Manchester United are looking to bring in Jules Kounde AND Raphael Varane as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to further bolster his defence with with the 22-year-old Sevilla man

* Manchester United want to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer
* United are looking to bring in Kounde as well as Real Madrid's Raphael Varane
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made defensive signings one of his top priorities
* Kounde has established himself as one of the best young defenders in Europe

Manchester United are preparing a move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in addition to their pursuit of Raphael Varane.

United are pushing ahead with a move for Real Madrid star Varane, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also keen on a deal for Varane's French international team-mate Kounde.

Solskjaer has made defensive reinforcements one of his top priorities this summer and Kounde has been on United's wanted list for some time.

Kounde, who was part of France's squad at this summer's Euros, has established himself as one of the best young defenders in Europe since joining Sevilla from Bordeaux in 2019.

A number of clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in Kounde, but United are ready to offer him the opportunity of a move to Old Trafford.

Kounde's potential and versatility in that he can also play at right-back fits the criteria for the young type of player Solskjaer is looking to add to his squad at United.

Sevilla are reluctant to lose Kounde, who is under contract until 2024, but they are bracing themselves for offers for the 22-year-old before the close of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer said following United's pre-season friendly defeat to QPR on Saturday that he hopes Paul Pogba will commit his future to the club.

'The talks are ongoing between Paul's representatives and our club representatives,' said Solskjaer.

'There is always speculation about Paul and there are always clubs being interested because of course we have seen Paul at his best.

'I'm not in the detail of every single one of the discussions but Paul knows what we feel about it. I have enjoyed my time working with Paul and hopefully we can [continue] working together.

'All the dialogue I've had with Paul is he's looking forward to the new season.'

United have already completed one major signing this summer, with Jadon Sancho arriving from Borussia Dortmund for £73million.

Manchester United weigh up a move for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez amid growing belief a deal can be struck for around £45m... as the club target a top-level midfielder with PSG ready to table an offer for Paul Pogba

* Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez is a target for Manchester United this summer
* Saul has been on United's radar for a while but his buyout clause was an issue
* There is now a belief that a deal could be wrapped up for £45m in this window
* United want a top-level midfielder with PSG ready to make a bid for Paul Pogba

Manchester United are exploring a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

The 26-year-old has been on United's radar for some time though his £128million buy out clause was an obvious obstacle.

However, with Atletico under increasing financial strain, there is a growing belief a deal could be struck this window closer to £45m.

United want a top level midfielder with Paris St Germain ready to make an offer for Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, who figured against QPR on Saturday, weighing up his options.

Saul is under contract until 2026 and is one of Atletico's highest earners. He has been offered to Barcelona and Juventus in recent weeks, indeed talks had developed over a swap with Barca's Antoine Griezmann only for wages to become an issue.

Liverpool also admire Saul but they are unlikely to buy unless they sell another midfielder.

That leaves United best placed. Any move is likely to be treated separately to one for Atletico full-back Kieran Trippier.

The England full-back is eager to join United but Atletico are more desperate to sell Saul and move his considerable wages off their books.

United have discussed Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes but are more inclined to wait for the 18-year-old's contract to run out next summer.

Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka is also an option but he would prefer to reach an agreement over a new deal with the German champions.

Much will hinge on what funds United have left after their move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

They are still to find agreement on personal terms for the France centre-back and once that is in place they will make their formal offer.

Meanwhile, United full-back Alex Telles has twisted an ankle which will rule him out for a few weeks while winger Tahith Chong has joined up with Birmingham City for his season loan.

David Moyes 'pushing West Ham to sign Man United's forgotten man Phil Jones on a free transfer', with Hammers considering offering him a 'highly-incentivised contract'

* David Moyes is keen to reunite with former Man United defender Phil Jones
* West Ham boss Moyes managed Jones at Old Trafford between 2013-14
* Jones has not made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils in 18 months
* United are contemplating letting him leave for free to open up space in squad

West Ham boss David Moyes is looking to reunite with Phil Jones at the London Stadium this summer, according to reports.

Moyes worked with Jones while manager of Manchester United between 2013-14, before he was eventually sacked after struggling to live up to the billing as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.

