Frank de Boer leaves Ajax... days after his agent said he 'would love to join a club like Everton' amid pressure on Roberto Martinez

* Frank de Boer missed out on the Eredivisie title to rivals PSV on Sunday
* The Ajax manager parted ways with the club on Wednesday night
* Everton lost 3-0 to Sunderland in the Premier League on Wednesday too
* De Boer's agent, Guido Albers, says he is keen on a club like Everton
* Some Everton supporters have called for Roberto Martinez to be sacked

Frank de Boer has left Ajax ‒ just days after his agent said he 'would love to join a club like Everton' next.

The 45-year-old missed out on the Eredivisie title to PSV Eindhoven on Sunday and has parted ways with the club, having won Holland's top flight four times since taking over in 2010.

It was confirmed that De Boer will step down on Wednesday night ‒ hours after Everton lost 3-0 to Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League.

De Boer still had a year left on his contract at Ajax but his representative, Guido Albers, this week fuelled speculation that his client could replace Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park.

Albers also named Valencia as another option.

Frank de Boer has left Ajax but he would love to join a club like Everton, according to his agent Guido Albers

'He would love to join a club like Everton or Valencia,' Albers told NOS.

'It's all about the right philosophy and how they play football. That is what Frank is looking for.

'I have told Ajax there is no other club and I have not held discussions with anyone.'

Everton fans have called for Martinez to be sacked and their 3-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light did the manager no favours.

The Toffees were knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage this season, and some supporters stayed behind after their 2-1 win over Bournemouth to protest against Martinez.

Ajax missed out on the Eredivisie title because they drew 1-1 against De Graafschap.

They needed a win to confirm themselves as champions but dropping two points allowed PSV to steal the trophy by beating Zwolle 3-1.

Sepertinya sih De Boer yang gantikan Martinez, semoga saja bisa sesukses karir manajerialnya di Eredivisie

Roberto Martinez sacked: Everton axe under-fire manager after latest dire defeat

* Everton won one Premier League match in 10 as season unravelled
* Defeat at Sunderland on Wednesday ramped up pressure on Martinez
* Spanish boss blamed FA Cup semi-final disappointment for wretched run
* He has been axed before final game of the season against Norwich

Roberto Martinez has been sacked as Everton manager.

Martinez, who had overseen a run of just one win in the last 10 matches, was relieved of his duties to spare him the ordeal of taking charge of the final match of the campaign against Norwich.

The Catalan, who promised Champions League football when appointed in June 2013 after winning the FA Cup with Wigan, lost Everton's supporters and the appetite for a change of manager among the fan base was overwhelming. He reached the point of no return.

Roberto Martinez, alone, downcast, arms tightly-crossed, his default position as Everton's season unravelled

Everton said in a statement on Thursday afternoon: 'Everton Football Club regrets to announce that Roberto Martinez has left his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

'The Chairman and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks for the dedication and commitment Roberto has shown during his three seasons with the club.

'Roberto has been a great ambassador for the club, conducting himself, at all times, with the utmost integrity and dignity.

'He secured the club its highest ever Premier League points total, a place in the last 16 of the Europa League and appearances in both domestic cup semi-finals. He has also played a key role in the development of several young players, managing their progression to the Everton First Team and International honours.'

Quote:
MARTINEZ AT EVERTON

Games 143, Wins 61, Draws 39, Losses 43

Goals scored 227, Goals against 180

Win % - 42.7
The club also cancelled the planned end of season awards following Martinez's sacking and a statement on the Everton website read: 'Following the departure of Roberto Martinez, the Club's End of Season Awards, due to be held at St George's Hall tonight, has been postponed.

'Roberto has shown great commitment and dignity throughout his time at Everton and the Club feels it should reciprocate by rescheduling the event. The Club hopes that those due to attend would agree that the planned celebration would be inappropriate in the circumstances.

'We appreciate that many people will be disappointed but we hope there will also be an understanding of why this decision was taken.

'The Club will invite all who had planned to attend to an event before the start of next season at which players and Club officials will also be in attendance.

'The Club will contact all guests as soon as possible and will provide rearranged details as soon as they become known.'

Frank de Boer is the early favourite to succeed him after leaving Ajax while his fellow Dutchman Ronald Koeman, in charge of Southampton, is also fancied.

De Boer's brother Ronald has backed his sibling to for the vacant position at Everton and told Sky Sports News HQ: 'Frank is interested in the Everton job, but it's not up to him to make the move, that's up to the club. In my eyes he's the right man for that job,' Ronald said.

'He thought he was going to fulfil his ambition of managing in the Premier League but talks with Tottenham collapsed at the last minute.

