Andrey Arshavin Blames Tactics For Arsenal's Manchester United Defeat

Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin believes negative tactics from his side cost them victory against Manchester United last weekend.

The Russian international put the Gunners ahead with a long-range strike late in the first half, but a Wayne Rooney penalty and an Abou Diaby own goal ensured the Red Devils came from behind to win 2-1 at Old Trafford.

After having had time to reflect on the match, the 28-year-old forward believes his own side are to blame for the failure to earn what would have been a significant three points.

"Why did we lose? Once we scored, the team should not have retreated into our half, but instead should have continued to play our brand of game - to attack the goals of the opponent, rather than play to retain the lead,” Arshavin told FourFourTwo.

"In the second half Manchester [United] pressured us a little and this ‘little’ was enough to score two goals against us. After that we started playing again, but it was already not enough.”

He continued, “I am upset with the result – it is three points lost.

“We suffered a first defeat, which, I think, should just give us additional strength. We will draw our conclusions from how this happened.”

The game resulted in a double blow for Arshavin, who, after hobbling off injured in the closing stages, now misses Russia's match against Liechtenstein.

Capello hails Arsenal academy as "incredible"

England boss Fabio Capello has described Arsenal's academy work as "incredible".

He said: “I’m very lucky, because I’ve had the opportunity to look at Arsenal’s academy where the England team train and their work is incredibly good. It’s a very important example for the other English academies. I’m very interested in the academies of the clubs in England, but they all seem to be working very well.

“I’m very, very happy about the future of England and I think it will be better.”

Ini klo nggak salah adalah kali kedua Capello memuji akademi milik Arsenal. sebenernya apa yang bikin akademi arsenal diberbeda sama akademi yang lain dan sampe dibilang capello "incredible". klo dari sisi fasilitas aku yakin MU sama bahkan bisa lebih baik tapi apa yang berbeda????

Yang dipuji capello kan akademi arsenal... aku penasaran apanya yang "incredible" seperti kata capello untuk akademi arsenal... aku harap MU yang dapet pujian itu,tapi ternyata arsenal.. Why?

Wenger Pertimbangkan Kontrak Gallas

LONDON, KOMPAS.com - Pelatih Arsenal, Arsene Wenger mengaku senang melihat semakin solidnya kerja sama William Gallas dan Thomas Vermaelen di jantung pertahanan "The Gunners". Ia mengatakan, akan mempertimbangkan kemungkinan perpanjangan kontrak Gallas.

Kontrak Gallas akan habis akhir musim ini. Media Inggris mengklaim, Arsenal sebetulnya ingin menjual Gallas pada bursa transfer lalu, menyusul inkonsistensi permas, konflik dengan Kolo Toure, dan buruknya relasi dengan sejumlah pemain lain.

Gallas kemudian dipertahankan karena sepinya peminat. Selain itu, hengkangnya Toure ke Manchester City dan pindahnya ban kapten kepada Cesc Fabregas, membuat Wenger berpikir memberikan kesempatan kedua untuk Gallas.

Setelah melewati empat pekan pertama Premier League musim ini, Wenger melihat adanya peningkatan kualitas permainan Gallas. Ia berpikir, itu berkaitan dengan kehadiran Vermaelen. Ia pun berencana memberikan kontrak baru untuk Gallas.

"Gallas dan Vermaelen terlihat nyaman dalam bekerja sama dan baik satu sama lain. Sulit untuk mengetahui, siapa yang membuat yang lainnya bagus. Saya akan menguji kontrak William pada bulan Desember. Namun, tanda-tandanya bagus untuk Gallas," ujar Wenger. (NOTW)