And according to Eurosport, Moyes is keen to work with Jones again and is pushing West Ham to sign United's forgotten centre back on a free transfer.

United are reportedly considering whether to let Jones, whose contract expires in 2023, leave on a free transfer this summer to open up space within their squad and trim the wage bill in their bid to build upon the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and the imminent signing of Raphael Varane.

Man United's Phil Jones has emerged as a transfer target for West Ham boss David Moyes. Moyes is desperate to build upon West Ham's sixth-placed finish in last term's Premier League. Moyes is keen to reunite with Jones, having briefly managed him at United between 2013-14

The Hammers are waiting to discover whether Jones would be up for the challenge, and are considering offering him a highly-incentivised contract to join the club.

It has been reported that West Ham would offer Jones a low base salary but with tempting add-ons based on appearances.

Jones' injury record serves as a concern for the Hammers, with the 29-year-old having not featured for United's first team for 18 months now due to a long-standing knee problem.

Jones also has interest from Newcastle, and is desperate to enjoy regular action again in the Premier League.

Jones has played 224 times for United since joining from Blackburn in 2011, winning one Premier League title under legendary manager Ferguson, one FA Cup and the Europa League.

While Moyes wants to bring in a central defender, he is also looking to sign a midfielder and striker this summer.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has reportedly attracted interest from the Hammers, while they are also keen on West Brom's exciting playmaker Matheus Pereira.

dilepas aja, apalagi dengan kedatangan Varane bakal gak dapat tempat. siapa tau ditangan Moyes, Jones bisa jadi jago lagi kayak Evans, minimal bersinar kembali kayak Lingard. ato dilepas sepaket sama Lingard, beli Lingard bonus Jones.

Newcastle 'pushing to sign Man United defender Axel Tuanzebe with Steve Bruce urging club's hierarchy to make a breakthrough in the transfer market after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Arsenal's Joe Willock'

* Newcastle are reportedly hoping to sign Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United
* The Magpies are yet to bring in any new players ahead of the new season
* Steve Bruce is said to want three or four signings in the transfer market

Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe with Steve Bruce desperate to strengthen his squad before the start of the new season.

The Magpies, who finished 12th in the 2020-2021 campaign, are yet to bring in any new faces with the club still waiting on a decision from Arsenal over their approach for Joe Willock.

But Tuanzebe could become their first summer signing, according to The Telegraph.

United are edging closer to a deal for Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane, which would see Tuanzebe fall further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The defender played under Bruce during two separate loan spells with Aston Villa and the report claims both a loan and a permanent deal have been discussed between the two clubs.

The 23-year-old was on the periphary of United's first-team squad last season, with just four starts in the Premier League and a further five in all comeptitions.

Newcastle are reportedly pushing to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe

Willock has returned to pre-season training with Arsenal and featured in their 2-2 draw with Rangers on July 17.

Newcastle remain hopeful of signing the midfielder but Bruce admitted that Arsenal need to give them an answer soon.

'Of course we want him back, he did great with us and gives us another dimension in midfield that we haven't got,' Bruce said after his side beat Doncaster Rovers 3-2 in a friendly last Friday.

'We'll keep bashing away at it.'

Willock played a crucial role in helping the Magpies move away from the relegation battle with eight goals in 14 Premier League appearances after joining on loan in January.

The club's hopes of a deal for Willock have been boosted by Arsenal signing Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht and Emile Smith Rowe signing a long-term deal. But Bruce wants a firm answer.

'With Arsenal, what are they going to do?' he added.

'They've brought in two midfield players. That's our starting point, with Joe, because let's be fair, he had an unbelievable three or four months with us. But there has to be a time where we know – is it going to be yes or no?

'We're only allowed two domestic loans, and we're only allowed one from each club. So, there has to come a time when there's a cut-off, and we have to find out what's happening. We're still trying our utmost, whether it's on loan or to buy him. We're still trying.'

Manchester United 'face selling £50m Paul Pogba OR £30m Jesse Lingard with the club plotting a net spend of £75m-100m' this summer... and exits are needed to bring in a midfielder and target Kieran Trippier

* Manchester United look set to have to sell stars to keep spending this summer
* Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are two of the players that could leave the club
* United are reportedly looking for a net spend of between £75million to £100m
* Exits would allow them to pursue a new midfielder and Atletico's Kieran Trippier

Manchester United are set to have to offload players in order to continue their superb summer with the club eyeing up a net spend of between £75million to £100m, according to reports.

