Stoke eye United star

Stoke are reported to have joined the hunt to sign Manchester United winger Memphis Depay when the transfer window opens.

The Dutchman has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford after signing for the Reds last summer, and reports are rife he will be on the move during the close season.

Liverpool and West Ham have already been heavily linked with a move, but now Stoke are said to have joined the hunt after Ibrahim Afellay picked up a serious knee injury.

Potters boss Mark Hughes has already admitted he may have to look to the transfer market to sign a replacement, so it comes as no surprise to see Depay's name mentioned.

Reports suggest Manchester United have not given up hope on Depay, but could be open to a season-long loan deal at the Britannia Stadium, something which would also suit the Potters.

Manchester United target Matthew Knox has 'a lot of clubs interested', says Livingston manager David Hopkin after his first start

* Matthew Knox, 16, made his first start for Livingston on Tuesday evening
* Young striker has had trials at Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs
* Manager David Hopkin says there is a lot of interest in his young star
* But Hopkin wants to keep hold of the striker for at least two more years

Livingston manager David Hopkin has admitted there are 'a lot of clubs' interested in his 16-year-old starlet Matthew Knox.

The teenage forward went on trial with Manchester United in January having also spent short stints with Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton.

And having made his first start in the 1-0 victory over Rangers on Tuesday night, Knox's manager Hopkin hinted that interest from high-profile clubs is on the rise.

There are 'a lot of clubs' said to be interested in Livingston's 16-year-old striker Matthew Knox

'There is a lot of clubs interested in him,' Hopkin said.

'I have spoken to the board and my preference is to keep him here for another two years. He has only turned 16 and he is playing against Rangers and doesn't look out of place.

'For a young boy to play for 75 minutes at that level I thought (was) great.

'I think the board are going back me and hopefully down the road when he is ready to go he will go, but he will go a better player because he has so much talent it is frightening.'

Knox caught the eye of the big boys last summer with his display in a friendly against Real Sociedad and that has prompted invites to Premier League sides, as Sportsmail reported earlier this year.

He was looked after by Everton captain Phil Jagielka during his week at their Finch Farm training ground while Tottenham allowed him to watch the first-team train after playing in games for their youth sides. He also managed to score while at Liverpool.

Knox became Livingston's youngest ever player when he made his debut with a late run-out in the 4-1 Boxing Day win over St Mirren, coming just four days after his 16th birthday, beating the club record set by Leigh Griffiths.

He has made seven first-team appearances in total, but Tuesday night's was his first start.

Manchester United ready to swap Memphis Depay to seal Sadio Mane transfer

Man United are desperate to land Sadio Mane this summer

Manchester United are reportedly ready to swap Memphis Depay for Southampton’s Sadio Mane in the summer transfer window.

It’s understood Mane has been a target for the Red Devils since last summer but the 24-year-old remained at St Mary’s for the 2015/16 campaign.

However, United are desperate to land the Senegalese midfielder at the end of the season and will offer Depay to seal a deal, according to the Daily Star.

Depay arrived at Old Trafford for a fee of £25million from PSV Eindhoven only last year but the Dutch international has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Saints manager Ronald Koeman is known to be an avid admirer of the winger.

Manchester United’s midfielder Fellaini rumoured to move to Roma

The unsettled Marouane Fellaini could be offloaded by Manchester United to Serie A giants Roma in the summer.

The 28 year old sparked rumours of an impending departure after he was spotted with his agent Luciano D’Onofrio at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday when Roma put paid to any hopes Napoli had of winning the league title. He was pictured sitting in the audience (via Goal.com).

The Transfer Fee

Gazzetta dello Sport ran a story on Tuesday suggesting that the Lupi might be interested in Fellaini with a bid of 15 million euros ready (via FootballItalia). Any potential deal would be an immediate loan with an option to buy.

Fellaini was offered to Roma in the last transfer window, but nothing came off it as the club already had a packed midfield. As the season draws to a close, however, the club directors know that it would be hard to resist offers from abroad for their star names like Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan. The latter is being reportedly courted by United’s rivals Chelsea.

Is the move a possibility?

Fellaini’s agent spoke to Tuttomercatoweb and said, “He was probably there on holiday. For the moment I have no other news. So far I’ve had no contact with Roma for him.”

“Would that move be acceptable? Yes, Roma is a possibility to consider,” he concluded.

It was also widely reported that Fellaini was having dinner with Roma stars Salih Ucan, Pjanic and his countryman Nainggolan.

A Future in Rome

Fellaini, ever since he was brought to the club for 27.5 million pounds, has failed to replicate his Everton form in United colours. He has scored 3 goals in all competitions this season in 31 appearances. With Nainggolan and perhaps Pjanic too reportedly on his way out of the club, Spaletti would want a replacement who could be the pivot in midfield. Fellaini could be just that player for Roma. For Fellaini, this would be a good move as well, getting a fresh start in a new country and league.

