David Beckham's Inter Miami are set to receive £40,000 compensation from Gareth Bale's move to LAFC due to bizarre MLS rules on 'Discovery Lists' of players targeted for future transfers

* Wales forward Gareth Bale joined Los Angeles FC in the Major League Soccer
* Bale was also on the 'discovery list' of David Beckham owned Inter Miami
* LAFC will reportedly now have to pay a £40,000 compensation to their rivals

Los Angeles FC will reportedly have to pay a compensation fee to Major League Soccer rivals Inter Miami after completing the signing of Gareth Bale on a free transfer.

The Wales star departed from Real Madrid this month after nine years at the club and it was revealed on Saturday that he will become the latest high-profile player to move to the MLS.

As reported by Spanish outlet Diario AS, David Beckham's Inter Miami hoped to sign Bale after putting him in their 'discovery list' this summer.

As per the regulations, clubs in the league can include just seven players on their wish list.

Gareth Bale confirmed his shock move to MLS club Los Angeles FC on a free transfer. The Welsh star was also on David Beckham's wish list but Inter Miami may get a compensation. LAFC are hopeful of keeping Bale at the club beyond the Qatar World Cup in November

In a bizarre turn of events, LAFC will now have to pay a £40,000 ($50,000) compensation to remove Bale from Inter Miami's list.

Making LAFC's first official comment on the deal, co-president John Thorrington did not discuss the length of Bale's contract but expressed confidence it would go beyond the Qatar World Cup in November.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Thorrington said: 'I'd love to get into specifics but, as policy, I don't.

'What I can tell you is that LAFC and Gareth are hoping that this is a long-term partnership and step for Gareth and his family.

'It was never about six months just for the World Cup. We were always talking about longer term than that. That was very clear from Gareth and his representative.

'Obviously we expect him to be a top, top player for us and in this league, but we will do so sensibly.

'When Gareth is looking at what he needs to do, his priority will be at LAFC, we are absolutely sure of that, but we're not naive to the fact that he, like some other players of ours, have a World Cup on the horizon.'

Thorrington went on to reveal Bale could make his LAFC as early as next month against local rivals LA Galaxy.

Barcelona star Sergio Busquets 'is set to join David Beckham's Inter Miami for free next summer' when the 34-year-old's contract expires... bringing an end to his 17-year spell at the Nou Camp

* Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is reportedly joining Inter Miami next year
* The 34-year-old's current contract in Spain is up in June and MLS side interested
* David Beckham's franchise circled in the summer and Busquets is keen on move

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is expected to move to the MLS next summer by joining Inter Miami, according to reports.

The 34-year-old was linked with a move to the United States in the most recent transfer market with David Beckham's MLS franchise circling.

And now he looks set to close the curtain on his 17-year spell at Barca and switch to Inter Miami next year, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Busquets' current contract in Spain will expire in June 2023 and the report claims he will leave his boyhood club when it runs out.

The report adds that the midfielder has accepted he will depart and is keen on furthering his career in the States.

Admirers Inter Miami, managed by former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Phil Neville, have been looking at making Busquets their franchise player.

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets (L) is set to move to David Beckham's (R) Inter Miami. Phil Neville's Inter Miami have struggled for consistency this season and sit in seventh place

The Spain international would be a marquee signing for the team as well as a big name for the league.

He's won both the World Cup and European Championship with his country and has played a pivotal role in Barcelona's success since 2008.

Busquets, with 685 Barca appearances to his name, has won LaLiga eight times, the Copa del Rey seven times, the Spanish Super Cup eight times and lifted the Champions League on three occasions.

The central midfielder reportedly could opt to remain at the Nou Camp for one more season following the conclusion to his current deal.

He has made five appearances this season and captained the side in their 2-0 group defeat by Bayern Munich in Europe.

Inter Miami have struggled for consistency this season but currently sit in a playoff spot in seventh in the MLS Eastern Conference.

David Beckham's Inter Miami 'lining up January bid for wantaway Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo', with the forward 'keen on the move' despite his desire for Champions League football

* Inter Miami are reportedly lining up a January transfer bid for Cristiano Ronaldo
* Inter, founded by David Beckham, believe they could get the forward for free
* Ronaldo is keen on the move despite his desire for Champions League football
* He has struggled for minutes this season after trying to leave in the summer

David Beckham's Inter Miami are lining up a January bid for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a report.

The forward made his desire to leave Manchester United in the summer clear, but a move never materialised as he searched for Champions League football.

According to The Sun, a move to America may be on the cards for Ronaldo, who has struggled for minutes at United so far this season.

It is reported that the club, which was founded by Beckham in 2018, tried to sign the 37-year-old in the summer, but were unsuccessful in their approaches.

The forward would reportedly be keen to move abroad in a bid to play first team football with the majority of minutes this season coming from the bench or in the Europa League.

Cristiano Ronaldo could be set to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window. David Beckham's Inter Miami are reportedly lining up a bid for the wantaway forward. Ronaldo has been on the bench regularly at United this season under manager Erik ten Hag

Inter would be willing to offer £30million for the Portugal star, who has less than a year remaining on his contract.

The club however reportedly feel they could pick Ronaldo up for free, just months on after they attempted to do so in the summer window.

Ronaldo may find himself in a difficult situation, as he wants Champions League football but is also keen to play regularly in the twilight of his career.