Jadon Sancho's £73m move from Borussia Dortmund was officially confirmed last week and United are imminently set to unveil Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane as their latest big-name arrival for £42m.

But once Varane joins the club, United may then have to focus on selling the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard in order to pursue their other targets, as claimed by the Telegraph.

Manchester United face selling Paul Pogba (centre) or Jesse Lingard (left) to keep spending. Pogba is a target for PSG and has shown no indications of wanting to sign a new deal at United

It is believed that centre back Varane will cost United around £42m in total, including £8m in add-ons, meaning they have splashed out around £115m already - and this will likely see them look to broker at least one 'significant' sale.

A new midfielder and Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier are on the club's wishlist over the next few weeks, but these chases appear to heavily rely on whether Pogba and Lingard are allowed to leave.

United are under pressure to sell Pogba with Paris Saint-Germain holding strong interest in their superstar midfielder. Sportsmail has recently reported that Mino Raiola is discussing personal terms with the club.

Although Pogba would still command a hefty price tag, it is understood that PSG believe they can sign the former Juventus man for around £43m, less than half the £89m figure United paid back in 2016.

Despite having just one year left on his £290,000-a-week contract, Pogba has given United no indications that he is interested in committing his future at Old Trafford. This could see the club cut their losses.

Lingard, meanwhile, also faces an uncertain future. He spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and impressed, having scored nine goals in 16 appearances, and looks to be in United's short-term plans.

The playmaker is another that would command a reasonable sum, so allowing United to try and land more signings. Lingard is also in the final year of his deal, and is valued at around £30m with multiple clubs keen to swoop.

Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier is a target for United, but the club must sell to buy

Saul Niguez, also of Atletico, has been identified as a potential replacement for Pogba

Sportsmail revealed that Saul Niguez, a team-mate of Trippier's at Atletico, is a potential replacement for Pogba. Atletico are keen to axe him from their wage bill, and may accept an offer of just £45m.

Currently, Trippier wants a return to the Premier League, but a move to United may be scuppered by Atletico's asking price. Their demand for £43m would certainly stretch United's transfer budget to the limit.

But for now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's two primary targets in Sancho and Varane have been secured, and this comes in the wake of the effect the pandemic has taken on United's coffers. That is believed to have cost them more than £150m.

The Telegraph have also highlighted the situation with United's wage to turnover ratio. That number stood at 56 per cent for the 2019-20 season, and may even go beyond the 60 per cent mark for last season.

It is said that United are unlikely to be comfortable with this, and their aim will be to balance their costs to ensure a healthy financial outlook. The departures of several first-team players would go towards aiding this.

The club have laid down a statement of intent for the new campaign as they look to bridge the gap between them and Manchester City, who had won the Premier League by 12 points at a canter last term.

United finished in second spot behind them and also ended the season on a disappointing note, having lost the Europa League final against Villarreal after a nail-biting penalty shootout in Gdansk.

PSG 'open talks with Paul Pogba’s entourage to gauge whether they can sign France midfielder' as Manchester United brace themselves for £43m bid from French giants

* Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly held talks with Paul Pogba’s representatives
* The 28-year-old midfielder has 12 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford
* Manchester United are readying a £43m bid from the French giants for Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly held talks with Paul Pogba’s representatives over a potential move this summer.

The 28-year-old midfielder has 12 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford and talks over an extension have stalled.

The Athletic claims Pogba’s entourage have held talks with the French side to discuss whether a move would be viable this summer.

PSG has already made five signings this summer in the form of Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum and Danilo Pereira.

And Manchester United are readying a £43million bid for Pogba.

The Red Devils run the risk of losing Pogba, who cost them a world record £89m back in 2016, for nothing next summer when his contract expires.

Paul Pogba has only a year left on his current deal and is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Pogba to follow his lead and commit his future to the club

Pogba shone at Euro 2020 for France and is currently on a family holiday in Florida before returning to United for pre-season training.

Asked about the situation last month, he said: 'I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that. There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I'm still in Manchester.'

