Erik ten Hag confirms Marcus Rashford has a 'muscle injury' after the England hopeful was left out of Man United's Europa League squad for trip to Sheriff Tiraspol... but backs the 24-year-old to make Gareth Southgate's World Cup side regardless

* Manchester United are set to face Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday
* The upcoming fixture is due to be Manchester United's final game until October
* Marcus Rashford will not feature due to a muscle injury sustained after Arsenal
* The striker, 24, could be a doubt for England with squad announced tomorrow
* England play Germany and Italy in final Nations League games later this month

Marcus Rashford's possible England recall is in doubt after Erik ten Hag confirmed that the 24-year-old had sustained a 'muscle injury' following Manchester United's triumph over Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has started the campaign in promising fashion for United and was expected to be named in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for the forthcoming Nations League games against Italy and Germany.

However, Rashford - who did not travel with the Manchester United squad for their Europa League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday - has been sidelined with injury.

Ten Hag confirmed Rashford's injury status during United press conference on Wednesday evening. He said the 24-year-old picked up the issue following the club's victory over Arsenal.

However, he played down the severity of the injury - claiming it's 'not bad'. Ten Hag also backed Rashford to secure a place in England's World Cup squad despite the set back.

Nevertheless, Rashford will miss out on United's upcoming Europa League game. He will stay at home alongside Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

None of the quartet trained at Carrington on Wednesday morning ahead of the flight to Moldova.

Erik ten Hag is otherwise taking a full strength squad, with Cristiano Ronaldo among the travelling party and Luke Shaw returning after injury.

United are looking for their first points of their Group E campaign, having lost to Real Sociedad last week.

Ten Hag will face the media on Wednesday tea-time to preview the fixture and give further updates on Rashford's condition.

Marcus Rashford hands boost to Erik ten Hag and Manchester United... with the England forward 'hopeful' of being fit for the crucial derby against Man City

* Erik ten Hag and Manchester United boosted by Marcus Rashford fitness
* The forward could be fit for the Manchester derby after the international break
* Rashford picked up a muscular injury during the Red Devils win over Arsenal

Manchester United Marcus Rashford has given Erik ten Hag a boost ahead of the Manchester derby, as the club are 'hopeful' that he will be fit for the important Premier League fixture.

The Red Devils have been out of action since their Europa League win over Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol, with their two Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace and Leeds being postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

This means that the team will not have played a game for almost a month ahead of the Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola's City side on October 2.

Rashford has been absent for the team in their last two games after he picked up a muscular injury during the win over Arsenal. The injury meant that Gareth Southgate left the 24-year-old out of the England team for the Nations League games against Italy and Germany.

However, the attacker's injury is not believed to be serious by the Manchester United medical team, and he will be available for the match against City, according to ESPN.

Before his injury, Rashford has started to show glimpses that he was getting back to his best form that had led him to be considered one of England's brightest prospects.

Marcus Rashford could be fit for Manchester United's return to action against Man City. Rashford was forced off with a muscular injury during Manchester United's win over Arsenal. Gareth Southgate has said that Marcus Rashford could make the World Cup squad

The forward has scored three goals and provided two assists in his six Premier League games so far this season.

Speaking about Rashford's injury, Ten Hag said: 'He's not available, a consequence after Arsenal. He has a muscle injury.

'I don't think too long, but I don't know. It's not really bad, we expect him quite soon to be back in the team.'

Despite missing out on the England squad for the last time before the World Cup, Southgate has admitted that he still has a chance to be picked for the World Cup in Qatar.

He said: 'Although our results were disappointing in the summer, we have picked on the basis of form and capability over a long period.

'There were certain players we wanted to keep involved this time, but that said it doesn't mean that this is the end for some of the others who aren't involved.

'Marcus Rashford, for example, has shown some encouraging signs recently. He is a player we know well so if he can perform at a high level in the next few weeks, he of course will be under consideration.'

Marcus Rashford 'set to be passed FIT for this weekend's Manchester derby' after missing out on an England return through injury picked up after brace against Arsenal

* Marcus Rashford is reportedly set to be fit for this weekend's Manchester derby
* The forward has missed Man United's last two games with a hamstring issue
* He claimed the injury ruled him out of England's recent Nations League games
* He has trained this week and is in line to return to action at the Etihad on Sunday

Marcus Rashford is set to be fit for the Manchester derby, according to a report.

