Everton will reject John Stones transfer request, says Roberto Martinez as he fights to keep defender from Chelsea's clutches

* John Stones handed in a transfer request on Tuesday to force a move
* Chelsea have had three bids rejected for the England defender already
* Roberto Martinez has insisted that Everton will not sell Stones this summer
* Everton boss confirmed the transfer request will be rejected on Thursday

Roberto Martinez will formally reject John Stones' transfer request on Thursday morning as he intensified his fight to keep him at Everton.

Stones felt he had no option on Tuesday but to take matters into his own hands and try to force through a move to Chelsea, who have had three bids of £20million, £26m and £30m for the defender rejected. They are expected to return with a fourth offer of £33m soon.

Martinez, however, is refusing to flinch and will not be pressurised either by Stones, who wants to play for the champions, or by Chelsea, who have aggressively pursued the England international all summer and will guarantee him regular football.

Chelsea target John Stones handed in a transfer request on Tuesday and wants to join Chelsea

Last Friday Martinez said it 'would make no difference' if Stones made his desire to leave official and he backed up that stance after Everton needed extra time to beat Barnsley 5-3 in an absorbing Capital One Cup tie.

When asked if Everton had rejected the request, Martinez said: 'Not yet – because today was a match day and that was the priority. We will reject it in the morning and get on with our business.

'I am repeating myself but I don't think it is right for the football authorities to allow the window to be open when there are important games. We shouldn't put our players under that massive pressure. It becomes a bit of a circus.

'The situation with John is very clear. We care about him. We will protect him and make sure we give him everything we can to allow him to enjoy his football. Clearly we have got to a point – in life and football – when sometimes money can't buy everything.

'I think that is going to be a very strong statement at Everton. We have a Chairman who will do the right thing for the club and for the team and, as a true Evertonian, we are clear he will not be easily influenced in taking the money and accepting things which will clearly make our team weaker.

'This is not a moment of the campaign when we can use any money to get us stronger. John is under massive, massive pressure and I thought he was terrific. I think it is wrong for the window to be open. The situation is very clear. We are going to protect him and give him everything we can.'

When asked if he was surprised that Stones had taken this drastic step, Martinez said: I am not surprised by the request because he is a young man who is under massive pressure from people and outside influences. What we need to do is give more value to contracts.

'We need to bring more seriousness to being part of a football club and to making sure that contracts are important. Are we just having contracts for when players are injured? If you are fit, does that mean you can just move around?'

On Everton's performance to recover from 2-0 down then 3-2 down, Martinez added: 'I thought Barnsley were superb throughout - dynamic and clinical. We were a little slow in the first half and showed poor focus in front of goal.

'It was a test to see if we could come back into the scoreline, but it was terrific to see the younger players showing up after a performance that was not acceptable in the first half.'

John Stones considers moving house after receiving threats as Everton reject transfer request from Chelsea target

* Everton chairman Bill Kenwright confirms John Stones' transfer request has been turned down
* The 21-year-old handed in a request on Tuesday to force Chelsea move
* The Premier League champions have had three bids rejected for the England defender
* Roberto Martinez has insisted that Everton will not sell Stones this summer

Everton insist the John Stones saga is over after formally rejecting the defender's request to join Chelsea.

Chairman Bill Kenwright issued a succinct three paragraph statement on Thursday night to reaffirm the stance Everton have taken all summer – that Stones is simply not for sale.

Stones submitted his request on Tuesday in the hope of forcing through a move to Stamford Bridge but Everton manager Roberto Martinez told him during a meeting at the club’s Finch Farm on Thursday that the club would not grant his wish.

Chelsea target John Stones handed in a transfer request on Tuesday and wants to join Chelsea

But Stones is considering moving house after receiving threats from Everton fans.

He was also abused by travelling supporters after his side’s Capital One Cup win at Barnsley on Wednesday night — the first time he has returned to his former club since he left in 2013.

He was in the starting line-up for the 5-3 extra-time win but was heckled off the Oakwell pitch by some of the away support. Footage from the stands showed one fan shouting: ‘F*** off Stones, you f****** rat’.

As far as Martinez is concerned, it will be a case of business as usual and Stones will be selected for the squad that travels down to London for Saturday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

It is understood that Chelsea returned with what they regarded to be a fourth and final bid earlier this week – it was in the region of £38million – but with that being rejected, it became clear that Everton’s position would not alter.

The 21-year-old had been Jose Mourinho's prime target all summer.

He has regarded Stones as being John Terry’s long-term successor and has had ambitions of pairing the England international alongside Kurt Zouma sooner rather than later.

