Default Re: [2020-2021] Manchester United ~ Transfer Rumors

Chris Smalling could become the FOURTH Manchester United player in 12 months to swap Old Trafford for the San Siro as Inter Milan 'join rivals Roma in race for £23m outcast'

* Inter Milan joined the race to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling
* The 30-year-old centre back impressed on loan with Roma in Serie A this season
* United have reportedly demanded a £23million fee to sell Smalling permanently
* Inter have taken Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young from United

Inter Milan are targeting another Manchester United raid this summer with the Serie A club having joined the race to sign Chris Smalling, according to reports.

The 30-year-old defender was shipped out on loan to Italy this season and impressed during his stint with Roma despite having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

And now Sportmediaset believe that Smalling has caught the eye of title challengers Inter ahead of a potential £23million summer move.

Smalling, a 31-cap England international, failed to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his arrival in the United hotseat.

With the centre back once again placed on the transfer list, Inter may be tempted to swoop and bring in another United player for a fourth time.

United have been able to bump up Smalling's value after his successful spell with Roma.

Inter Milan may raid Manchester United again to sign defender Chris Smalling this summer. Antonio Conte reportedly believes the 30-year-old's experience will help his title challengers. Roma were keen to sign Smalling permanently after his loan but baulked at United's £23m fee

The Serie A outfit decided that they wanted to sign the former Fulham man permanently, but Smalling's parent club were reportedly unwilling to broker a deal for a cut price.

The £23m fee has seen other clubs show their interest, with Inter among them, after Roma were put off.

It is believed boss Antonio Conte believes Smalling's experience and desire will be integral to his team's title challenge next season.

Smalling made 30 league appearances this campaign, and even scored three goals and recorded two assists despite operating along the backline.

Roma were desperate to keep the defender for the rest of their Europa League journey but failed to reach an agreement with United to extend the loan deal.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez both left Old Trafford for Inter last summer, and the duo were soon joined by fellow team-mate Ashley Young in January.
