Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has not suffered any ligament damage in his ankle after picking up an injury in Sunday's derby win at City.
The 23-year-old was forced off with the problem in the second half at the Etihad and replaced by Mason Greenwood.
It is understood scans showed that Rashford has not suffered any significant damage but is still struggling with heavy bruising and swelling around the joint.
Although it will come as good news for United that Rashford's injury is not a serious one, the forward is still considered a major doubt for Thursday's Europa League clash with AC Milan.

Rashford has been a vital figure for United this season, playing in all 43 games and contributing with 18 goals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be left with few options in attack for their game with Milan as there remains concerns around Edinson Cavani's fitness too.
The Uruguayan striker was absent for Sunday's victory over City through injury and it remains to be seen if he'll be available to face Milan.
Cavani, meanwhile, is set to hold talks with United about his future amid claims he wants to leave Old Trafford for Boca Juniors.
Reports in South America on Monday said Cavani has decided to join the Argentine club on a three-year contract and take a pay cut rather than extend his current deal at United.
The 34-year-old striker signed a short-term contract until the end of the season worth £9million when he arrived at Old Trafford as a free agent on deadline day in October.

It has the option of a 12-month extension which has to be agreed by both parties, and United were planning talks with Cavani and Walter Guglielmone, his agent and brother, before Monday's developments.
The club are said to be keen to keep the former Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli player next season, but Cavani has yet to commit and is understood to want assurances over his role.
Speaking last month, manager Solskjaer said: 'I can only say Edinson has done well. We'll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans.'
