VOTE FOR UNITED'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH

It was a hectic December for Manchester United but the time has come to vote for our Player of the Month.

The Reds crammed nine games into the final part of 2017, starting with the 3-1 win at Arsenal that seems an age ago and finishing with the draw against Southampton, ahead of the victory over Everton on New Year's Day.

Our nominees are Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata, who were selected despite competition from colleagues such as David De Gea, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young.

Cast your vote via our official Twitter account, with the poll closing at 11:00 GMT on Thursday.

Check out our recap on each of their individual performances before making your decision...

Phil Jones - Appearances / Goals: 5 / 0
The defender continued to be a solid presence after missing the early part of the month due to injury. A brave centre-back with good organisational skills, he helped to pick up clean sheets against Bournemouth and Southampton. His all-round performances impressed the judges with his tackling and heading.

Jesse Lingard - Appearances / Goals: 5 (1) / 5
The livewire forward has been genuinely outstanding of late, and has become an integral part of the team. Revelling in a central role with even more creative responsibility, he bagged doubles at the Emirates Stadium and in rescuing a point against Burnley. The England international also found the target in the victory at West Bromwich Albion and looks a stand-out candidate for the award.

Juan Mata - Appearances / Goals: 5 (1) / 2
Clearly in form, the Spaniard was superb at Leicester and scored twice in the 2-2 draw. He set up Marcus Rashford's goal in the win over CSKA Moscow in our final Champions League group game and also Romelu Lukaku's winner against Bournemouth. Playing with verve and intelligence, the 29-year-old has been a real positive influence.

You can cast your vote now via our official Twitter account @ManUtd.

VOTE FOR UNITED'S GOAL OF THE MONTH

There are eight contenders in the running for Manchester United's final Goal of the Month poll for 2017.

Jesse Lingard features prominently with three nominations for the December prize – the first of his two goals in the Reds' 3-1 win at Arsenal and both of his efforts in the 2-2 draw against Burnley on Boxing Day, including his sublime backheel.

Romelu Lukaku's superb header which proved to be the winner against Bournemouth at Old Trafford is also shortlisted – as is Zlatan Ibrahimovic's powerful free-kick in the Carabao Cup tie at Bristol City, his first goal of the season for the Reds.

The first-team nominations are completed by the stunning free-kick from Juan Mata – his second goal of the game – in the 2-2 draw at Leicester City just before Christmas.

For the Reserves, Callum Gribbin makes the cut with his stunning strike from distance to mark his 19th birthday in style in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City, played in thick fog at Leigh Sports Village.

United's youth teams are also represented on the list by Tahith Chong's effort in the FA Youth Cup clash at Derby County. The exciting winger collected a stray pass in the Derby half, embarked on a purposeful run and finished clinically with his left foot to level matters, but the Reds were unfortunately beaten on penalties in the third-round tie at Pride Park.

THE CONTENDERS IN ORDER:

GOAL A: Jesse Lingard first goal (v Arsenal, first team)
GOAL B: Romelu Lukaku (v Bournemouth, first team)
GOAL C: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (v Bristol City, first team)
GOAL D: Juan Mata free-kick (v Leicester City, first team)
GOAL E: Jesse Lingard first goal (v Burnley, first team)
GOAL F: Jesse Lingard second goal (v Burnley, first team)
GOAL G: Callum Gribbin (v Leicester City, Reserves)
GOAL H: Tahith Chong (v Derby County, FA Youth Cup)

VOTE FOR UNITED'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Despite the defeat at Tottenham, it's been a very positive start to the new year for Manchester United.

The Reds had recorded five straight wins in all competitions – without conceding a goal – while progressing to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup, before Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at Wembley.

The time has come to vote for the first Player of the Month of 2018 and, as always, it's a difficult choice to make.

Our three nominees are Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, who were selected after excelling during the month but faced stiff competition to make our shortlist from a number of colleagues.

Check out our recap on each of their individual performances before making your decision...

