'We're still addressing that with the experts': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says no decision has been made over whether or not Marcus Rashford will undergo surgery on shoulder injury

* United star had been hampered by the problem towards the end of last season
* Rashford played on through the pain barrier at the European Championship
* He underwent a scan on Tuesday which was reported to show a severe injury

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Marcus Rashford may still not have surgery on the shoulder injury which is threatening to rule him out of the start of the season.

The 23-year-old had been hampered by the problem towards the end of the season with the Red Devils but played on through the pain barrier for England at the European Championship.

Rashford had a scan on Tuesday and reports claimed it showed the damage was so severe that he must have an operation.

However, Solskjaer says a decision has not yet been made.

'We're looking at the best option, he went away just to reflect on it a little bit and we have to take the best course of action for him and the club,' said the Norwegian after United's 2-1 friendly win over Derby.

'We're still addressing that with the experts.'

Solskjaer also spoke out about the racist abuse Rashford and England teammates received after missing their penalties in the Euros final loss to Italy.

'It's very disappointing and sad,' he said.

Marcus Rashford is currently deciding whether or not to have shoulder surgery. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the club are yet to decide whether or not the forward will do so. The 23-year-old had been hampered by the shoulder problem for the past few months

'They play football, they do the best for the club, do the best for their family, do their best for their country and are brave enough to step up and take penalties, that's a win in itself.'

Rashford scored 11 goals in 37 Premier League appearances last season but struggled to make a major impact for England at Euro 2020.

He made five appearances in the tournament but then missed a penalty in the shootout as Italy beat England in a shootout.

SOLSKJAER CONFIRMS AN INJURY FOR TELLES

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Saturday afternoon that Manchester United defender Alex Telles has picked up an ankle injury that has forced him to return home.

The Brazilian left-back featured in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Derby County and trained with the squad throughout this week’s camp in Surrey.

However, when our matchday squad to face Queens Park Rangers was announced at 13:00 BST today, Telles was a noticeable absentee.

In our pre-match interview at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, Solskjaer revealed all about Alex.

“Unfortunately, Alex slipped and he twisted his ankle so he’ll be out for a few weeks. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be too bad but he’ll be out for a little while.”

Based on Ole's update, it appears Telles will miss next week's friendlies against Brentford at Old Trafford on Wednesday and Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.

Our final pre-season fixture is against Everton at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday 7 August.

With Telles watching from home, our youthful United team went on to contest a 4-2 defeat against a much more experienced and physically robust QPR side.

Jesse Lingard opened the scoring with a simple finish in the third minute that will boost his confidence, before substitute Anthony Elanga executed a superb finish in the second half.

Marcus Rashford D-Day: The England forward is set for talks with Manchester United regarding whether to proceed with shoulder surgery that would keep him out until OCTOBER

* Rashford is in favour of having the operation after struggling since November
* United were hoping a three-week break after Euro 2020 would ease the issue
* The England star is set to meet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Carrington on Tuesday

Marcus Rashford will hold talks with Manchester United on Tuesday before deciding whether to go ahead with shoulder surgery that will keep him out of action for up to three months.

Rashford is strongly in favour of having the operation after struggling since November with a muscle tear in his left shoulder.

United were hoping a three-week break after Euro 2020 would ease the problem and the England striker might avoid surgery that would rule him out until October.

But it is understood Rashford has returned from a holiday with United's new £73million signing Jadon Sancho and friends in the Turks and Caicos Islands feeling that an operation is still the best course of action.

The 23-year-old is not due to report for pre-season training until Sunday but will meet with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Carrington on Tuesday afternoon to make a final decision.

Speaking about the situation earlier this month, Solskjaer said: 'We're looking at the best options. He went away just to reflect on it a bit. We have to take the best course of action for him and the club. We're still addressing that with the experts.'

Rashford had a scan on the shoulder in Liverpool a fortnight ago which revealed that the muscle tear is unlikely to get any worse.

Marcus Rashford is set for crunch talks with Manchester United over having shoulder surgery. The England star is set to meet boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Carrington on Tuesday

However, he wants the problem cured once and for all after requiring painkilling injections to play last season.

He is determined to recover peak fitness for United and also for England ahead of next year's World Cup, having spent only 84 minutes on the pitch as Gareth Southgate's side reached the final of Euro 2020.

If he goes ahead with surgery, Rashford could miss England's next five World Cup qualifiers as well as United's first 11 games of the new season.

Meanwhile, United have a agreed a fee of £34m plus add-ons to sign centre back Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

The France international, 28, agreed personal terms over the weekend and is expected to complete his move in the next few days after a decade at Real.

United are also interested in Atletico Madrid duo Saul Niguez and Kieran Trippier. It is understood United want Niguez as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, who is in the final year of his contract and is a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

Atletico are keen to get Niguez off their wage bill and could accept an offer of £45m for the 26-year-old.

Trippier wants to return to the Premier League but Atletico would have to reduce their £34m asking price as United's transfer budget would be stretched to the limit.

sudah ada Sancho, trus ditambah ada James & Pellistri, mending Rashford operasi saja biar kedepannya cedera gak tambah parah nanti malah efeknya lebih merugikan United.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms left back Alex Telles will be out until September after sustaining ankle injury during pre-season training camp

* Alex Telles will miss the start of 2021-22 Premier League season through injury
* The left back picked up an ankle knock during pre-season training last week
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer initially said Telles would be 'out for a few weeks'
* But he now won't return until September, according to United boss Solskjaer

Manchester United left back Alex Telles will miss the start of the Premier League season due to an ankle injury, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

The Brazilian sustained the problem during the club's training camp in Surrey last week and returned home from his duties, missing Saturday's friendly defeat against QPR.