But Everton have refused to buckle under intense pressure – Chelsea’s interest in Stones goes back months and there have been bids of £20million, £26million and £30million – even though they were aware of Stones' desire to join the Champions.

Kenwright said: 'Everton Football Club has rejected a transfer request from John Stones.

‘Since the start of the transfer window, we have resolutely turned down offers from another Premier League football club for our player.

‘John is not for sale and he will remain a highly valued member of our first team squad.'

With Mourinho anxious to bolster his defence, he may now turn to Zenit St Petersburg’s Ezequiel Garay but his admiration for Stones will not disappear and there is little doubt Chelsea will continue to track him in the future.

Rifqi Ardita Widianto - detikSport

John Stones will seek £38m release clause if he signs new Everton deal... paving the way for Chelsea to come back in for him

* Everton rejected four bids from Chelsea for England defender John Stones
* Defender will seek £38m buyout clause should he sign new Toffees deal
* It's likely the 21-year-old will reject new contract if his terms are not met

John Stones will effectively seek a £38million release clause when talks with Everton over a new contract get underway.

The England international was the subject of fierce interest from Chelsea over the summer; the Blues having four bids refused by the Toffees.

The Blues’ final offer was worth a whopping £38million; with that figure looking likely to be central in Everton’s attempts to tie Stones down to a new long-term deal.

John Stones is likely to seek a £38million buyout clause should he sign a new contract with Everton

Toffees manager Roberto Martinez is ready to sanction a new contract for Stones that will reinforce his status as one of the best emerging defenders in Europe.

He currently earns £30,000-per-week at Goodison Park, but any new contract would see his salary sky-rocket to at least double that amount.

However, Stones, who submitted a transfer request in an attempt to force a move to Stamford Bridge, is far from certain to sign fresh terms at Everton.

Stones will consider signing a new contract but only if Everton promise to let him leave for Chelsea if they match the £38million offer made at the end of last month.

If Everton agree to the conditions, Stones’ advisors will seek to have the stipulation confirmed in a signed document.

Should the Merseysiders refuse, then it is highly likely Stones will reject the club’s offer of an improved deal and once more agitate to leave when formal offers for his services arrive.

It is looking increasingly unlikely that Stones will move during the January transfer window.

But his future is certain to be called into question once more next summer, even if he signs fresh terms at Everton.

Everton Tak Pernah Berpikir Sedetik pun Menjual Stones
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Itulah poin pentingnya," tutupnya.

Kalahkan MU, Chelsea Tawar Stones 40 Juta Pounds

Demi Stones, MU Siapkan 50 Juta Pounds

Default Re: John Stones

John Stones is going nowhere in January, says Roberto Martinez as Everton boss tells Chelsea there is no chance of reviving move

* Chelsea are still considering a big-money move for Everton's John Stones
* Roberto Martinez says struggling champions will not get him in January
* Everton manager says even a transfer request would not change his view
* Sportsmail revealed Stones plans on staying until at least the summer

Roberto Martinez has dashed any hopes Chelsea have of reviving a move John Stones next month by telling them selling up 'doesn't come into consideration'.

Everton centre back Stones handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer and Chelsea remain in the hunt for his services.

But after Sportsmail reported that the 21-year-old plans on staying on Merseyside until the end of the season at least, his manager Martinez has said Everton won't sell even if he wants to leave.

Manchester City and Manchester United have also shown interest in Stones but any suitors for the £40million-rated England international will have to wait until at least next summer for a move.

Martinez said: 'It doesn't matter if Chelsea come back in for him. We created a squad to see how far we could go over 10 months. January doesn't come into consideration.

'We'll never lose anyone in January — unless it's somebody who hasn't been playing and we need to find a solution. If he's a top performer, it's not even a consideration.'

John Stones will not be moving to Chelsea in January according to his Everton manager Roberto Martinez

Stones has made 18 appearances for Martinez's side this season with Everton sitting 10th in the Barclays Premier League, eight points ahead of Jose Mourinho's crisis-hit club.

The Toffees boss was concerned about the impact on his squad when Stones handed in his summer transfer request but asked if another in January would rock the boat at Goodison Park he told the Mirror: 'No, it's very different.

'I think the uncertainty comes in the summer, where everyone speaks about possibilities.'

Stones' desire to stay stems from an intention to cement his place in Roy Hodgson's Euro 2016 plans. He does not want to take any risks that may jeopardise his position in the England set-up.

Any move would be unlikely to happen before next summer's tournament in France, with Stones preferring to review his future after the European Championship.

With both Chelsea and United plunged in uncertainty, a move to either Premier League giant may not be as appealing to Stones next month.