The Mirror also reported earlier this week that Pogba has turned down a long-term £50m contract offer from United.

United signed Donny van de Beek as cover in a £40m deal from Ajax last summer in case Pogba left, and possible replacements for the Frenchman this summer include West Ham star Declan Rice, Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez or Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Borussia Dortmund 'are considering Anthony Martial as replacement for Erling Haaland but think misfiring Man United forward is too expensive'... with the Bundesliga giants using THIRTY scouts to find their new striker

* Borussia Dortmund are trying to find a replacement for striker Erling Haaland
* Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been considered as an option
* But United want between £42m and £47m for the out of favour French forward
* Dortmund have 30 scouts looking for a replacement for the in-demand Haaland

Anthony Martial is reportedly among the list of Borussia Dortmund targets to replace Erling Haaland if he is to leave the German club this summer - but the Manchester United striker is deemed too expensive at present.

Haaland has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the last two transfer windows with United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all interested in the goalscoring sensation.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also know to be admirers, while Bayern Munich have been rumoured to want Haaland as the long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Haaland has a release clause believed to be between £64million and £86m in his Dortmund contract that will become active next summer. Reports last week even suggested Haaland will be available for as little as £77m.

The 21-year-old has scored a remarkable 68 goals in 67 appearances for Dortmund since joining in January 2020. That follows 29 goals in 27 games for former club Red Bull Salzburg.

His record has led to Europe's top clubs battling for his signature and Dortmund have already reportedly started to weigh up new strikers to replace him with no less than 30 scouts on the hunt.

One of them, according to German outlet SPORT1, is Manchester United's Martial, who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford after injury problems and the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Anthony Martial is reportedly among a list of Dortmund targets to replace Erling Haaland. Martial finds himself as United's third-choice striker and has barely played so far this season. Haaland has scored a remarkable 68 goals in 67 appearances for Dortmund since joining

Martial finds himself as United's third-choice striker with Edinson Cavani also ahead of him, while Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho are preferred out wide.

Even Paul Pogba is now being used in the left-sided position by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Martial has played just 190 minutes in six appearances for United so far this season.

Dortmund's scouting staff have been told to look for players between the ages of 19 and 24 who they can sign for a smaller fee, like Haaland.

But Martial is 25 and would command a substantial fee, given United paid Monaco £36m to make him the world's most expensive teenage footballer back in 2015.

But he is considered to be a 'like for like' replacement for Haaland and it is claimed United would be willing to sell for a fee between £42m and £47m.

At present that fee plus his wages - Martial earns around £200,000 a week - is considered too much for Dortmund, who were interested in signing Martial three years ago.

The German giants are said to be planning initial talks with options this winter as they prepare for Haaland's departure. They signed Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven this summer for £26m.

Other names linked with filling Haaland's space at Dortmund are Nice duo Kasper Dolberg and Amine Gouiri. PSV's Noni Madueke has also been linked but the winger would not be a direct replacement for Haaland.

Lautaro Martinez has been put forward as an option but the Inter Milan star is also deemed to be too expensive for Dortmund.

Despite the expectation that Haaland will leave, Dortmund's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says the club will not feel any financial pressure to sell their prized asset.

It had been reported that Dortmund will feel compelled to sell Haaland, who has scored 11 goals in eight matches so far this season, because they are listed on the stock exchange and will need to pay investors.

But Watzke told Sport1: 'It has not yet been decided whether he will really leave in the summer. We'll just have a look.

'I heard someone say: "They have to sell Haaland because they are listed on the stock exchange." This is all bulls***.

'The decision whether someone is sold at our company is made by the management and only by the management.'

Everton chief Marcel Brands refuses to rule out January move for Donny van de Beek as he says 'it is a pity' the Dutchman is barely getting a kick at Manchester United

* Everton are interested in making another attempt to sign Donny van de Beek
* Director of football Marcel Brands said they tried to get him on loan last summer
* The Dutchman has played only five minutes of Premier League football this term
* 'Such a boy wants to play and return to the Dutch national team,' Brands said

Everton have revealed they tried to sign Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United in the summer and are potentially interested in making another attempt to bring the out-of-favour midfielder to Goodison Park in January.