LUKE SHAW – Appearances / Goals: 4 / 0
The defender earned plenty of plaudits, including from boss Jose Mourinho, for his energetic displays during the month, as he made the left-back spot his own when Ashley Young served a three-match ban. Starting in four of our six January games, Luke was among the Man-of-the-Match contenders on a couple of occasions and helped the Reds keep clean sheets in all the matches in which he featured. It's the first time our no.23 has been nominated for the award chosen by United fans on Twitter.

ANTHONY MARTIAL – Appearances / Goals: 4 (1) / 3
It was another impressive month for the Frenchman, who scored in three successive Premier League games for the Reds for the first time after netting fine goals against Everton, Stoke City and Burnley. The forward was also named the Man of the Match after his eye-catching display against the Clarets and is looking to make a hat-trick of Player of the Month awards this season, having claimed back-to-back accolades in September and October.

JESSE LINGARD – Appearances / Goals: 5 (1) / 3
Having won his first Player of the Month prize in December, the livewire forward picked up where he left off by continuing his outstanding form into January. An ever-present for the Reds during the month, our no.14 earned successive Man-of-the-Match awards after scoring stunning goals in both of our first two games of 2018 against Everton and Derby County. He also took his tally to 12 strikes for the season in all competitions after netting as a substitute in the 4-0 FA Cup win at Yeovil Town.

Cast your vote via our official Twitter account, with the poll closing at 10:00 GMT on Wednesday 7 February.

VOTE FOR UNITED'S GOAL OF THE MONTH

A memorable start to the new year for Manchester United has also featured plenty of eye-catching goals – eight of which make up our first Goal of the Month poll of 2018.

Anthony Martial heads our shortlist with three nominations, with his three strikes in successive Premier League games – a fine curler from the edge of the box to open the scoring at Everton, a well-placed finish into the top corner during the Reds' 3-0 win over Stoke City, and his clinical effort which proved decisive against Burnley.

Another pair of stunning goals from Jesse Lingard are also included as our irrepressible no.14 sealed the 2-0 success at Goodison Park on New Year’s Day with a driving run and terrific finish into the top corner from the edge of the area, before striking a wonder goal to break the deadlock against Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup four days later.

Antonio Valencia completes the first-team contenders with his wicked left-footed drive to score the opener for the Reds on his return to the team following a hamstring injury in the victory over Stoke on 15 January.

Meanwhile, two worthy goals from the Under-18s are also up for the award – an unstoppable first-time effort from Largie Ramazani in the 4-2 win at Stoke City and a cool finish from Tahith Chong when he took a Ramazani pass in his stride and rounded the keeper to score his second of the game in the 2-1 victory over Sunderland.

THE CONTENDERS IN ORDER

GOAL A: Anthony Martial (v Everton)
GOAL B: Jesse Lingard (v Everton)
GOAL C: Jesse Lingard (v Derby County)
GOAL D: Anthony Martial (v Stoke City)
GOAL E: Anthony Valencia (v Stoke City)
GOAL F: Anthony Martial (v Burnley)
GOAL G: Largie Ramazani (v Stoke City, Under-18s)
GOAL H: Tahith Chong (2nd goal v Sunderland, Under-18s)

Martial is January's Player of the Month

Anthony Martial has been voted Manchester United's Player of the Month for January by supporters – the third time he has won the award already this season.

As always, fans voted in their thousands in the poll, conducted on our official Twitter account @ManUtd, and Martial picked up half of the final tally (50 per cent). Team-mates Jesse Lingard (35 per cent) and Luke Shaw (15 per cent) were also nominated.

In claiming the first star-man award of 2018, Martial has made it a hat-trick of Player of the Month prizes so far in 2017/18 after also receiving the fans' accolade in September and October. His decisive finish against Tottenham, which proved to be the winner at Old Trafford, was also voted October's Goal of the Month.

The other Player of the Month winners this season are Paul Pogba (August), Ashley Young (November) and Jesse Lingard (December).

WHY DID ANTHONY WIN IT?
January was another impressive month for the Frenchman, who scored in three successive Premier League games for the Reds for the first time – all of which are also nominated for our latest Goal of the Month award, with the winner revealed tomorrow (Thursday).