Everton supporters once more expressed their feelings against Martinez during the defeat by Sunderland

'When you see what Ronald Koeman has done at Southampton I would argue that Frank is at least as good as him when you see what he has achieved at Ajax.

'I think Everton would be a good fit for Frank. It's the sort of club where he'd be given the chance to show his qualities and do something special. He made up his mind to leave Ajax two months ago because he needed a change.'

David Unsworth, the Everton Under 21s manager, will take charge of the side against Norwich.

The weight of public feeling towards Martinez was something new major investor Farhad Moshiri could no longer ignore and the decision has been taken following Wednesday's 3-0 capitulation at Sunderland.

Evertonians at Wembley express their feelings about Martinez following the team's startling downturn in form

Everton's players were on a scheduled day off on Thursday but Martinez, who usually arrives in for work every day at 8am, did not come into Finch Farm, the club's training base, as normal. Following the no-show, the players concluded they had lost their manager.

Their end-of-season awards will be staged at St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre on Thursday evening and fans were expected to congregate on St George's Plateau to protest about Martinez's performance.

This is not a decision that Everton's board will have wanted to take – they have only sacked one manager since the turn of the century – but results, particularly since the turn of the year, have been impossible to ignore.

Following defeat at the hands of the Premier League's 17th-placed side Martinez remained defiant about his future - and claimed the FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United had hit them hard.

Asked if he believed he retained his players' support, the former Wigan boss said: '100 per cent - I know the players gave everything they have.'

'Since the FA Cup semi-final it has been difficult for us to get that belief and intensity in the league and Sunderland were the opposite - a fully focused team who created a good momentum because they were close to finishing the job.

'We were a little bit pedestrian but I thought the effort and intent was there in a very competitive game.

'It was a very tough result for us to take. We kept pushing and creating chances and in the latter stages of the game we hit the post and the bar and we didn't get anything.

'Overall we fought for every ball and we put in a lot of effort, but Sunderland scored the goals.'

The pressure on Martinez appeared to have been alleviated when Romelu Lukaku scored twice in a thrilling FA Cup quarter-final victory over Chelsea at Goodison in March.

Quote:
NEXT EVERTON BOSS - ODDS

1/2 Frank de Boer, 6/1 Mark Hughes, 8/1 Manuel Pellegrini, Ronald Koeman 12/1 David Moyes
But the Toffees' already patchy Premier League form collapsed entirely following that win against Guus Hiddink's men.

Martinez has presided over a miserable run of one win in 10 league outings, while Everton's cup ambitions were derailed by Anthony Martial's last-gasp winning goal at Wembley.

Supporter dissent grew after the Blues' supine display last month in losing 4-0 to Merseyside rivals Liverpool - the second time in Martinez's three-year reign that Everton have been on the end of that particular scoreline at Anfield.

Even before that humiliation across Stanley Park fans had become disenchanted with the boss who led them to a fifth-placed finish in his first season in charge, following his appointment to succeed David Moyes in 2013.

Everton slipped to 11th in Martinez's second term. This campaign has been blighted by a succession of defensive calamities, which have seen the Merseysiders surrender a succession of winning positions.

Bournemouth, Norwich, Stoke, Chelsea and West Ham are among the teams to have taken points from the Toffees, after falling behind to Martinez's team.

But a team widely billed as Goodison Park's finest since the club's heady mid-1980s trophy-winning days has lost its spark entirely in recent weeks.

They were convincingly beaten by new champions Leicester City four days before defeat at the Stadium of Light and Martinez gave little evidence that he is the man to arrest the slump.

Everton target Southampton manager Ronald Koeman to succeed Roberto Martinez in charge at Goodison Park

* Ronald Koeman is the top target after Everton sacked Roberto Martinez
* Southampton manager has enjoyed a fine season on the south coast
* Koeman has 12 months left on his contract with Southampton
* Frank de Boer could be an alternative after he departed Ajax on Thursday

Ronald Koeman is Everton's No 1 choice to be their manager after Roberto Martinez was sacked.

The board decided to end Martinez's three-year reign to spare him a toxic atmosphere at Goodison Park on Sunday for the final game of the season.

David Unsworth, Everton's Under 21 head coach, and club legend Joe Royle will select the team to face Norwich but the search is already on to find a successor.

While Southampton manager Koeman tops the list, Frank de Boer could be an alternative after the former Holland defender quit his post in charge of Ajax also on Thursday.

He is the bookmakers' favourite and has indicated he would jump at the chance to work in the Barclays Premier League. His brother Ronald said: 'In my eyes he's the right man for the job, but it's up to Everton to make their move.'