Van de Beek had a hugely disappointing first season at United following his £35.5million move from Ajax in 2020 and his stock with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has fallen even further this season, with the Dutchman playing only five minutes of Premier League football so far.

Everton director of football Marcel Brands has admitted his club made an approach for Van de Beek in the summer.

'We had him on our list,' Brands told Dutch broadcaster NOS. 'At the beginning of the transfer window, we made an enquiry to United, then it was impossible.

Everton tried to sign out-of-favour midfielder Donny van de Beek over the summer. Director of football Marcel Brands revealed Everton wanted to sign the Dutchman on loan

'At the end of the window, I received a call from Guido Albers, his agent, that he might be loaned out after all. But at the last minute it was cancelled. Stopped again.'

Asked if Everton could make another move for Van de Beek in January, Brands added: 'You always depend on whether a club wants to cooperate. And it is early October, so much can still happen with injuries. United are playing on various fronts, it's hard to say now.'

Van de Beek's only start in any competition this season came in the 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham in the Carabao Cup while his difficult period at United hit a new low when he failed to get on the pitch in last week's Champions League game at home to Villarreal, with Fred and Nemanja Matic coming on instead.

The Dutchman could not hide his frustration and threw a piece of chewing gum in frustration towards Solskjaer while his team-mates tried to comfort him.

He was also an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Everton.

For former Dutch footballer Brands, Van de Beek's situation is tough to take, especially as the midfielder has lost his place in the national side and was left out of the team's upcoming World Cup qualifiers by Louis van Gaal.

'It is of course a pity for Donny. He is a very good player, no doubt about it,' added Brands

'Such a boy wants to play and wants to return to the Dutch national team. But you know that at such a club the pressure is great and the competition is huge.

'When you see what United had sitting on the bench [against Everton at the weekend]: Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Paul Pogba…'

Default Re: [2021-2022] Manchester United ~ Transfer Rumors

Newcastle are 'plotting a transfer raid for FOUR Manchester United players, with Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly all targets' following £305m Saudi takeover

* Newcastle are interested in signing four Manchester United players in January
* They want Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly
* The Magpies will have the funds following their £305million Saudi takeover
* Saudi's Public Investment Fund is led by Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman and the takeover makes Newcastle United one of the world's richest football clubs

Newcastle United are looking to raid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad during the January transfer window.

The Magpies are expected to part ways with a significant amount of cash this winter after they were bought by a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium for £305million.

It is believed the club have identified four Manchester United players to sign after they struggled to cement a regular place in the Red Devils' starting XI.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are plotting potential moves for Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly.

Van de Beek's Manchester United's experience has been far from what he expected - having managed just five minutes of Premier League game time.

Therefore, the 24-year-old – who was keen on a loan move to Everton – could snap up the opportunity to join Newcastle.

Lingard is another play that could be interested in leaving Old Trafford during the winter transfer window.

Lingard's peak performances for United in the 2017-18 campaign. He scored 13 goals and played a pivotal role in England's run to the World Cup semi-final in Russia.

Lingard could be open to a move after failing to cement a regular place in the squad at United

However, he then experienced two mediocre seasons and was subsequently sent on loan to West Ham. During his time there he scored nine goals and registered five assists in just 16 matches.

Having helped the Hammers qualify for Europe, Lingard was open to rejoining West Ham on a permanent deal during the summer transfer window.

However, he was assured by Solskjaer that he was part of his first-team plans and decided to stay at Old Trafford. Since then he has struggled to feature.

Martial is another player that could walk out the door this winter. The 25-year-old struggled to make an impact last season after falling out of form, scoring just seven goals in 36 games, and has largely featured off the bench this term.

As a result, he has been given the green light to search for a new club. However, should Newcastle go ahead with a move for the forward, they will have to part ways with £40m due to United's hefty price tag.

Meanwhile, Bailly - who was Jose Mourinho's first signing at Old Trafford for £30million in 2016 arriving from Villarreal - has also fallen down the pecking order under the current manager.

Harry Maguire is United's captain and Victor Lindelof had historically been preferred as his partner, leaving Bailly short of opportunities. The arrival of Raphael Varane this summer has also pushed him further out of the picture.