The forward hasn't played since limping off during Manchester United's 3-1 win over Arsenal at the start of September, citing the injury as the reason for his England omission.

But, according to The Sun, he is winning the race against time to be fit for his side's crunch tie against Manchester City on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford is set to be fit for the Manchester debut this weekend, according to a report. The forward was substituted with a hamstring injury against Arsenal earlier this month

Rashford has missed two games - both in the Europa League - with the hamstring issue.

He picked up the injury after scoring two goals against Arsenal at Old Trafford as he looks to regain form under Erik ten Hag.

He tweeted on September 15, after being left out the England squad for Nations League games against Italy and Germany: 'In regards to England every player wants to represent there country and I’m no different! Unfortunately I’m not ready yet as I’ve picked up an untimely injury.'

It's unclear if Rashford would have been named in the squad if he was fit.

Rashford took to Twitter to say why he wouldn't be with England in the international break. Rashford has put in a string of impressive performances for Manchester United recently

He has been nominated for the Premier League's September 'Player of the Month' award after a string of impressive performances.

The 24-year-old has been playing more centrally in recent times, keeping Cristiano Ronaldo out the starting XI at United and hitting form after a number of years spent out wide.

He has been in training again ahead of the derby, and is expected to feature at the Etihad.

Harry Maguire is set to MISS OUT on Sunday's Manchester derby through injury... though the English defender has already been dropped to the bench by new boss Erik ten Hag despite keeping him on as captain

* Harry Maguire is unlikely to feature against Manchester City after an injury
* The Manchester United picked up a muscle issue playing for England on Monday
* It was already improbable he would start in the derby after dropping out the side

Harry Maguire is set to step back into the shadows at Manchester United after a painful week in the spotlight playing for England.

Maguire returned to United on Wednesday for treatment on a muscle injury that has cast doubt over his availability for Sunday’s Manchester derby at the Etihad.

Even if the United skipper is declared fit to face Manchester City, the best he could hope for is a seat on the bench after losing his place under manager Erik ten Hag.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are now firmly established as Ten Hag’s first-choice partnership in central defence.

Maguire’s form is under intense scrutiny after a difficult start to the season which hit a new low on Monday night when he was blamed for two of the three goals England conceded in a Nations League draw with Germany and also suffered the injury at Wembley.

England boss Gareth Southgate continues to back the 29-year-old but admits he needs to play more for his club ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Although Maguire insisted after the 1-0 defeat by Italy in Milan last week that he isn’t worried about ‘rustiness’, there are concerns that a lack of game time for United has affected his form.

Harry Maguire has picked up a muscular injury whilst playing in England's 3-3 draw on Monday. The Manchester United club captain has already lost his place in the starting line-up. He has started five games in all competitions, losing four and drawing one for club and country

One consolation for Maguire is that United play nine games next month — their busiest October ever — so he is likely to have opportunities before Southgate names his World Cup squad in November.

Maguire kept the captain’s armband when Ten Hag took over but was dropped following back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford at the start of the season.

United have won five of their six games since, with Maguire’s only start coming in a loss to Real Sociedad in Europe.

Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United's Europa League tie with Omonia Nicosia after his first start of the season at Everton was cut short with another 'disappointing' back injury

* Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United's Europa League tie on Thursday
* The Frenchman's first start of the season at Everton on Sunday was cut short
* It is Martial's third injury since boss Erik ten Hag took over at United this summer

Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United’s Europa League tie with Omonia Nicosia on Thursday night as he battles to be fit for this weekend’s clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Martial’s first start of the season at Everton on Sunday was cut short after less than half an hour when he went off with a back strain – his third injury since Erik ten Hag took over in the summer.

Ten Hag confirmed that the Frenchman will miss the Group E game against Omonia at Old Trafford, along with Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan Bissaka, but could be in contention against Newcastle on Sunday.

‘Not (training) today, we will see how he develops to Sunday,’ said the United boss. ‘Harry Maguire is out. Longer-term, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

‘I've had several talks with him (Martial) and I’m really disappointed for him. All the minutes he has played well, even on Sunday the assist for Antony.

‘The pressing was good, he was an important factor and played well. But obviously, he fell out and it's disappointing for him and disappointing for the team as well.

Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United’s European tie with Omonia Nicosia. Martial’s first start of the season at Everton on Sunday was cut short after less than half hour. United boss Erik ten Hag also confirmed Harry Maguire and a few others will miss the clash

‘Of course, I want every player to be available. Sometimes it's disappointing when they're not available, especially with all the games coming up. When they're not available you have to deal with the situation and I focus on the players available.’

Ten Hag called on his team to follow up their win in Cyprus last week with another victory over Omonia to try and finish first in the group ahead of Real Sociedad and avoid having to play two more games in the knockout round of 32.

He added: ‘I told the players weeks ago before the break that it’s important to get No.1 in this group.

'That will be our aim, in all of the games, but it's clear we want to avoid that. If you want to win you have to win them all.

‘We will go all out for the victory. The next game is always the most important. It's Europe, it's tough, we want to be No.1 in the group, so we have to win the game.’

Anthony Martial is hoping to be fit for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Newcastle as he nears recovery from a back strain... but Harry Maguire will miss out again at Old Trafford

* Anthony Martial was forced off in his first start of the season last weekend
* The Frenchman has suffered three separate injuries since Erik ten Hag took over
* He is in with a chance of featuring against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday

Anthony Martial is battling to be fit for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Harry Maguire will once again miss out.

Martial is recovering from the back strain he suffered at Everton last weekend, less than half an hour into his first start of the season.

The Frenchman has now suffered three separate injuries since Ten Hag took over in the summer and has yet to complete a full 90 minutes for United in more than a year.

Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to lead the attack again if Martial is ruled out, having come on to score the 700th club goal of his career at Goodison Park.

Anthony Martial (L) is battling to be fit for Man United’s Premier League clash with Newcastle. Martial is recovering from the back strain that he suffered at Everton last weekend

Maguire will definitely not be available against Newcastle, but Ten Hag expects his captain to return to training in the next week or so having missed the last four games.

‘Anthony Martial can be (available) but we have to wait to see how he develops in the coming hours,’ said Ten Hag.

‘Harry Maguire will not make this game, but it doesn't take long I think. I think next week he'll be back in team training or over after next week.’

Ten Hag expects a tough test against Newcastle who sit one point behind United in sixth place in the Premier League table having played a game more.

‘They do really well,’ added the United boss. ‘I think it's a team who can play in high intensity with a lot of energy and that makes it a tough opponent. We know we have to play our best to get the right result.’

Erik ten Hag rules Anthony Martial out of Man United clash with Tottenham as Frenchman continues to recover from back injury - while Harry Maguire is still sidelined - but Christian Eriksen could line up against his former club after returning to training

* Manchester United are set to welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Wednesday
* Erik ten Hag has a number of injury concerns on his hands heading into the game
* Anthony Martial is still unavailable as he steps up his recovery from a back injury
* Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also remain absent
* But Christian Eriksen could be ready again after returning to training this week

Anthony Martial will again be absent when Manchester United welcome Tottenham on Wednesday but Christian Eriksen might return against his former club.

The France forward has missed two games after suffering a back complaint in the first half of the 2-1 win at Everton.

Eriksen joined him on the sidelines for Sunday's 0-0 draw against Newcastle with illness and will be assessed ahead of hosting Spurs.

Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain absent but are making progress.

United boss Erik Ten Hag said on Tuesday: 'Anthony Martial is not available. He's back on the pitch but not in the team training.

'Christian Eriksen returned in the team training today and we have to see how that works out, how he will recover, if he has tomorrow the energy so we have to wait for that.

Anthony Martial has been ruled out of Man United's clash with Tottenham through injury. Harry Maguire also remains absent for United as he continues to recover from a fitness issue. But Christian Eriksen could return to face his old club after resuming training this week

'They are making good progress all (of them). They will all return in team training this week.'

Long-term absentees Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are also out.

'I see good progress with Brandon Williams' the Dutchman said. 'He returned on the pitch, individual base.

'Axel is still working inside, so he is not back on the pitch. I think it will be difficult for Axel to return before Christmas.

'Brandon (is) probably not in the squad for the games but probably team training (before then).

