Paris - Keputusan Zinedine Zidane meninggalkan Real Madrid disebut-sebut karena ingin melatih tim nasional Prancis. Tapi Zidane membantah anggapan tersebut.

Pelatih berusia 45 tahun itu secara mengejutkan memutuskan berhenti setelah mengantar Madrid menjuarai Liga Champions ketiga berturut-turut. Zidane mengaku ingin beristirahat, namun rumor yang mengaitkan dia dengan Les Bleus terus bergulir.

Padahal skuat Prancis masih ditangani Didier Deschamps. Spekulasi yang beredar menyebut, Deschamps akan hengkang setelah Piala Dunia 2018, tidak peduli bagaimana hasil yang didapatkan Paul Pogba cs.

Faktanya, Deschamps masih terikat kontrak sampai 2020. Presiden FFF (Badan Sepakbola Prancis) Noel Le Gaet, pernah mengatakan bahwa kalaupun mau, Zidane baru bisa melatih Prancis usai kontrak Deschamps berakhir.

"Hal yang penting adalah mendukung timnas Prancis," ungkap Zidane kepada TF1, yang dilansir Omnisport.

"Saya bukannya berhenti karena ingin mengambil alih timnas Prancis. Saya berhenti untuk berlibur," lugas dia.

"Saya ada di belakang tim Prancis. Kami ingin membawa titel (juara dunia) kedua."

Semasa menjadi pemain, Zidane menjadi pemain penting Prancis saat meraih gelar juara dunia pertama pada 1998. Prancis berambisi merebut gelar keduanya yang akan dimulai di babak grup melawan Australia pada Sabtu (16/6/2018) sore WIB.

Zinedine Zidane has told friends that he expects to be offered the Manchester United job if Jose Mourinho is sacked.

Mourinho is facing the biggest test of his time in charge at United after a turbulent summer that has left him at odds with Old Trafford chief Ed Woodward and record signing Paul Pogba.

The 55-year-old now faces a crucial game at home to Tottenham on Monday night as he tries to prevent the current problems at United escalating into a full-blown crisis.

United have publicly backed Mourinho and played down speculation in France that Zidane could replace him.

'Why would we discuss him when there is no job available?' said a senior source earlier this week.

However, it's understood that the Old Trafford hierarchy recognise the need for a contingency plan if Mourinho's position becomes untenable.

Zidane believes he is the leading candidate to take over and has told associates that he would be very interested in managing United.

The 46-year-old is available after leaving Real Madrid in May, just five days after winning a hat-trick of Champions League titles.

He had been linked with the France job but his country's World Cup triumph in Russia this summer ensured that Didier Deschamps will remain in charge for the foreseeable future.

Zidane, whose strong connection to Marseille would also rule out coaching arch-rivals Paris Saint-Germain, is ready to work abroad again and has made the Premier League his first choice.

The decorated World Cup and Champions League winner is the kind of stellar name United would be looking for if Mourinho is axed.

He would also be the ideal figure to convince Pogba and Anthony Martial that their futures lie at Old Trafford after a summer in which the two Frenchmen both expressed a desire to leave.

Mourinho's fate is by no means sealed, however, and there is still more than enough time to turn things around.

A convincing win over a Spurs side coached by Mauricio Pochettino — another manager who has been linked with the United job — on Monday would help ease the pressure building around him.

Defeat, on the other hand, would only add to the growing sense of turmoil as Mourinho's strained relationship with Woodward becomes more apparent by the day.

Sky pundit Gary Neville's outspoken attack on Woodward has focused attention on the club's executive vice-chairman, and news that fans have paid to fly a protest banner calling for his head when United play at Burnley in nine days' time will cause further alarm in the boardroom.

Mourinho's uneasy relationship with Pogba, and several other players including Martial, is also a concern as United try to challenge Manchester City and the emerging threat of Liverpool.

After a summer in which he has complained about the club's tour of the US and a lack of new signings, the limp defeat at Brighton on Sunday has suddenly left him looking vulnerable.

It is understood that Mourinho has no intention whatsoever of walking away from the job, putting the ball firmly in United's court.

Woodward would be reluctant to make a third managerial change in less than four-and-a-half years, but that will become inevitable if the situation continues to deteriorate.

Replacing Jose Mourinho with Zinedine Zidane at Manchester United would be like opening a pair of heavy curtains at Old Trafford. Daylight would pour in.

Few coaches contrast the gloom that seems to hang over Mourinho at the moment more than Zidane. He smiled his way through most of his two-and-a-half years at Real Madrid without so much as a curled-lip snarl, winning nine trophies in the process.

The relationship with the players would be different. He wanted Real to sign Paul Pogba in 2016 and if finally they worked together, the connection would be immediate.

Zidane's training ground presence alone would lift the club. Watching the session that preceded Real travelling to Kiev for the Champions League final against Liverpool last season illustrated that, with the Frenchman pinging crosses to the edge of the six-yard box for Cristiano Ronaldo to volley in.

A good relationship with the players was not limited to the superstars. Zidane defended all of them at Real, in much the same way Mourinho did in his early days at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan.

When the club wanted to sign a goalkeeper last January — Kepa Arrizabalaga, who eventually joined Chelsea this summer — he vetoed it out of loyalty to the players he already had and a sense that the group he started the campaign with should be the one he finished it with.

He trusted his players to score more than the opposition and that philosophy worked in the Champions League at least, although often because of moments of individual brilliance as opposed to choreographed team play finely tuned on the training ground.

United would not be getting their own Pep Guardiola in a coaching sense but it would be a mistake to dismiss Zidane as no more than a grinning genius with all his brains in his boots and no greater football vision.

'You can only call a Champions League winner lucky once,' said former Real player Pedja Mijatovic. Zidane won it three times as well as La Liga in 2017.

If there was a secret to those triumphs it was the communication he had with his most important players, again something Mourinho once had but seems to have lost.

Zidane had been team-mates in his final playing days at Real with Sergio Ramos and their union was unbreakable. He also had a close bond with Raphael Varane, forged when he called him to persuade him to join the club in 2011. He had to ring back when Varane put the phone down because he thought it was a practical joke. United wanted Varane too that summer but Real got their man thanks to Zidane's charisma.

It would be hard work building similar relationships with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, and there is no evidence to suggest he would transform any of them or that he would not end up asking for much the same as Mourinho: a finished article central defender in his first transfer window.

And if he felt that he was not being backed he would not hang around. When he walked away from Real in the summer fatigue was only half the reason.


It is unclear whether Zidane would be able to significantly improve players already at the club. While United is a huge club, it seems the Premier League side would need to sell him the job

He had not liked the plans for the coming campaign with Keylor Navas to be replaced, Ronaldo to be allowed to leave and no move for Eden Hazard because money was being held for the arrival of Neymar in 2019.

United will not be able to woo him solely with a huge contract. He tore up the two years he had left on his £8million-a-season deal when he quit Real, money is not a priority.

Those close to him say he has been in no rush to return since walking away from Madrid. The France job would have appealed had Didier Deschamps not won the World Cup.

United would have to sell the job to him. Come and make us exciting again would be one way of doing that.

Zidane outside the confines of Real – would it work? The only guarantee is that it would not be joyless.

Tampaknya saat ini Zidane memang yang paling cocok melatih United jika seandainya bilamana apabila Mourinho diganti, setelah itu Guardiola hehe..