Rating Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Sergio Busquets to Old Trafford?

As the summer comes closer, the list of players linked to Manchester United is growing once again. With 27 players linked to United in the last week, it can be tough to differentiate between reality and rumour. Once an Arsenal youth product, news has surfaced saying Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is unsettled at the Emirates and wants a move, and Arsene Wenger is reportedly willing to let him go. Benfica’s star midfielder Renato Sanches is lighting up the world at just 18, and he’s linked with a high-profile switch to England this summer. Finally, contract talks have stalled between Barcelona and stalwart midfielder Sergio Busquets, and reports say he is looking to switch to English football this summer.

Will Manchester United be moving for any of these players? If so, could we see them at Old Trafford next season? Would it be a good move for United looking forward?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Matt Henderson: You have to laugh sometimes, don’t you? The simply absurd nature of this rumour falls well into this category. However, there are worse options out there definitely. Though he may never have hit the promised heights of his early career he still is very much capable of conjuring something up. But he really hasn’t excelled at Arsenal and wouldn’t be someone that United should look to sign as he is no better than what is currently on offer at the club.

Likelihood of Transfer: 2/10
Quality of Transfer: 2/10

Aaron Moniz: Though he was a youth star, Oxlade-Chamberlain has since failed to kick on and I’m not sure he would have the consistent opportunity to do so at United. The club already seems to have more talented youth stars than Chamberlain, and Arsenal would probably charge United an excessive fee for a player of his level. United would be better served to make a move for FK Partisan’s Andrija Zivkovic, who is three years younger and the youngest to ever play for Serbia’s national team. Zivkovic would come on a free transfer because his contract expires at the end of the season.

Likelihood of Transfer: 4/10
Quality of Transfer: 5/10

Paul Bienkowski: Some of the rumours coming out of the rumour mills are just laughable. It is like they have come from someone who just does not understand football at all. A few years ago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a player with prospects and the ingredients for something special. Fast forward a few years; he cannot get into the Arsenal side as a starter, he seems to struggle and above all, he seems to be past his best and all before he reaches the age of 23. To read that Manchester United are ‘apparently’ monitoring him this summer would just suggest to me that the club are scraping the barrel if that is, of course, true. My Victor Meldrew moment; “I don’t believe it.”

Likelihood of Transfer: 2/10
Quality of Transfer: 3/10

Renato Sanches

Matt Henderson: I will admit that I haven’t seen a great deal of this lad. But what I’ve heard has all been positive and more about the 18-year-old wonderkid. He’s apparently tearing it up in Portugal and is a real prospect if you believe what you read. Strong, quick, skillful, loves a tackle and is partial to a goal or two, if the hype is right about him then he is right up United’s street in the middle of the park. The one concern is ‘Anderson Syndrome’ but if he can join and stay on track there’s definite potential.

Likelihood of Transfer: 8/10
Quality of Transfer: 7/10

Aaron Moniz: I’ve only watched him a couple of times, but I’m very impressed with Sanches overall. At just 18, he’s been one of the best midfielders in Europe this season, and he’s been spectacular from beginning to end this year. United seems to be struggling to replace Michael Carrick, and if they brought in Sanches he would probably be the part. That being said, for the £40 million fee I saw touted, United would probably be reluctant to spend so much on a youth product right after Anthony Martial and Memphis.

Likelihood of Transfer: 6/10
Quality of Transfer: 7/10

Paul Bienkowski: This young Portuguese midfielder is one of the most promising players in Europe at this moment in time. Rising through the ranks into the first team at Benfica and taking huge steps since his debut. He’s fast, strong and determined and seems to fit the profile of what a Manchester United midfielder should be doing. It seems a lot of money, but just look at the money paid for Anthony Martial last summer, and so far that seems to be a bargain for a player like him. If Sanches does make the move and does well, United will have done some good business once again.

Likelihood of Transfer: 7/10
Quality of Transfer: 7/10

Sergio Busquets

Matt Henderson: I’m a long-term admirer of Sergio Busquets. As a defensive midfielder, there aren’t many better out there than the Spaniard. There can be absolutely no doubts about his talent and the stats speak for themselves, the only question surrounding his transfer is whether he’d flee Barcelona or not. The chances of it are slim, but anything is possible in football, so if there is any sniff of an opportunity then it should be leapt upon. As far as strengthening the middle goes, Busquets ticks all the boxes.

