Default Hazard Hints at Summer Move to London

Eden Hazard hints at Tottenham move from Lille in summer

Lille midfielder Eden Hazard has told Belgian television he could join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Hazard, 21, is one of Europe's most sought-after talents and is reported to have attracted the interest of clubs including Real Madrid and Arsenal.

"Maybe it will be Tottenham. It is a great English club," he told RTBF.

"I said that I would go to England and there is very good players [at Spurs]. I have not yet signed, this is going to happen soon," he added.
Hazard has repeatedly expressed a preference for joining a Premier League club but says he would also consider moving to Spain.

"Spain is perhaps more my style of game but [if I move there] it must be to either Barcelona or Real Madrid."

Hazard had emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal after the departures of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, but a move to Emirates Stadium last summer failed to materialise.

The Belgium international, who made his Lille debut as a 16-year-old and his international debut at 17, is under contract until 2015.

Last season he became the youngest player to win the Ligue 1 player of the year award after helping Lille complete a domestic double.

Default After Latest Episode, Suarez Exit Rumours Explode

Football transfer rumours: Luis Suárez to leave Liverpool?

Today's tittle-tattle could do with a gimmicky cute dog

Having misled his manager and made assorted Liverpool fans who spent the weekend expounding ludicrous conspiracy theories about wrist angles, grassy knolls and phantom third handshakers look even more idiotic, Luis Suárez will be off-loaded in the summer, according to the Mirror. The paper claims the story as an exclusive, but offers no evidence to support it, or any suggestion as to where the Uruguayan striker may go next. So what does it say? That it is "likely" the club will get rid of him at the end of the season. In another story billed as an exclusive but light on actual detail, the Sun claims the half-time tunnel schemozzle at Old Trafford on Saturday was caused by somebody – it doesn't say who – spitting at the Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as he walked to the dressing room.

Fabio Capello, a 65-year-old Italian gentleman who older readers may remember used to manage England, is reported to be in Moscow holding talks with Russians, with a view to allowing Dagestan side Anzhi Makhachkala to hose even more into his bank account than his benevolent former employers at the FA.

Reacting to talk linking him with a summer move to Arsenal, the Sunderland striker Stéphane Sessègnon has told L'Equipe that he will consider his future at the end of the season. "Interest from some bigger English clubs? I don't think about that so far; we will talk about my future again at the end of the season," said the 27-year-old Frenchman, who has scored five goals since Martin O'Neill took over the club in December. Arsenal are also interested in bringing Ipswich Town's Cameroon-born Irishman Carel Tiofack to the Emirates, where the 17-year-old Tractor Boy will become a man. Along with Newcastle United, Arsenal are in the running to bring 25-year-old Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud to England in the summer, although France Football reports that the Ligue 1 side have increased their asking price to €16m from €10m as the striker continues to bang the goals in.

With Stephen Warnock likely to leave Aston Villa this summer, his manager Alex McLeish plans to bring the Rangers left-back Lee Wallace to the Midlands and will offer the financially embarrassed Glasgow club £2.5m for one of their few valuable assets. Of course, with there being every possibility that McLeish may leave Villa during, or even before, the summer too, Wallace may end up staying at Ibrox or going elsewhere.

With Yaya Touré on his way back to England following Ivory Coast's shock defeat to Zambia on penalties in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, midfielder Abdul Razak is now surplus to requirements at Manchester City and will be sent to Brighton on loan. Should he head to the Amex Stadium to play for Gus Poyet in the next couple of days, he'll miss the return of Carlos Tevez to training, with the City manager Roberto Mancini having said the sulky Argentinian scurrier could feature in his side again this season, if he's fit enough and prepared to apologise for behaving like a big eejit.

At the Reebok, the Bolton Wanderers left-back Paul Robinson has found himself marginalised by his manager Owen Coyle and may end up playing his Championship football with Southampton or Burnley instead of the Trotters next season.

Default Chelsea Plot £22 Bid for the 'New Roberto Baggio'

Chelsea plot £22m bid for this striker

Chelsea are considering a £22million bid for Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.

The new Roberto Baggio? What can Chelsea fans expect from top target Stevan Jovetic?

The Montenegrin suffered a serious knee injury last year, but has bounced back to score 23 goals in the last 21 games.

Fiorentina sporting director Vincenzo Guerin said: "Our intention is to rebuild the team around him, but today the world 'unsellable' no longer exists - especially if there is an indecent proposal."

