Victor Lindelof could miss Sweden's clash with Russia due to illness but should be ready to return for Man United against Crystal Palace

* Victor Lindelof could miss Sweden's Nations League clash with Russia
* Lindelof went off at half-time against Turkey after suffering with illness
* The defender should return for Manchester United's game on Saturday

Victor Lindelof is facing a race to be fit for Sweden's Nations League fixture against Russia after suffering with illness.

Lindelof came off at half-time during Sweden's 1-0 victory over Turkey on Saturday.

He could now miss Sweden's match against Russia on Tuesday, with head coach Janne Anderrson monitoring him closely.

Victor Lindelof came off at half-time after feeling unwell during Sweden's win over Turkey. Lindelof should be back in action for Manchester United against Crystal Palace on Saturday

Anderrson said: 'Victor did not feel well but he finished the first half.'

Lindelof's Sweden team-mate Andreas Granqvist told Swedish newspaper SportExpressen: 'I think he felt a little bad before the match and felt a bit dizzy when he started.

'He felt drowsy and without energy and could not continue. It was a cold. He felt ineffective.'

Lindelof may now choose to focus on his recovery so that he is ready to play in time for Manchester United's Premier League match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

No fresh injury concerns for United. Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are all fit. Antonio Valencia is pencilled in for his first appearance since the beginning of October. Luke Shaw must serve a one-match ban. #MUFC

ALEXIS INJURED IN TRAINING

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez sustained a hamstring injury during a training session today (Thursday) and the problem will require further investigation to confirm its severity.

This news comes 12 hours before Jose Mourinho holds his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday morning, as the Reds prepare to face Southampton away in Saturday tea-time's Premier League fixture.

The manager could then give further updates on his squad for the south-coast trip but it seems he will have to rule out Alexis, who appeared as a substitute in the recent league games against Manchester City and Crystal Palace and last started for United in the impressive 2-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League.

Alexis Sanchez suffers more woe as unsettled Manchester United forward could miss Saints and Arsenal games after suffering hamstring injury

* The 29-year-old forward suffered the injury during training on Thursday
* He later uploaded an Instagram post of him receiving treatment at home
* United take on Southampton before facing Sanchez's former club Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez is an injury doubt for Manchester United's trip to Southampton on Saturday and he could also miss the Premier League clash with former club Arsenal at Old Trafford five days later.

The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in training on Thursday and he faces an anxious wait to discover the severity of the setback.

Sanchez later uploaded an Instagram Story post with his right leg wrapped in a recovery contraption.

'It requires further investigation to confirm severity,' a United spokesperson said.

The injury will further add to Sanchez's disappointing time at Old Trafford.

He moved north from Arsenal in the January transfer window as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan but his impact has been limited.

The 29-year-old has scored just four goals for United in 30 appearances and has found a regular first-team place hard to come by.

He was omitted from Tuesday's Champions League win over Young Boys entirely and now appears set for more time on the sidelines.

He is said to be keen on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who are one of the only clubs able to afford anywhere close to his bumper deal at Old Trafford.

The forward, who is paid £350,000 plus bonuses, is easily the highest paid player at the club.

Marcus Rashford is undergoing treatment on an ankle injury in a bid to face Arsenal on Wednesday.

The England international is one of several walking wounded as Manchester United face up to a mounting injury list.

Phil Jones underwent a scan on Monday while Chris Smalling has had further discussion with medical and fitness staff over a foot injury.

Luke Shaw also took a knock at Southampton while Eric Bailly has a back strain. Ashley Young is suspended after picking up a late yellow card on Saturday.

However, Marcos Rojo is fit and available after travelling with the squad at the weekend.

United players were training from 11am on Monday with the atmosphere still tense after Saturday's dressing down from manager Jose Mourinho, which he delivered prior to the game with Southampton.

As Sportsmail revealed, Mourinho underlined to his squad how he felt standards have fallen in a ten minute tirade at the team hotel.

Chris Smallling suffers fractured foot but Manchester United defender still wants to face Arsenal on Wednesday

* Chris Smalling fighting to be fit for Manchester United v Arsenal on Wednesday
* He sat out Saturday's draw at Southampton and has been advised not to play
* Smalling suffered fractured left foot in Champions League win over Young Boys

Chris Smalling is fighting to be fit to play for Manchester United against Arsenal on Wednesday after fracturing a bone in his foot.

The 29-year old sat out Saturday's draw at Southampton and has been advised not to play, but is still eager to figure at Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho facing a defensive crisis.

Smalling is understood to have suffered a hairline fracture on the outside of his left foot during United's Champions League win over Young Boys and has been receiving treatment in the hope of soldiering on.

Mourinho was forced to play Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic alongside Phil Jones in a makeshift defence at Southampton, but Jones is facing a late test after undergoing scans on an injury he picked up on Saturday.

Eric Bailly has a slight back injury while Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia are nursing knocks and Ashley Young is suspended.

However, Marcos Rojo is hoping to play his first competitive game since the World Cup in June.

Smalling will be advised to rest and allow his foot to heal but recognises the pressure his team and manager Mourinho are under to close the gap on the top four.

Mourinho is also waiting to see how striker Marcus Rashford responds to treatment on an ankle injury.

THERE'S A FRESH INJURY UPDATE FROM MOURINHO

Manchester United could be without Phil Jones for Wednesday night's Premier League fixture against Arsenal, however manager Jose Mourinho will give the defender as much time as possible to recover.

