Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs Bournemouth
PREVIEW: MANCHESTER UNITED V BOURNEMOUTH Setting the scene... Following Sunday's defeat in the Manchester derby, which was the first at Old Trafford this year, United are determined to bounce back with a convincing win in Wednesday's Premier League match against Bournemouth. A victory is needed, too, considering Pep Guardiola’s City are now 11 points clear at the top of the table after 16 matches played. Any early team news? The boss told MUTV that he doesn't know yet whether Marcos Rojo will be able to face the Cherries, after the defender suffered a nasty cut to the head on Sunday and was substituted at half-time. Victor Lindelof replaced him at centre-back and performed admirably, while Phil Jones was also on the bench, so Jose Mourinho has options in defence. Elsewhere, Marouane Fellaini appears to be edging closer to fitness and could feature, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is presumably ready after making his fifth cameo appearance of the season. Paul Pogba is still suspended as part of the three-match ban received for his red card at Arsenal. For the Cherries, Adam Smith is back from a ban but fellow full-backs Tyrone Mings and Brad Smith could miss out. Here’s a word from Juan Mata… “This week, we have two more games: the day after tomorrow against Bournemouth, and Sunday against West Brom. The list of fixtures is very demanding this month so it’s important to get to each game in the best condition possible. I think we have the ability to do it, even though we know these are the toughest weeks of the season. We are Manchester United and we have experience in playing every few days.” What is Bournemouth’s form like? The Cherries drew 2-2 against lowly Crystal Palace last time out, thanks to a brace of goals from 35-year-old striker Jermain Defoe at Selhurst Park. That point has left them in 14th place with 16 points, only three above the relegation zone, but Eddie Howe's team are encouraged by a four-match unbeaten run in away matches. In case you’re wondering (which you probably weren’t), our upcoming visitors will wear their blue kit at the Theatre of Dreams. What happened last season? Bournemouth drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on 4 March, following goals from Rojo and ex-Red Joshua King. The game was overshadowed by two collisions between Ibrahimovic and Mings, which resulted in both players later receiving retrospective bans. Andrew Surman was also sent off on the day for two bookable offences, including a push on Zlatan. Who is the referee? Graham Scott from Oxfordshire has been appointed to this fixture, and it will be his second United match this season following the 4-1 win over Burton Albion back in September. Adam Nunn and Richard West will be his assistants, with Mike Dean on fourth-official duties. It’s not on TV, right? That’s correct! Wednesday’s 20:00 GMT kick-off will not be broadcast live in the UK, so MUTV is the only place that will show live build-up from 18:00. Subscribers can also listen to radio commentary before seeing the full game on the club channel from midnight. Are tickets still available? Yes they are, but they are moving quickly so make sure you act quickly by contacting the ticket office or visiting the ticket section of the website. Good luck! What's your prediction? These are the six other Premier League fixtures on Wednesday night: Newcastle United v Everton (19:45 GMT) Southampton v Leicester City (19:45 GMT) Swansea City v Manchester City (19:45 GMT) Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion (20:00 GMT) Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion (20:00 GMT) West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal (20:00 GMT) www.manutd.com |

Re: [EPL] Manchester United 1-0 Bournemouth
Jose Mourinho pleased by Manchester United attitude as Red Devils dig in to defeat Bournemouth in the aftermath of heated derby defeat
* Jose Mourinho has praised the attitude of his Manchester United side * The Red Devils were desperate to get back to winning ways at Old Trafford * Mourinho's side entered the match off the back of their defeat by rivals City Jose Mourinho was pleased with Manchester United's response to their derby loss as they overcame Bournemouth 1-0 at Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal on Wednesday as United got back to winning ways after their damaging, demoralising and controversial defeat to arch-rivals and Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday. United boss Mourinho said of his players: 'I think (they had a) very good attitude, very good determination to win. 'I think every team, after a defeat, tries not to have a second defeat and that was in the back of their minds when they were playing. 'They wanted to win the match and I could see that from minute one to the last second.' Jose Mourinho was pleased with Manchester United's response to their recent derby loss Bournemouth manager Howe thought his team were unfortunate not to get something out of the game. He said: 'I felt we had a really good first half, especially the first 20-25 minutes. I thought we dominated the game but the first time they got near our goal they scored. That was difficult to take. 'We were good in most areas and disciplined out of possession. The players delivered the gameplan really well and we looked like we had a real cutting edge. We created chances right up until the end.' Howe suggested United goalscorer Romelu Lukaku could have been sent off. The striker escaped a booking for a bad challenge on Nathan Ake early on and was later booked for a foul on Harry Arter. Howe said: 'I thought the first tackle was a yellow card. He was very late on Nathan. Then he picked up another one which was a clear yellow. He should have been off the pitch. 'I don't want to go on about referees again but he missed a couple there and then the first tackle we make we get a yellow. That was difficult.' Code:
