Default Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United set to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus in £15m deal to solve their midfield crisis but France international comes with a trouble-maker reputation... and Old Trafford club insist they still want No 1 target Frenkie de Jong

* Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Adrien Rabiot from Juventus
* France international, 27, will cost £15m and ease their problems in midfield
* United's pursuit of Erik ten Hag's No 1 transfer target Frenkie de Jong has stalled
* But the club insist they still want to sign De Jong before the window closes

Manchester United are poised to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus in a deal worth £15million.

The France international, 27, will ease United's concerns in midfield following the faltering pursuit of new manager Erik ten Hag's No 1 summer target, Frenkie de Jong.

Rabiot has fallen out of favour at Juventus and only has one year remaining on his contract, opening the door for United to sign him.

He joined the Italian club in 2019 on a free transfer following seven years with Paris Saint-Germain, after Rabiot, in conjunction with his mother and agent Veronique, decided his future was in better hands away from Paris.

But Rabiot struggled to live up to the early promise he showed at Juventus and his time in Turin has coincided with the club's monopoly on the Serie A title ending.

Ironically, midfielder Paul Pogba has just left Old Trafford to return to Juventus after failing to scale the heights in the Premier League.

United will acquire a talented midfielder but one who has a reputation within the game for being a tricky customer within dressing rooms.

This is in part due to the reputation that has been bestowed upon his mother, who has clashed with figures within the game during her son's career.

Manchester United have agreed a £15m fee for Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot, 27, signed for Juventus back in 2019 but has failed to achieve his full potential there. Rabiot's mother and agent Veronique is a notoriously tough negotiator and has clashed with her son's clubs in the past. Erik ten Hag saw his tenure as United boss get off to the worst possible start on Sunday afternoon at home to Brighton

Veronique represents Rabiot and is said to have clashed with the star's teammates and sporting directors as well as having demanded to meet managers and attend training sessions to ensure her son was being treated and tended to in the right way.

She has previously demanded to go on a pre-season tour when her son signed his first pro forms at PSG, while she was partly responsible for his dropping to the reserves at the same club over wage demands.

She would claim over that incident that her son was being held 'hostage' by the club and that amounted to him soon being in 'prison' being fed only 'bread and water'.

A move to Spain in 2018 didn't happen over wage demands.

Critics of United have said that the Rabiot move amounts to the club panicking as the transfer window enters its final stages.

The club lost their opening fixture of the 2022-23 campaign, and Erik ten Hag's first in charge, at home to Brighton.

Multiple fans called for a restructuring of the United midfield, with the club having pursued De Jong all summer at the expense of other targets.

Rabiot is not thought to be an alternative to De Jong, with the club still hopeful they can land the Dutchman.

Manchester United's £15m move for Adrien Rabiot 'is at risk of COLLAPSE as the Juventus star's agent mother demands the Red Devils cough up more than the £6m-a-year her son earns in Italy'

* Manchester United have agreed a £15million deal for midfielder Adrien Rabiot
* Juventus are happy to let the Frenchman leave as he is not in their plans
* But his salary demands could reportedly cause the move to fall apart
* Rabiot's mother Veronique is leading the negotiations over her son's contract

Salary demands from Adrien Rabiot and his mother, who is also his agent, could see Manchester United's move for the Juventus midfielder collapse.

The Red Devils have agreed a £15.2million transfer fee with Juve for Rabiot and the Serie A side are happy to let him leave.

However, according to Sportmediaset, negotiations over personal terms are proving to be a stumbling block in the move.

It is reported that Veronique Rabiot will have direct contact with United by Friday but she is asking for a salary higher than the £6million-a-year that her son is currently earning in Turin.

Manchester United have agreed a £15m deal for Adrien Rabiot, with Juventus happy to sell him. But his mother and agent Veronique is asking for a salary of more than £6m-a-year for her son. Rabiot is said to have appreciated phone calls from Erik ten Hag, who has spoken highly of him

Juventus fans are excited by the possibility of Rabiot departing and hope that the deal can be concluded as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old is not in the club's plans for the season, emphasised by the fact that they have handed youngster Nicolo Fagioli a new four-year contract.

Rabiot's patience is wearing thin and he no longer has the desire to continue in Turin. His contract expires in 2023 and a move to United would prevent Juve from losing him for free next summer.

According to ESPN, Rabiot has appreciated telephone calls from Erik ten Hag, who has spoken highly of him.

The Dutchman has pushed to sign Rabiot after United lost to Brighton in the first game of the Premier League season.

Default Re: Adrien Rabiot

'I have always said I would like to play in England': Adrien Rabiot reveals his plan to move to the Premier League amid doubts over his future at Juventus... with Manchester United still eyeing the France midfielder despite talks collapsing in the summer

* Juventus star Adrien Rabiot admits he would one day like to play in England
* Rabiot has just over six months left to run on his current contract with Juventus
* His future with the Turin club is in doubt after their mass exodus at board level
* Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for the player in the summer
* Erik ten Hag and Co will be eligible to open talks over a free transfer next month

Adrien Rabiot has opened up on his 'goal' to play in the Premier League amid talk of a potential move to Manchester United.

Rabiot has been in fine form for both club and country this season, having followed up a strong start to his domestic campaign with Juventus by playing a key part in France's run to the World Cup quarter-finals.

However, his long-term future at Juve remains in doubt with his current contract set to expire next summer, a situation not helped by the recent resignation of the club's entire board.

United have emerged as potential suitors in recent months amid Erik ten Hag's desire to bolster his midfield - with reports claiming a proposed transfer collapsed in the summer due to a dispute over wages - but the Premier League side would be eligible to begin talks over a free transfer at the turn of the year.

While on France duty in Qatar, Rabiot admitted that he has plans to move to England at some point in his career.

'I have always said that I would like to play in England in my career,' the 27-year-old said. 'Will it be at the end of my contract? I don't know, but I have this goal.

'I don't have a favourite team, there isn't really a club where I would necessarily like to play. It is above all [that] its level attracts me. I also think that the way of playing corresponds more to my qualities.'

France star Adrien Rabiot has opened up on his 'goal' to one day play in the Premier League. Rabiot's Juventus future is in doubt beyond the summer despite his strong start to the season. That could open the door for Man United to come back in after talks collapsed last summer

Rabiot is said to be demanding £8.6million net per year to stay at Juventus, who are considering letting him depart Turin on a free in July.

The Frenchman enjoyed an impressive start to the season under Massimiliano Allegri before heading off to the World Cup, registering five goals and two assists in 16 appearances for Juve.

And he is certainly keeping that momentum going out in Qatar, having drawn France level in their opening 4-1 victory over Australia, while also proving instrumental in further wins against Denmark and Poland.

On Saturday Rabiot could put himself in the shop window when Les Bleus take on England, with United and a host of other clubs likely to be running the rule over the soon-to-be free agent.