Ronald Koeman is Everton's No 1 choice to be their manager after Roberto Martinez was sacked

Everton have not made contact with any club or individual but whoever they appoint will be given the biggest transfer budget in the club's history.

Martinez's chequered record in the transfer market counted against his prospects — he spent £13.5million in January on Senegal striker Oumar Niasse, who has shown nothing so far — but the tipping point was his team's poor performance and the loss of the fan base.

Everton postponed the club's end-of-season awards on Thursday night after they made the announcement that Martinez had been axed.

Supporters' groups had planned to protest outside the venue against the 42-year-old.

Martinez, who had three seasons left on a five-year deal, did not report to the club's training base on Thursday morning and that signalled the end was coming.

He is understood to be frustrated with how things have ended and is yet to reach a financial settlement with the club.

This is not a decision Everton's board wanted to take.

They had sacked only one manager — Walter Smith in 2002 — since the turn of the century but results, particularly since New Year, have been impossible to ignore.

Martinez's assistant Graham Jones, along with the rest of his backroom staff, are expected to follow him out of Goodison.

In a statement posted on their website, Everton said: 'The Chairman (Bill Kenwright) and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks for the dedication and commitment Roberto has shown during his three seasons with the Club.

'Roberto has been a great ambassador, conducting himself at all times with the utmost integrity and dignity. He secured the highest Premier League points total, a place in the last 16 of the Europa League and appearances in both domestic cup semi-finals.'

Kasihan, tentunya ini bukan musim yang baik bagi Pardew..

Crystal Palace Pecat Alan Pardew
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detikSport

London - Crystal Palace berpisah dengan Alan Pardew. Pardew dicopot dari jabatannya sebagai manajer Palace setelah serangkaian hasil buruk di Premier League.

Akhir pekan lalu, Palace dibekap Chelsea 0-1.

Sam Allardyce on the brink of replacing Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace after bowling over club's US owners with stats dossier

* Alan Pardew has been sacked by Crystal Palace after nearly two years in charge
* Former England boss Sam Allardyce is the favourite to succeed him
* Allardyce will hold formal talks with chairman Steve Parish over next 24 hours
* His first game in charge could be against Arsenal on New Year's Day

Sam Allardyce has manoeuvred himself to the brink of replacing Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.

Pardew, who will receive around £3million in compensation, was summoned to a meeting at the club’s central London offices on Thursday when his contract was terminated.

And Allardyce, barring an unexpected change of heart, will become the next Palace manager in the coming days.

The former England manager has been on Palace’s radar for over a month as the club’s shareholders pondered Pardew’s position given their poor start to the season.

Indeed, Sportsmail can reveal that Americans Josh Harris and David Blitzer — joint majority shareholders with chairman Steve Parish — were sent a dossier from Allardyce including detailed statistics of the club’s squad and season so far.

Sam Allardyce is on the brink of replacing Alan Pardew as Crystal Palace manager. Allardyce has been out of a job since he was sacked as England manager in September

Allardyce even went as far as to identify January transfer targets if he was in charge.

And over the past 48 hours, Allardyce made clear he was ready to explore other options, understood to be from relegation-threatened Swansea and interest from the Chinese Super League, as he waited for the Palace job to become vacant.

Pardew has paid the price for a miserable run of form that leaves Palace 17th in the table

Allardyce will hold formal talks with Parish over the next 24 hours, but the expectation is that he will be in position by next week.

In an intriguing twist, with Palace unlikely to confirm an appointment before the lunchtime Boxing Day trip to Watford, Allardyce’s first game could be a TV blockbuster against his old rival Arsene Wenger at Arsenal on New Year’s Day at 4pm.

Sportsmail understands there is a degree of trepidation from within the Palace hierarchy about Allardyce’s appointment.

The direct style of play that is synonymous with Allardyce’s teams does not fit the on-the-field vision the club are trying to take.

Likewise, the controversy that has engulfed Allardyce’s career has left certain Palace chiefs fearing the club’s name could be dragged through the mud in the future.

But with Palace staring relegation in the face, the club believe Allardyce is the man to keep them in the Premier League.

Chris Coleman, Roy Hodgson and Roberto Mancini have also been discussed, but Allardyce is the leading candidate.

Ryan Giggs is a contender for Swansea City job after US-based owners sack Bob Bradley following appalling run

* Bob Bradley has been relieved of his duties by Swansea after poor run of form
* Sportsmail revealed on Tuesday morning that his future was in grave doubt
* The American lost seven of the 11 Premier League games he was in charge of
* During West Ham defeat, fans called for the first time for Bradley to be axed
* Swansea parted company with Italian boss Francesco Guidolin on October 3

Ryan Giggs is among the contenders to take over at Swansea after Bob Bradley's disastrous three-month reign was brought to an end on Tuesday night.

