a first-team player, according to reports.

The 19-year-old currently earns £4,000 per week but United chiefs are in talks to improve this significantly, with the defender impressing boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer throughout the campaign.

Williams only agreed his latest contract in October after playing twice for the first team but club chiefs are ready to renegotiate a deal with the teenager having progressed rapidly since then, according to The Athletic.

Manchester United starlet Brandon Williams is set to be offered a new contract. The 19-year-old defender has impressed boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (left) this season

The promising left-back made his debut as a substitute in Carabao Cup win over Rochdale before making his first start in the away fixture against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

Since then, Williams has pushed on and proved to be an important piece in Solskjaer's set-up, making 26 appearances, which include nine Premier League starts, this season.

The youngster has shown his versatility, too, having played comfortably anywhere on the left wing and has even featured on the right-hand side when called upon.

The report goes on to suggest that Williams will play an important part in United's run-in this summer once the campaign resumes later this month.

The defender has received high praise from his manager following his impressive display in the 4-0 win over Norwich earlier this season.

Solskjaer said: 'His hunger is a lesson for everyone who wants to be a footballer, the attitude he's showing. It'll be up to him, myself and the club to keep him that hungry. I don't expect him to change because he's got the heart for it.'

He has also made an impact at international level, with England boss Gareth Southgate keeping a close eye on his development.

Williams has impressed for England Under 20s this year and is expected to be called up to the Under 21s by Aidy Boothroyd.

Williams established himself as a first-team player after breaking into the squad this season. Williams (No 53) scored in United's 3-3 draw with Sheffield United back in November. Williams has enjoyed a breakthrough season at United, making 26 appearances so far

It's been a memorable year for the teenager and he showed he was willing to share his success with the ones he loved most.

Last month Williams generously splashed out on a £40,000 Mercedes 4x4 for his dad's birthday, with the heartwarming moment captured on camera.

The short clip begins with Williams' father making his way out to the street and spotting the new car parked in front of him as family and friends shout 'happy birthday!'.

He points at the shiny Mercedes and asks: 'That one? Seriously? I've gone all shaky.'

His dad says: 'Are you joking me? Are you taking the p***?!', before Williams tells him: 'No, go check it out'.

The heartwarming clip was shared by Twitter account @utdreport on Thursday and quickly went viral with over 7,500 retweets and 58,000 likes.

Williams previously revealed that his family didn't believe him when he was called up to the first-team squad for a Champions League trip to PSG last season.

'It was just excitement. I rang my family straight away, but they didn't believe me,' he said.
