Default Re: United Injury News 2019/20

Look away now Ole! Harry Maguire winces in discomfort while Scott McTominay adds to Manchester United's injury woes as Scottish midfielder limps down the tunnel against Partizan Belgrade

* Scott McTominay was forced off against Partizan Belgrade after getting a knock
* The Scotland international hobbled straight down the tunnel after leaving pitch
* United fans will hope it is not serious ahead of the visit of Brighton this weekend

Manchester United's dominant display against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League was overshadowed on Thursday night by the sight of Scott McTominay limping straight down the tunnel.

The Scottish international was met with a crunching challenge midway through the second half and he struggled to shake off the pain before he was withdrawn.

McTominay was not going to be risked by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given how important he has become to the side this season in the absence of Paul Pogba.

There was a sense of unease at Old Trafford as the 22-year-old midfielder clutched his ankle

Jesse Lingard was sent on as United's final change of the night in place of McTominay.

When quizzed on the injury, Solskjaer looked to allay any fears of a long-term issue when he said: 'I don't know. He said he was going to be okay but then he couldn't, but hopefully he will okay for Sunday, I don't know.'

The 22-year-old has managed to establish himself as a primary option in central midfielder and has fast become a dependable player for Solskjaer, despite the club's difficult start to the campaign.

There will be hopes that McTominay's issue is not serious and he will be fit to take on Brighton

McTominay dropped to the floor holding his right ankle and given United were 3-0 up and cruising, it was a source of real frustration with supporters that one of the regular starters had an injury scare.

The young Scot has already made 14 appearances for United this season - he managed to get 22 in the total of 2018-19.

It remains unclear if McTominay will miss Sunday's game against Brighton and it is likely to ring alarm bells for Scotland boss Steve Clarke ahead of the final two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan.

Harry Maguire was another who had United fans concerned after the 3-0 win on Thursday but Solskjaer insists he expects the £80million summer signing to recover in time for Sunday's game.

'I think Harry will be okay,' Solskjaer told MUTV. 'He finished the game anyway.'

Harry Maguire looked uncomfortable at one stage but he managed to play the full 90 minutes