Default 3 EPL Teams Keen on Zambia Strike Hero

Zambia strike hero targeted by Premier League trio

Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka has issued a come-and-get-me plea to the Premier League - with Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham all monitoring his progress.

The Young Boys hitman played a major part in the Copper Bullets winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history earlier this month and is seen as one African football’s hottest prospects.

Mayuka, who joined Young Boys from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2010, is the Swiss side's top scorer this season having netted six times.

But the 21-year-old now wants to make the move to one of Europe’s top leagues, with the Premier League his preferred destination.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham have already showed an interest in the 21-year-old, but the English trio face a fight on their hands with a number of other European sides weighing up moves.

Mayuka's agent James Barrett told talkSPORT: "There has been interest shown from Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham. Emmanuel wants to play in the Premier League, which he feels is the best in the world, but there is more concrete interest from other European clubs."

Default New Suitor Emerges for Sneijder

Sneijder ready to follow Mourinho to Chelsea or Tottenham

Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder is keen on a move to Chelsea, it has been revealed.

Sneijder turned down a bumper offer from Zenit St Petersburg this week, but expects to leave Inter in June.

Tuttosport says the midfield schemer favours a move to England, though accepts interest from Manchester United has now dried up.

Instead, he is banking on Chelsea making an offer - particularly if Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge.

It's suggested wherever Mourinho goes next season, whether it be Chelsea or Tottenham, Sneijder will follow.

Chelsea ready to sell defender Ashley Cole in the summer - report

The experienced Blues left-back is to be allowed to leave after clashing with manager Andre Villas-Boas over team selections and tactics

31-year-old England international Ashley Cole is prepared to leave Chelsea in the summer according the The Sun.

It is reported that owner Roman Abramovich has grown tired of players, including Cole, criticising under-fire boss Andre Villas-Boas and is considering a clear-out.

The Russian billionaire is "fed up with their [the players] moaning," and is willing to let them leave in order to prevent a dressing-room revolt according to sources.

Cole had allegedly questioned Villas-Boas' tactics after a string of poor results including Tuesday's 3-1 Champions League defeat to Napoli.

The Stepney-born defender, who moved across London from Arsenal in 2006, has played over 150 games for Chelsea and is currently one of the longest-serving players at the club.

The Blues currently lie in fifth place, just outside a European spot, despite Premier League title ambitions at the start of the season.

Default Arsenal & Tottenham Battle for Sunderland's Stocky Goal Getter

Football transfer rumours: Stéphane Sessègnon to Arsenal or Tottenham?

As the Mill awoke this morning to discover that a silent, black and white movie whose biggest star is a dog forced to turn tricks on command has been crowned king at the Oscars – the Oscars of the film industry – we were transported back to a simpler time when the transfer game was a more straightforward operation.

After signing on the dotted line at a new club, a player would immediately be treated like the four-legged star of The Artist and put to work at his real trade: a spot of plumbing or perhaps fixing some rickety shelves in the players' lounge. It was the close season, after all, and the wily chairman would know that the new signing would be eager to make an impression and was unlikely to charge a fee.

But time, sadly, keeps moving on and these days the Oscars of the transfer tittle-tattle industry is the winter and summer transfer windows but, just like the movie business, the wheel never stops turning. There are power lunches to be had and deals to be done.

And today is no different. Arsenal and Tottenham are set to duke it out for Sunderland's stocky goal getter Stéphane Sessègnon. Both north London clubs are big fans of the Benin international's work, loved him in that thing with Martin O'Neill and want to get him on board as soon as possible.

Liverpool's head of waffle, Damien Comolli, claims that several "big players" want to join the club in the summer. It's unclear if he means "big" as in tall and cumbersome, like Andy Carroll, or "big" as in rotund and not very good at taking penalties, like Charlie Adam. Or he may just mean "big" and good at football, but that doesn't sound like the kind of signing Liverpool would make.

Barcelona are ready to fight it out with Manchester City for Athletic Bilbao's rangy midfielder Javi Martínez. Quite how this fight will manifest itself remains to be seen but given the Spain international has a £34m release clause in his contract it is likely that it will involve money in some way.

In just the kind of move that will excite Aston Villa fans and help convince them that Alex Mcleish is indeed the man to revitalise the club, it seems that Scott Dann is being lined up for a switch from Ewood Park to Villas Park. That could spell bad news for James Collins or Richard Dunne who could be shown the door at Villa and may even be asked to leave through it, but not close it on the way out because McLeish wants to leave it open in case Robbie Keane gets tired of the LA lifestyle and fancies a return to Brum. "Hopefully, he will think of us first if he does it again." McLeish said of the Ireland's international's short-term loan from MLS.