The Manchester United legend was considered for the post ahead of Bradley's appointment in October but was snubbed over his lack of experience and an underwhelming interview.

However, he developed a rapport with chairman Huw Jenkins and it is understood to be likely that he will be discussed again in the search for Bradley's replacement.

The club were on Tuesday night plotting a way forward after what was described by sources as a reluctant decision to axe their American manager.

Sportsmail understands the club's US-based owners Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan had telephoned chairman Huw Jenkins in the immediate aftermath of the Boxing Day humiliation against West Ham, desperate to figure out how to salvage such a wretched season.

A further conversation was held between the trio on Tuesday afternoon, with Bradley having taken a recovery session with the players that morning.

By 7pm, Bradley himself was recovering from being the second manager sacked in less than three months by a club once known for stability.

Swansea City are now looking for their third manager this season after sacking Bob Bradley

Ryan Giggs is the bookies' favourite even though he was snubbed for the post in October

Quote:
BRADLEY'S SWANSEA RESULTS

December 2016
Swansea City 1-4 West Ham United - Mon, Dec 26
Middlesbrough 3-0 Swansea City - Sat, Dec 17
West Bromwich Albion 3-1 Swansea City - Wed, Dec 14
Swansea City 3-0 Sunderland - Sat, Dec 10
Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Swansea City - Sat, Dec 3

November 2016
Swansea City 5-4 Crystal Palace - Sat, Nov 26
Everton 1-1 Swansea City - Sat, Nov 19
Swansea City 1-3 Manchester United - Sun, Nov 6

October 2016
Stoke City 3-1 Swansea City - Mon, Oct 31
Swansea City 0-0 Watford - Sat, Oct 22
Arsenal 3-2 Swansea City - Sat, Oct 15

LOST 7, DRAWN 2, WON 2.
SCORED 12 AND CONCEDED 29 GOALS IN 11 GAMES.
Coaches Alan Curtis and Paul Williams will take over as caretakers for Saturday's game against Bournemouth, with the replacement search likely to focus on out-of-work managers, according to a prominent source.

That counts in Giggs, and Harry Redknapp is understood to be open to approaches, while the club could go down a different tack and try to tempt Wales boss Chris Coleman, who was on their shortlist in the summer before the ill-fated decision to renew Francesco Guidolin's contract.

Frank de Boer is also known to have admirers at the club, as does Paul Clement, who was a contender when Bradley was hired.

Whichever way the next move plays out, the call to sack a second manager in the season is a sizeable gamble, given the lack of happy endings in history for clubs who change multiple times in a campaign.

It is also a decision taken reluctantly, according to senior sources at the club, considering the appointment of Bradley in place of Guidolin in October was the first major call undertaken by the new ownership.

But ultimately they felt they had no choice, following an appalling run of results that amounted to eight points in Bradley's 11 games in charge and a defence that shipped 19 goals in the last six.

The Americans and Jenkins searched for signs of improvements, but largely only found testimonies of Bradley, 58, being a good man. Jenkins' statement made the same reference on Tuesday night.

It read: 'We are sorry to lose Bob after such a short period of time. Unfortunately things haven't worked out as planned.

'With the club going through such a tough time, we have to try and find the answers to get ourselves out of trouble.

Club stalwart Alan Curtis will take over as caretaker boss again following Bradley's sacking

'Personally, I have nothing but praise for Bob. He is a good man; a good person who gave everything to the job.'

Being a likeable presence wasn't enough to save the first American to manage a club in Europe's top five leagues. The players had no serious issues with him or his approach, but their lack of response to his methods was damning, particularly in a spell where they faced West Brom, Middlesbrough and West Ham in succession and lost to an aggregate of 10-2.

The supporters turned viciously against Bradley in the last of those games and the board, themselves under huge pressure after an unpopular summer takeover, reacted.

Bradley said on Tuesday night: 'I knew exactly what I was getting into when I came to Swansea and realised the hardest part was always going to be getting points in the short run.

'But I believe in myself and I believe in going for it. Football can be cruel and to have a chance you have to be strong. I wish Swansea the best and look forward to my next challenge.'

The wider issues for the club remain centred on a recruitment system led by Jenkins that has failed miserably in recent seasons, with the added complication that much of the January shortlist was heavily designed by Bradley.

With him gone, they are low on time to find players and a manager capable of transforming such an awful season.