Speaking in the second part of his press conference on Tuesday morning, Jose said that the Reds may be without the former England international.

Fellow defenders Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly may also miss out, while Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw could be doubts.

The boss admitted that it will be a race against time for any of them recover to face Unai Emery's Gunners.

“If our game was today, I'd say Jones is not playing, Smalling is not playing and Bailly is not playing but we will have to wait,” Jose said.

“Valencia is not playing. Shaw is a doubt. Darmian is back, but I have to wait. Of course, Lindelof is out of the question.”

Saturday's 2-2 draw on the south coast was Jones' second Premier League appearance of the season and only his fourth in all competitions, having suffered with a hamstring problem at the beginning of the campaign.

The defender was lined up alongside Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay in the heart of the Reds' defence during the match at St Mary's.

When the manager spoke to MUTV earlier on Tuesday, he highlighted how United's back line has been beset with injuries.

“Against Southampton, three hours before the game I didn't know the team that is going to play, so nobody knew the team and ourselves, we didn't know,” he said. “We were waiting and waiting and waiting to see who could, who couldn’t, and I think we are going to be in a similar situation this time.”

United will aim to close the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal to five points when Unai Emery’s side arrive at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday night.

MUTV subscribers can watch 90 minutes of live build-up to the Premier League game from 18:30 GMT.

Romelu Lukaku is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first headache with Manchester United striker set to miss two games on compassionate leave

* Striker Romelu Lukaku is set to miss Manchester United's next two matches
* It is understood that Lukaku is unlikely to return from leave until December 30
* The news comes as an early blow for new United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
* Paul Pogba is set to be restored to the team after being benched for last three

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suffered his first setback as Manchester United’s caretaker manager with star striker Romelu Lukaku set to miss his first two games in charge.

It’s understood that Lukaku has spent this week on compassionate leave and is unlikely to return to the club until Boxing Day. He will not be available to Solskjaer until United face Bournemouth on December 30.

The news is a blow for the 45-year-old Norwegian, who started a six-month stint in charge of United on Thursday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suffered a setback with Romelu Lukaku out for next two games. It is understood that Lukaku is unlikely to return from compassionate leave until December 30

Solskjaer is expected to restore Paul Pogba to the line-up at Cardiff on Saturday after telling the squad they will have a 'clean slate' under him.

Star midfielder Pogba is one of a number of players who fell out with the sacked Jose Mourinho.

The French World Cup winner was dropped to the bench for United's last three Premier League games.

But Solksjaer insisted on Thursday: 'With the amount of games coming up, they will all have a chance to show they are Manchester United players.

'Everyone in the squad knows they have a chance now, because whatever has happened, it has happened. From now, everyone starts on a clean slate and we want players to perform.'

Solskjaer has returned to the club where he was revered as a goalscorer promising to put a smile back on people's faces after a miserable start to the season under Mourinho.

'It's been a whirlwind few days but it feels like coming home,' he added.

'It's six months and I'm going to enjoy the ride. I had the best teacher (Sir Alex Ferguson). The boss is and will always be the best, so my management revolves around what I learned from him.

'I know the club is in the process of finding a new manager and I'm going to be myself in the meantime.

'We just want to get the players enjoying football. We are playing for our supporters, playing for pride, playing for the club, it's history. To be honest, it's going to be very, very special, I have to say.

'I know this club and I understand this club. History, tradition, giving youngsters a chance to play football and winning.

'It's unbelievable how it has developed since I came in 1996. It's huge.

'It's the biggest club in the world, the best supporters in the world and we have the best players in the world.

'I've seen all the teams, so I know a little bit about them, but it's not about the opposition, it's about us.

'It's about Manchester United and making sure the players know what they can do.'

Paul Pogba targets Tottenham clash after recovering from injury to join Manchester United in Dubai

* Midfielder Paul Pogba will join his Manchester United teammates in Dubai
* Pogba initially missed trip through injury and possibility of partner giving birth
* He now hopes to be fit for their Premier League clash away to Tottenham

Paul Pogba has raised hopes that he will be fit for Manchester United's clash with Tottenham at Wembley this weekend after joining the club's warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

Pogba flew out from Manchester Airport on Monday and will spend the remaining two days of the trip with his teammates at the five-star One&Only Royal Mirage Arabian Court.

United face third-placed Spurs on Sunday in caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's biggest test so far, hoping to cut a 10-point gap between the two clubs.

Paul Pogba has joined his Manchester United players at their warm weather camp in Dubai. The Frenchman was initially going to miss the camp after sustaining injury against Newcastle

There were concerns about Pogba's fitness after he was injured in last week's win at Newcastle following an ugly challenge from Jonjo Shelvey.

United's record £89milion record signing subsequently missed the FA Cup tie with Reading at the weekend having claimed four goals and three assists in his first four games under Solskjaer.

Pogba stayed at home when the rest of the squad flew to Dubai straight after the game to have further treatment, although it was thought that the impending birth of his first child with partner Maria Salaues may have been another factor in the decision.

It's understood that teammate Fred has been given permission to miss the training camp and work at Carrington instead because his wife Monique Salum is expecting their first child.

Romelu Lukaku, who was given leave over the Christmas period for personal reasons and missed Solskjaer's first two games in charge, believes the trip to Dubai will only benefit United's team spirit after a 100 per cent winning start under the new manager.

'It's good for us as a team because we're performing really well and now we're going away,' said Lukaku.

'We do a lot of stuff together off the pitch and now we're together for a week - hopefully it will help us become an even tighter unit.'