He also chalked up two assists during the month, setting up goals for Romelu Lukaku to round off the scoring in the victories against Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup and Stoke City in the Premier League.

Martial started the month by scoring our first goal of 2018 with a sublime effort from the edge of the box in the Reds' 2-0 win at Everton on New Year's Day. He then followed it up with another fine finish in the 3-0 success against Stoke at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old also struck the winner in the 1-0 victory at Burnley with a clinical strike and was subsequently named our Man of the Match, as voted for by fans on Twitter, after his eye-catching display at Turf Moor.

Only Lingard (12) and Lukaku (19) have netted on more occasions in all competitions this campaign than Martial, who has 11 goals and nine assists to his name. He has already eclipsed his total for the whole of last season of eight goals and will be looking to surpass his tally of 17 in his debut season in 2015/16 – during which he won the Player of the Month award twice.

The forward has been in imperious form this season, making an impact when starting games and appearing as a substitute, and could have a vital role to play in the remaining months of the season as the Reds strive for silverware.

Valencia wins Goal of the Month

Antonio Valencia's stunning strike against Stoke City has been voted Manchester United's Goal of the Month for January by supporters.

The right-back, who was returning to the side against the Potters after four games out with a hamstring injury, marked his comeback in style by opening the scoring with a screamer in the Reds' 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

He collected Paul Pogba's pass in the right channel just outside the penalty area, before cutting inside and unleashing a superb bending drive past Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland. It was something of a collector's item, as our research suggests it was the first time he has ever scored for the Reds with his left foot.

The competition for January's best strike was one of the tightest battles for the fans' accolade we've ever had, as Valencia narrowly came out on top in a poll conducted on ManUtd.com with 23 per cent of the final vote.

Jesse Lingard's sublime effort against Everton came second (21 per cent) and Anthony Martial's fine finish against Stoke was a close third (20 per cent). Lingard's wonder goal against Derby County (15 per cent) and Martial's clinical strike against Burnley (nine per cent) also received votes to make up a top five.

It's the second time this season that Valencia has won Goal of the Month after claiming the September prize for his thunderbolt against Everton – the first of the Reds' goals in a thumping 4-0 victory at Old Trafford.
In fact, his emphatic volley against the Toffees scooped a hat-trick of awards in total, as it was also voted the Premier League's Goal of the Month for September and United's Goal of the Year for 2017.

Having also netted the opener in December's impressive 3-1 win at Arsenal, Valencia has three goals to his name already this season – more than the previous three seasons combined.

Congratulations Antonio and thanks to everyone who voted.

More: You can watch Valencia’s award-winning strike in the media player above.

STAR MAN MARTIAL AIMS FOR MORE AWARDS

Anthony Martial says he hopes he can maintain the fine form which led to him scooping Manchester United's Player of the Month award for the third time this season, following his January triumph.

The forward also collected the prize in September and October and he kicked off 2018 with three goals in the opening three league games, including a vital winner away at Burnley.

Martial described his latest accolade, as voted for by the fans, as "a real honour" and he's determined to keep the goals flowing.

"I feel really good at the moment, I’m training hard and, to be fair, with the matches and results since the new year, we've made a decent start, so I hope we can continue in the same vein," he told MUTV.

"It's a real honour for me that the supporters have voted for me. I think now it’s the third time it’s happened this season. I just hope I can keep this run going and maybe even try and win a few more of them!"

A busy run of fixtures lies ahead for the Reds - who will battling across three fronts in the next fortnight, with a league trip to Newcastle United, an Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie at Huddersfield Town and a UEFA Champions League visit to Sevilla to come.

"We all like it when we’re playing every three days, that’s football at the highest level these days," added Martial. "We’re always ready and prepared and, what’s more, we have the squad to cope with the amount of games, so it’s an exciting period ahead."

Default Re: [2017/18] United Player and Goal of the Month

WHO IS YOUR PLAYER OF THE MONTH?