The former Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is set to sign for Fulham until the end of the season but hopes to impress enough to be given a longer deal.

Neil Warnock wants Bolton's Paul Robinson as his first signing as Leeds manager and hopes to finalise a deal before the emergency loan market closes. In fairness to Warnock it does sound desperate.

Manchester City have too many players so Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman plans to temporarily lighten their load by taking 18-year-old "Spanish starlet" Joan Roman on loan for the rest of the season. And there was the Mill thinking Penelope Cruz was the only Spanish starlet that mattered.

Default Re: Summer Transfer - News and Rumors

Lukas Podolski agrees personal terms with Arsenal - report

The 26-year-old is said to have reached an accord with the Gunners about a summer move that would see him join fellow Germany international Per Mertesacker at the Emirates

Koln striker Lukas Podolski has agreed to join Arsenal at the end of the season, according to a report from Bild.

The Germany international's contract with the Billy Goats expires in 2013, and has repeatedly expressed his love for his hometown club. However, he has admitted frustration with the team's lack of progress in recent years, and earlier this year turned down the prospect of negotiations for a contract extension.

Amid reports that Koln are willing to offer to double his wages to €5 million per year, the player has stood with his previous pledge to wait until after Euro 2012 - and the opening of the transfer window - to decide on his future.

Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the German international and the Gunners reportedly had two bids for the 26-year-old rejected last summer. But with his contract set to expire in just over a year, Koln will have little choice other than to sell their prized asset should he decline a contract extension.

However, German publication Express claim that Podolski has yet to put pen to paper, but that an agreement is only a matter of time and that the Gunners are aiming to tie up the deal as quickly as possible in order to avoid competition for his signature.

Podolski is believed to be on the wishlist of Schalke, who are said to be willing to offer him €6m per year, but now it seems that the Arsenal are leading the chase for the former Bayern Munich man.

The 26-year-old Germany international has been in blistering form for Koln in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 15 goals and giving four assists in 19 appearances.

Default Why Xavi Should Make the £67m Move to PSG

Xavi Hernandez: FC Barcelona Star Should Move to Paris Saint-Germain

Xavi Hernandez, the FC Barcelona talisman, should move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for £67 million, as it'd be the best transfer for all parties concerned.

Reports suggest such a swoop is in the pipeline, with the mega rich Ligue 1 club weighing up a move for the Spaniard, who's contract—albeit with the possibility of a two-year extension—is set to run out in June 2014.

Of course Barcelona fans would think such a move is crazy, especially given that Xavi is quite possibly the player that makes Barca tick, and is without doubt the best passer in the game.

Also, why would La Blaugrana want to sell the man who's helped bring them so much success down the years?

Who'd be next? Lionel Messi? Andres Iniesta?

But the truth is, this transfer could be too good to refuse.

FC Barcelona

Looking at it from the surface, Qatari-owned PSG are willing to meet Barcelona's buyout clause for Xavi, £67 million (€80 million).

That value is clearly a number put in place to fend off interest suitors.

But the fact that PSG might meet, it leaves Barca in a strange, but actually very good place.

After all, that's the figure that'll be paid for a 32-year-old—which is unheard of in the history of world football.

It's a sum of money the Catalan club will rarely ever get for one of their players, let alone one nearing the end of his career.

In a time of UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules coming into effect, that kind of cash would put them in a very healthy position financially, and would allow them to really make the summer signings they want.

After all, the club's vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently admitted the team cannot afford to sign the likes of Gareth Bale and Robin Van Persie. He said:

Quote:
Those players are very good, but we always need common sense in any negotiations. We will not enter the madness market but it is impossible for Barcelona to pay 40 or 50 million Euros for any player.
With a chance to double their transfer kitty from the sale of Xavi, they would again have the financial power to match their brand power, and would be able to sign their top targets.

With Barca's stranglehold on La Liga diminishing as Real Madrid hold a ten point gap at the top, it's clear they need some new signings to bolster their squad once more.

Some depth at centre-back is certainly required, especially given Carles Puyol's recent problems, while a new left-back is also needed.

And the key for Barca is that Xavi's impact is not entirely irreplaceable.

What they will miss most if Xavi leaves is his ability to stretch the play, with the accuracy of his long balls allowing Barcelona to become a multi-dimensional attacking force with unpredictability.