Likelihood of Transfer: 3/10
Quality of Transfer: 9/10

Aaron Moniz: Of every player currently at Barcelona, Sergio Busquets, in my books, seemed the least likely to leave. However, apparently contracts have stalled. As a deal, this one is a no-brainer. If Busquets is available, he is one of the five best midfielders in the world and United cannot allow anyone else to snap him up. If Busquets lined up alongside Morgan Schneiderlin, United would not concede goals at all. However, Busquets seems to love Barcelona, and the Catalonians would not sell him cheaply.

Likelihood of Transfer: 2/10
Quality of Transfer: 8.5/10

Paul Bienkowski: Sergio Busquets is a quality player and is an asset to Barcelona based on the fact he can play in a few vital positions. The midfield is something which Manchester United have struggled in recently, with Wayne Rooney’s role in the midfield recently benefiting the club. Busquets would be a dream signing for any club, but you just have to ask why he would leave Barcelona, a side who despite having some troubles, are not all that far away from being the finished product once again. Why would you leave a team where you can play alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, among others.

Likelihood of Transfer: 1/10
Quality of Transfer: 8/10

Ditanya United butuh dia apa engga, rasanya belum.

Big amennnn for Busquets!

Why Anthony Martial Is the Man Manchester United Can't Afford to Lose in Summer

There are, in truth, two players in the Manchester United squad the club needs to keep hold of this summer: Anthony Martial and David De Gea. Of the two, though, it is holding on to the brilliant young Frenchman that is most crucial to the Red Devils.

That might run contrary to received wisdom.

After all, the counterargument reads De Gea is closer to being the finished article than Martial. He is—while the term is generally ephemeral and hard to pin down—truly worthy of the label world-class. In this case, the usage is based on the fact almost any team in the world would be improved by his presence.

That might not yet be the case for Martial, but there are two key reasons why—were push to come to shove—it should be he United keep on their books.

The first is about the PR of the thing. De Gea's presence at United is a bonus. It should have been all over; there should have been a season of getting used to having Keylor Navas between the sticks at Old Trafford. The Costa Rican told Cadena COPE he got as far as the airport last summer before learning he would be staying in Madrid after all (h/t the Press Association, via the Guardian).

Thus, if United lost De Gea this summer, they could at least take comfort from the fact he stayed for one more year—a year in which he made a telling contribution.

The superb season Navas has enjoyed for Real Madrid—as Tim Collins recently covered for Bleacher Report—is the second key reason the prospect of losing De Gea is less threatening, particularly if last summer's move is resurrected and Navas travels in the other direction. The drop in quality would hardly be precipitous.

Indeed, in an AS survey in March, 79 per cent of Madrid fans voted in favour of keeping Navas rather than investing in De Gea.

Losing Martial, though, would feel like the kind of hammer blow losing De Gea would have been last summer.

The France international has been a shining light in a long, dull season. His winner in the 93rd minute of the FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley on Saturday sparked jubilant scenes, and United fans sang a song in his honour long after the final whistle.

As fans spilled out of the stadium and congregated to celebrate, it was the late-goal hero they saluted.

It was his 14th goal of the season in all competitions. In addition, he has seven United assists to his name—as well as one for AS Monaco that predates his summer deadline-day transfer and three for his national team, per WhoScored.com.

That would be a thoroughly decent contribution for an established star wide forward. For a player who was 19 when the season began—for whom this is his first campaign on the world stage in earnest—it is outstanding.

Martial has the potential to become a symbol for United's re-emergence from the fall that followed Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013. While Louis van Gaal has got a great deal wrong during his time in charge, he has begun to build an attack around young and talented forwards who could be talismanic during the next era of the club's history.

To lose Martial now would be a huge blow to that project.

Football being what it is, new heroes would emerge. But given his huge talent, how effective he already is and what that tells us about what he could become, holding on to Martial for the next few years should be priority No. 1 for the Red Devils hierarchy.

They simply cannot afford to lose him this summer.

Manchester United and Manchester City told by Barcelona what Sergio Busquets would cost to buy

The Nou Camp midfielder has attracted attention from Man Utd and Man City as well as Chelsea but is highly valued by his current employers.

Manchester City and United have been told they would have to break the bank to prise Sergio Busquets away from Barcelona.

Both Manchester clubs have been linked with the Spanish star, while Chelsea are also said to be interested.

The strongest link has been with City where incoming manager Pep Guardiola already has a strong relationship with the player, who he managed during his time at the Nou Camp.

But Busquets is embroiled in talks over a new contract with the Calatan giants.

And Barca aren't about to give any potential suitors encouragement that their man is available.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report they have told the Premier League trio they will have to activate an massive £128million buy-out clause if they are to land Busquets.

The 27-year-old is one of the world's top midfielders and Barca are determined to keep hold of him.