Solskjaer initially said Telles would be 'out for a few weeks' but the United manager has since given a disappointing update, revealing he is now set to miss the first three games of the Premier League season in August.

Solskjaer told United's official website: 'Unfortunately, it's worse news on Alex Telles than we hoped for.

'His ankle injury is a little bit more severe than we hoped and he'll be out for a little spell at least, the whole of August I would think.'

As well as missing this week's friendlies against Brentford and Preston, before another warm-up match against Everton, Telles will sit out United's Premier League opener against Leeds on August 14, their visit to Southampton eight days later, and their trip to Wolves at the end of the month.

Telles' injury has given United a problem in the left back department with Luke Shaw not yet back in training after his exploits with England at Euro 2020.

Man United left back Alex Telles has been ruled out until September with an ankle injury. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a problem at left back during pre-season following Telles' injury

Telles joined United just last summer in a £15.4million deal from Portuguese outfit Porto.

It was widely expected that he may usurp Shaw at left back but the England star emphatically proved his doubters wrong and has turned into one of United's key players in recent time - keeping Telles out of the side.

After enduring limited game-time, Telles has been linked with a move away this summer, with the likes of Inter Milan and Roma interested in his services.

Marcus Rashford has successfully undergone surgery on a long-standing surgery injury ahead of the new Premier League season.

Adding a supplementary caption, Rashford wrote: 'Thank you for all the well wishes. I had my surgery on Friday morning and everything went very well.

Marcus Rashford could reportedly make a training comeback at Manchester United by the end of the month, weeks before his expected return date, after his surgery.

Forward Rashford went under the knife two weeks ago to correct an issue with his shoulder, and his impressive recovery has led United to be hopeful of a return soon.

The Sun claim that the 23-year-old may undergo light training inside the next 10 days, with Rashford already working on his build his strength back up.

United are said to be 'delighted' with how Rashford has bounced back from the procedure, although their academy graduate is continuing to use a brace.

He gritted his teeth to play through the agony during England's Euro 2020 campaign, having initially sustained a muscle tear back in November.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Marcus Rashford is 'very happy' with his shoulder surgery and reveals the Manchester United forward is already 'working in the gym' as part of his recovery ahead of autumn return

* Marcus Rashford is currently recovering from surgery on his left shoulder
* The Manchester United star has been struggling with the issue since November
* It was decided in July he would go under the knife after playing with painkillers
* Rashford is already back doing gym work ahead of his return this autumn

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Marcus Rashford is delighted with his shoulder surgery as he continues his rehabilitation from the injury setback.

It was decided over the summer that the Manchester United forward would undergo the procedure after struggling with the shoulder issue towards during most of last season and during the summer's European Championships with England.

Rashford, 23, tore a muscle in his shoulder last November but only underwent the surgery on August 6 of this year after requiring painkilling injections in order to play during that period.

The forward is optimistic of getting back onto the pitch by October, with Solskjaer claiming he is already doing gym work to stay fit during his rehabilitation.

Speaking about Rashford, Solskjaer told a press conference this week: 'He seemed very happy with the surgery.

'He's working in the gym, we see him every day, so he'll be chomping at the bit when it gets nearer to the time when he can come back.

'Of course, any time you're off with an injury is a hard time but it's also time to reflect and find yourself again. That's what we hope is going to happen to Marcus.'

Manchester United receive a boost as first-team stars Scott McTominay and Alex Telles return to training ahead of this week's clash with Newcastle

Manchester United were handed a sizeable boost as first-team stars Scott McTominay and Alex Telles returned to training.

The duo were pictured at Carrington on Monday ahead of the club's Premier League clash with Newcastle on Saturday.

McTominay, 24, only underwent groin surgery recently but vowed to be back on the grass ahead of schedule and joined team-mates on the training pitch.

Left back Telles, 28, injured his ankle in pre-season and has not featured since, but looks to be back on the road to full recovery.

However, the club said 'it remains to be seen' whether the duo will be fit to face the Magpies at Old Trafford this weekend.

McTominay in particular is a likely starter as one of the central midfield double pivots, and although Telles is currently behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order, he has added much-needed cover and competition for United.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson and back-up defender Teden Mengi featured as they return from injury, with South American duo Fred and Edinson Cavani also present.

The Red Devils hope £73million summer signing Jadon Sancho will return from a minor injury picked up on international duty with England.

Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, is still quarantining after arriving from Portugal but is in contention to make his second debut for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Brazilian left back Telles has had to play second fiddle to Luke Shaw since signing in October 2020, only making playing Premier League matches since then and 24 in total across all competitions.

The 28-year-old picked up an ankle injury in pre-season, so if he features against the Hammers it will be his first appearance on the pitch this campaign.

Promising teenage winger Elanga, meanwhile, impressed on his professional debut last season and was granted a start against Wolves on the final league game, scoring after just 13 minutes.

The Sweden Under-21 international, 19, will now potentially have another crack at the first-team after impressing for the club's youth team, scoring a penalty in a 2-1 win against Brighton.
