Manchester United keep tabs on £3m-rated Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic but could face competition from Chelsea

* Manchester United sent scouts to watch Serbian youngster Marko Grujic
* United are laying plans for the future and are keen on the 19-year-old
* Grujic, a 6ft 3in midfielder, scored against FK Rad Beograd last weekend
* But, Chelsea are also known to have made several checks on his progress

Manchester United are watching Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic.

The Old Trafford club sent their Belgrade-based scout to check on the 19-year-old in the local derby against FK Rad Beograd last Saturday.

Grujic, a 6ft 3in central midfielder, opened the scoring with a spectacular 30-yard shot in a 3-0 win.

United are laying plans for the future with Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the twilight stage of their careers.

However, Chelsea, who have strong ties with Red Star, or Crvena Zvezda as they are also known, have also made regular checks on Grujic's progress.

He starred in Serbia Under 20s' World Cup win in New Zealand earlier this year and is being compared favourably in his homeland with Chelsea's Nemanja Matic.

Red Star, who can boast a number of promising young players in their squad, would want at least £3million for the teenager.

Meanwhile, Carrick believes United have a squad to cope with the demands of Champions League football and a Premier League title challenge.

Carrick, 34, returns to Moscow, the scene of one of his greatest triumphs as a player, before facing up to a Manchester derby at the weekend.

He said: 'That’s the thing. That is what the Champions League throws up. You have got big league games the weekend straight after and that is something you have got to adapt to. We have certainly got the squad to accommodate that.'

The United midfielder is one of two survivors from the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea, Wayne Rooney is the other, as United prepare to face CSKA Moscow in Group B on Wednesday.

Carrick successfully converted his penalty in the decisive shootout of 2008 before celebrating when Edwin van der Sar saved from Nicolas Anelka.

'I feel, for me, it’s by far my greatest achievement so far and the best feeling I have ever had was in Moscow,' Carrick told Inside United. 'It’s a special place for me and everybody else who has got such great memories from there.

'But it’s a tough place to go to play against CSKA. It won’t be easy and it’s quite a long journey with tough conditions but we’ll look forward to it.'

United lost their Champions League opener to PSV Eindhoven but went on to beat Wolfsburg.

Van Gaal Ngotot Bajak Donnarumma dari AC Milan



Bos Manchester United, Louis van Gaal, ternyata membuat kejutan yang sangat serius. Ia ingin membajak superkid milik AC Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma, pada musim panas lalu.

Donnarumma yang baru berusia 16 tahun jadi bahan pembicaraan di sepak bola Italia pekan ini. Semua setelah ia membuat debut bersama AC Milan di Serie A. Lalu, I Rossoneri meraih kemenangan saat melawan Sassuolo pada Minggu (25/10).

Menurut laporan Calciomercato.com, Van Gaal telah diberi informasi mengenai Donnarumma musim panas lalu. Info yang diterima eks pelatih tim nasional (timnas) Belanda setelah Euro U17 dan Donnarumma tampil luar biasa pada ajang itu.

Pelatih asal Belanda itu menyebutkan kalau agen anak muda itu, Mino Raiola, langsung ditemuinya. Van Gaal pun mengajukan tawaran untuk bisa membawa Donnarumma ke markas Man. United, Old Trafford.

Van Gaal memiliki hubungan yang baik dengan Raiola dan yakin bisa mendapatkan kesepakatan atas keinginannya itu. Bahkan, Van Gaal serta Raiole sudah melakukan negosiasi dan menyiapkan Sergio Romero sebagai tambahan transaksi.

There is no surprise that Louis van Gaal and Manchester United are desperately pinning their faith in Wayne Rooney coming good again. Having given him a massive long-term contract that runs until 2019, they effectively owe him £45million in wages – a mouth-watering tab that no other club is going to pick up.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward's decision in February 2014 to hand Rooney, then 28, a five-and-a-half year deal worth around £250,000 a week was a gamble at the time, and out of sync with the policy of most clubs nowadays towards ageing players.