Raphael Varane has NOT been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury during Man United's draw at Chelsea... but distraught France star still faces race against time to play a part for Didier Deschamps' side in Qatar

* Raphael Varane's hamstring injury may not rule him out of World Cup in Qatar
* The Frenchman was substituted in Man United's draw to Chelsea on Saturday
* Varane was in tears leaving the pitch, raising concerns for Didier Deschamps
* Scans show that the injury is less serious and there is hope he can head to Qatar

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is awaiting final diagnosis on a hamstring injury threatening his World Cup but early indications are that the problem isn't bad as first feared.

Varane suffered the injury during the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The France international was visibly distraught as he limped off the field amid fears his hopes of playing in next month's World Cup were over.

United and Varane are awaiting definitive news on the extent of the injury, but initial tests have shown that the problem is not as bad as originally feared.

Raphael Varane has suffered a hamstring injury which puts World Cup spot in doubt. Varane was substituted during Manchester United's 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Saturday evening

If the early indications are verified by follow-up examinations, Varane may still have a chance of being fit for the World Cup, though it is clear he is in a race against time to prove his fitness.

With just over three weeks until France face Australia in their opening group game, there looks little prospect of Varane featuring for United before the tournament starts.

However, France boss Didier Deschamps could yet decide to include Varane in his final 26-man squad even if he doesn't play before Qatar.

The news will a boost for France boss Didier Deschamps ahead of the World Cup. The centre back has played in all but two of United's Premier League fixtures this season

Deschamps has already been hampered with injuries ahead of the tournament, with star midfielder N'Golo Kante perhaps being the biggest omission, having undergone surgery on his hamstring last week.

Several other players are also doubts for Les Blues, including Boubacar Kamara, Paul Pogba, Lucas Digne and Lucas Hernandez.

The omission of Varane would be a huge blow for Deschamps, despite having a high-quality stock of centre backs in the form of William Saliba, Jules Kounde and Dayot Upamecano, who could step up in Varane's absence.

But it is a promising update for Varane, who looked to be distraught as he left the field on Saturday.

The Frenchman has also been an important cog in Erik ten Hag's backline, appearing in all but two of United's Premier League fixtures this season, helping them amass four clean sheets in 10 matches.

Get well soon Varane.
Semoga masih bisa ikut Piala Dunia sih, kasihan kalo ditinggal.
Banyak pemain mendambakan bisa main di Piala Dunia.

Default Re: United Injury News 2022/23

Injured Raphael Varane will NOT play for Man United before the World Cup begins, reveals Erik ten Hag in a major blow to the Red Devils... with France star facing a race against time to be fit for Qatar

* Raphael Varane has been ruled out with an injury until the 2022 Qatar World Cup
* Erik ten Hag confirmed the Frenchman will miss the next six of United's fixtures
* The defender suffered an injury during the Red Devils 1-1 draw against Chelsea
* Boss ten Hag has also opened the door for Harry Maguire to return to the line-up

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that defender Raphael Varane will be ruled out until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Varane suffered the injury during the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old lunged out with his right foot away from his body to try to stretch towards the ball and cut off the attack as Blues striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang raced forward.

However his attempts to stifle the threat left him in a heap in visible pain after the impact of planting his foot in the ground seemed to jar his knee.

The France international was visibly distraught as he limped off the field amid fears his hopes of playing in next month's World Cup were over.

United boss ten Hag has since confirmed that Varane, who has struck up a solid partnership in defence with Lisandro Martinez, will miss the next six matches in the lead up to the World Cup with a hamstring injury.

'Raphael Varane isn't in the squad,' Ten Hag told reporters. 'He will be out, certainly until the World Cup so he will not play in this block [of games] for Man United.'

There is even fears around whether or not the defender will be fit in time to help Didier Deschamps' France squad defend their title in Qatar.

The Dutchman was unable to confirm if Varane could be ruled out of the major tournament at this stage.

'I think so, but the prognosis we have to wait. We have to see how it develops, how the rehab will develop.'

Varane's injury also means a potential opportunity for United captain Harry Maguire to return to the starting line-up after not featuring for over a month.

The England international has been ruled out in recent weeks due to a thigh problem that he picked up during the last international break.

The 29-year-old has now returned to first-team training and it could be perfect timing with ten Hag needing to fill the void left by the injured Varane in the coming weeks.

Ten Hag added: 'Maguire will always play an important role. He was injured, he's on his way back. Now he has to get back into games.'

Maguire and Victor Lindelof will now be competing to play alongside Martinez in the build-up to the World Cup.