It was a close-run thing, but we can now confirm the three nominees for Manchester United's Player-of-the Month award for February.

The Reds won three of our five matches in all competitions during the month, along with a hard-earned goalless draw against Sevilla in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie and a narrow defeat at Newcastle United in the Premier League.

As always, there was stiff competition to make the shortlist but, after much deliberation, goalkeeper David De Gea, midfielder Scott McTominay and striker Romelu Lukaku are the players in the frame for the latest star man accolade.

Read our summary of each of their performances before casting your vote via our official Twitter account...

David De Gea – Appearances/Clean Sheets: 4 / 2
The Spanish shot-stopper was in inspirational form throughout February, with his standout performance coming in his homeland as he ensured the Reds’ tie with Sevilla remained goalless heading into the second leg with some stunning stops – including a world-class save to keep out Luis Muriel’s close-range header. It was one of two clean sheets that our no.1 kept during the month – having also shut out Huddersfield in the 2-0 league win at Old Trafford, but he was rested for the Emirates FA Cup victory over the same opponents at the John Smith’s Stadium. It’s De Gea’s second nomination for Player of the Month this season, after making the shortlist for October’s prize.

Jose Mourinho said: "He’s a fantastic goalkeeper and it’s not possible for a team to be successful without a fantastic goalkeeper. In every other club I’ve been lucky to win trophies at, the goalkeeper has always played a big part."

De Gea on 'that' save in Seville: "It was a good moment and a good save, especially because of the moment in the game - the last minute of the first half. It was important we didn't concede a goal."

Vote for him because: He made the difference in Europe!

Scott McTominay – Appearances/Goals: 4 (1) / 0
February was surely the best month in the young Academy graduate’s burgeoning career to date, with his impressive form deservedly culminating in a first-ever Player of the Month nomination. The combative midfielder appeared in all five of the Reds’ games during February, starting four of them, to take his tally to 15 first-team outings this season since becoming part of Jose’s squad. The 21-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits for his mature displays recently, rising to the challenge to perform tough man-marking jobs on Sevilla’s Ever Banega and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard in two big games, and has been highly praised by the manager on several occasions.

Michael Carrick said: "He is willing to learn and listen. That is one of the biggest things for a young lad, to have that attitude. Of course I am here to help him and I try to do it as much as I can. I know he will take my place some day and that is not something I would be afraid of, or try to put him off, because it is important to help the future and Scott is definitely that."

How Scott responded to such praise: "Every single day you can watch the players and you see players like Michael Carrick – you don’t have to say what a tremendous career he’s had," Scott said. "Me and Michael have had one-to-one chats and it’s helped me a lot. And obviously the manager – it’s incredible the amount of support that him and the coaching staff have given me."

Vote for him because: He's smashing it in the seniors!

Romelu Lukaku – Appearances/Goals: 5 / 4
The Reds’ top scorer this season has been in magnificent form of late, taking his tally to 22 goals in all competitions by netting four times during another fruitful spell for the Belgian. Our no.9 played in all but 13 minutes of the Reds’ five February matches and earned his first Man-of-the-Match awards of the season after netting a decisive brace against Huddersfield in the Emirates FA Cup and notching a goal and an assist in last weekend’s comeback win over his former club Chelsea. It’s the second time the powerful frontman has been shortlisted for our Player of the Month award, after also being nominated for the accolade in September.

Jose Mourinho praised: "I don't analyse the players' performances the same way you [journalists] do. I have other points of analysis and I'm happy with Romelu's performances, even when he doesn't score goals."

Red Rom isn't finished yet: "I just need to keep working hard. I think I have got a nice record. I've scored a lot this season and I just want to keep going. I know that I can improve and I want to improve and really work hard. I want to win trophies. I'm 24 and I think I have a lot of years ahead of me to improve before my prime so I'm never satisfied. I always want to improve and get better and it's a nice challenge."

Vote for him because: He's quietly bagging the goals!

Cast your vote now via our official Twitter account @ManUtd. The poll closes on Friday 2 March at 10:00 GMT.