However, United were fading badly under David Moyes back then and the club as a whole needed a huge PR victory after being strung along by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rooney was in decent enough form and coveted by Chelsea so they took the plunge. But now Rooney is struggling for form and goals, the length of the contract looks like a prison sentence.

Whereas Sir Alex Ferguson moved on David Beckham, Roy Keane and Ruud van Nistelrooy when they had outgrown their usefulness, Van Gaal is stuck with Rooney.

The wages alone owed to Rooney would put clubs off, and that's without a transfer fee being taken into the equation.


Rooney is on an estimated £250,000 per week at Manchester United - but he is struggling to prove his worth

It is no wonder that Van Gaal has little option but to keep on boosting the player's confidence and hope he has the deep desire to become the Rooney of old on the pitch.

At the moment, there is a little sign. At 30, Rooney still has the technical ability to look up from a deeper position and read the game in front of him with a clever pass or lay-off.

But the way he lumbered to try and reach Anthony Martial's through ball and outfox goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey against Crystal Palace on Saturday was painful to watch for those who have rightly hailed him as the outstanding player of his generation.

In the Capital One Cup tie against Middlesbrough, the second of United's three consecutive goalless draws going into Tuesday night's Champions League match against CSKA Moscow, there was a symbolic moment when Martial dribbled into the penalty area with such pace that Rooney couldn't get out of the way in time.

There were groans from the United fans as the two players bumped into each other and a promising move was undone.

The private concern for Van Gaal must be whether Rooney still has enough desire to make the sacrifices needed to remain an influence on the pitch. His leadership in the dressing-room can't be questioned.

Rooney already has the England goalscoring record he always cherished and he can hang around Old Trafford long enough without being prolific to break Sir Bobby Charlton's club record.

For the youngster from Croxteth, it would seem money has always been important. He handed in a transfer request in 2010 claiming he was worried by United's lack of ambition. Miraculously, that concern was dropped when a new, greatly-improved contract offer was made almost immediately.

His initial desire to join Chelsea in the summer of 2013 was forgotten in February 2014 when United broke the bank to keep him. It was clear United wouldn't even qualify for the Champions League but Rooney still put long-term financial benefit first.

That doesn't make him a bad person, and many footballers and people in other professions would do the same. But neither is he a martyr to Manchester United.

Van Gaal has criticised many of his players during his spell at Old Trafford; Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and youngsters like Memphis Depay among them.

But Rooney is off-limits even as United fans call on social media for him to be dropped, or at least dropped further back down the field.

'I'm sick of it,' said the United manager when questioned for the umpteenth time about the striker who has failed to score in 12 of the 16 United matches he's played in this season.

He may be sick of it, but inside the corridors of power they will be asking: 'What do you do with a £45m problem like Wayne Rooney?'

At the moment, United are stuck with him for better or worse til the summer of 2019 when he will be nearly 34.

Salah satu klub besar Premier League, Manchester United, dikabarkan tengah mendekati striker Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Manajemen The Red Devils juga diberitakan sedikit lagi memboyong striker asal Swedia tersebut.

Masa depan Zlatan Ibrahimovic kini tengah dalam pembicaraan. Pada musim panas 2015, ia memilih untuk menolak AC Milan dan tetap memperkuat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Meskipun masih menjadi bomber utama PSG, Ibrahimovic santer diberitakan akan meninggalkan Parc des Princes. Menurut kabar yang dilansir Fichajes, mantan striker Barcelona tersebut kini tengah didekati dengan Manchester United.

Manchester United juga dikabarkan sedikit lagi mendatangkan Ibrahimovic pada bursa transfer musim dingin 2016. Ia juga diisukan hampir mencapai kesepakatan dengan klub besutan Louis van Gaal tersebut.

Musim ini, Ibrahimovic telah mencetak 12 gol di semua kompetisi sejauh ini. Kontrak striker berusia 34 tahun tersebut juga akan habis pada musim panas mendatang. Selain dikaitkan dengan The Red Devils, ia juga diisukan akan pindah ke Major League Soccer (MLS).

'So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.’

United will also assess bringing in a new a left-back though Luke Shaw is making steady progress from his broken leg.