However, the club can adapt without Xavi to a tighter version of tiki-taka, which they do anyway when he's not playing.

The side most recently won 3-1 away to Bayer Leverkusen without Xavi, and whilst they looked shaky at times, the team coped fine. It was mainly their lack of defensive options which would've cost the team.

His long-range game cannot be fully replaced, but over a short range Barca have a plethora of options to fill Xavi's role.

Thiago Alcantara would be the most likely, especially seen as at the moment he boasts an ever soslightly better passing accuracy rate, and has the most similar style to him.

Cesc Fabregas would be another candidate to fill Xavi's boots, and that's exactly what he did at Leverkusen.

The former Arsenal playmaker wasn't entirely convincing in that game, but once Pep Guardiola (or whoever's in charge next season) gives Fabregas a set position in the side, his form in that role will undoubtedly improve.

And in the longer term there's the likes of Jonathan Dos Santos and Sergi Roberto who have shown significant promise in stepping up to the plate.

Most importantly with the departure of Xavi would be the absence of a leader and strong personality in the dressing room.

But in a team full of experienced winners and vocal players, it's only natural (as in any group of people) a new leader would step forward.

So for FC Barcelona, receiving £67 million for a player with only two or three years left in him at the top, and a man who's departure—despite his deserved legendary status—won't dismantle the team, is simply too good to refuse.

Xavi Hernandez

For the player himself, he's achieved all he possibly can at FC Barcelona, with the glorious showering of winners medals he's earned inevitably coming to an end in the near future.

And as far as putting his name into the Camp Nou annals, he's already well and truly done that, with his status as a club legend completely secure.

Unfortunately though, no matter how much he tries, he won't be the greatest Barca player that ever lived.

That honour will undoubtedly go to Lionel Messi.

So it could be time to move on, try a new challenge and write history with another European giant, to completely glorify his name in the wider football spectrum.

A move to a burgeoning Paris Saint-Germain could see that happen, with the club set to become a powerhouse across Europe, and even the world, over the next few years.

He'd inevitably win new league and cup titles, and would have the chance for continental silverware with a new club, which would make his legendary status span across countries.

Plus, and perhaps most importantly, in the short career footballers have, Xavi has the opportunity for an unbelievable payday.

From a move to PSG, he'd immediately get at least £6.7 million (€8 million) from his share of the transfer fee, or possibly double that depending on how good his agent is.

While his wages would also increase significantly, as he'd easily earn 50 percent, or maybe even up to 100 percent, more than he currently earns.

At 32 years of age, Xavi has the chance to have something no other footballer at his age will probably ever get—that final big contract.

For most players it happens at 26, 27 or 28, and maybe even 29 for the best talents out there.

But for Spain's World Cup winner to get it five or six years later than average is an offer he simply can't refuse.

Paris Saint-Germain

This transfer, despite the money quoted for a 32-year-old, would still be great for Paris Saint-Germain.

Of course they'd be getting a fantastic, universally respected talent who still has all of his ability.

That alone would make them a more feared side across France and Europe, and psychologically would give them a better chance to win games.

Plus, the signing of a major star like Xavi Hernandez would boost the morale of the players already at the club and would make them play better, and would also attract other big names to PSG.

While his leadership ability and experience would help the team close out games better, and help make the midfield more disciplined and organised.

Off the pitch it'd also boost the club's brand equity, and would gain them increased revenue from shirt sales, and possibly even better TV revenue from Spain with the potential for a bigger fan base in the country.

And purely for his ability on the pitch, Xavi is exactly what PSG and manager Carlo Ancelotti need.

The Ligue 1 club play quite a narrow style, which has dropped them silly points at times, and they have trouble spreading the play quickly, which is why players like Kevin Gameiro aren't finding the net as often as they should.

Thiago Motta was signed to help correct that, but Xavi is the master of spreading the play, and can do it better than anybody else in the sport.

To have him and Motta in the centre of midfield would give PSG a plethora of options in the final third, and ease the playmaking burden on the likes of Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez, allowing them, along with Nene, to focus more on key passes and finishing chances.

In essence, with Xavi in the side, Les Rouge-et-Bleu would be far more likely to overcome their main problem this season—their lack of consistent goals.

So for Paris Saint-Germain, Xavi Hernandez and FC Barcelona, a £67 million transfer from the Camp Nou to the Parc des Princes, could be best for all parties concerned.