He has scored one goal this season, which came from the penalty spot in the Europa League in a 2-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Overall, he has netted 25 times since rejoining United last year, adding to his tally of 117 when he played for the club between 2003 and 2009.

Inter Miami 'make a move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo as David Beckham holds talks with the Portuguese star's representatives'... and the wantaway Manchester United forward is 'keen on a move to the MLS outfit'

* Inter Miami have reportedly made an astonishing move for Cristiano Ronaldo
* The future of Ronaldo at Manchester United has again been thrown into doubt
* Owner David Beckham has spoken the Portuguese forward's representatives
* It is claimed that Ronaldo would be keen on a move to the MLS outfit

David Beckham has reportedly made an astonishing move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Inter Miami.

Ronaldo has been embroiled in significant drama over the past week after the release of his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

Within the highly controversial interview, Ronaldo slammed the current state of Manchester United, along with heavily criticising manager Erik ten Hag and former teammates including Gary Neville - meaning that his time at Old Trafford is surely coming to an end.

And now, Inter Miami owner Beckham has spoken to the Portuguese superstar's representatives over a move to his MLS outfit, according to The Sun.

The report states that Beckham received a positive response with Ronaldo interested in a move to Miami.

It has previously been reported that Ronaldo's great rival - Lionel Messi, is Beckham's No 1 target for his MLS franchise, but the possible availability of the United forward has alerted Beckham.

Ronaldo is reportedly also attracting interest from Inter Miami's fellow MLS clubs LA Galaxy and LAFC.

As he continues to attempt to find a way out of Manchester, Inter Miami could be seen as an intriguing option for Ronaldo.

David Beckham has reportedly made a shock move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Inter Miami. Ronaldo is desperate to leave Man United and it is claimed he would be keen on the move. Inter Miami are also still interested in a move for Ronaldo's long-time rival, Lionel Messi

Ironically, if he were to join, he would work under Phil Neville - brother of Gary - who was one of the former teammates that Ronaldo heavily slammed in his interview.

With former Inter Miami forward Gonzalo Higuian's retirement at the end of the MLS season in October, there is a gap in the team's squad, meaning a move would make sense.

Beckham also remains keen on signing Messi, who has been strongly linked with a move to his side.

However, the former England skipper would take the chance to sign Ronaldo, with the forward likely become the top earner in the MLS.

Bosses of the American league would also be delighted with the move as the profile of the sport continues to rise in the nation ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and the new TV deal signed with Apple that starts from the beginning of next season.

Lionel Messi close to sealing move to Inter Miami, with David Beckham's Qatari links key to a post-World Cup transfer - and long-time friends Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas could follow him there

* Lionel Messi is on the brink of joining MLS side Inter Miami ahead of next season
* The Argentina legend would be become the highest paid player in MLS history
* Messi is expected to confirm the decision after Argentina's World Cup campaign
* The PSG superstar, 35, has a house in Miami and regularly goes there on holiday

Inter Miami are closing in on a stunning move for Lionel Messi.

The MLS side believe the Argentina legend will formalise a switch from Paris-Saint Germain on a free transfer to become the highest-paid player in the history of the sport in the US.

Messi, 35, is currently understood to be on a salary of around £1.2m-a-week and would take a pay cut at the Florida franchise, which is co-owned by David Beckham.

However, he would be by far the top earner the game in America has ever seen.

Messi has a home in Miami and is known to regularly holiday there. The club are already thought to be identifying players who will fit with the forward's style of play with former Barcelona team-mates Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas under consideration.

Inter Miami are on the brink of agreeing a deal with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi. The MLS side are also eager to lure Messi's former Barcelona team-mate Cesc Fabregas (left)

Inter Miami are managed by Beckham's former Manchester United team-mate Phil Neville, who has just signed a contract extension.

In September, the club was cleared to start construction on a £820m stadium complex, which will include a 25,000-seat stadium, a 750-room hotel, playing fields and an underground car park.

According to The Times, Beckham's links to Qatar are believed to be a fundamental part of the Messi deal.

An ambassador for the host nation at the World Cup, Beckham is directly linked to the owners of PSG, Qatar Sports Investment, as well as the club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Furthermore, the relationship between Messi and the former England captain has grown thanks to their longstanding association with Adidas.

Joining PSG on a free transfer, Messi made his tearful exit from Barcelona in 2021 and has since racked up 23 goals and 29 assists in 53 appearances for the French giants.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham is confident his side can land Messi ahead of next season. Uruguay hitman Luis Suarez, 35, is also on the list of Inter Miami targets ahead of next summer

Despite adding a Ligue 1 title to his impressive portfolio of trophies, Messi has still yet to lead Argentina to World Cup glory, a feat he is trying to accomplish in Qatar ahead of transfer talks in January.

The forward netted a crucial go-ahead goal against Mexico on Saturday to secure Argentina's first win of the tournament, after their bitter 3-0 defeat by Saudi Arabia earlier this week.

After Messi shook off his tiresome start to inspire Argentina to victory against Mexico, head coach Lionel Scaloni admitted Messi was a shining light during a 'terribly difficult game'.

'Even the Mexican fans enjoy watching him play, even when he scores a goal against them – we all enjoy it,' he said after the match.

'It was a terribly difficult game, against a great rival, and even more so because of how we came into the match.

'I'm proud of my team. The game changed, not only because we have Leo, but because we have great players throughout the team.'
