Manchester - Fans sepakbola mungkin lupa kalau Phil Jones masih pemain Manchester United.

Apa daya, cedera jadi musuhnya Phil Jones.

Phil Jones pun akhirnya sulit dijual.

Man United outcast Phil Jones is proving to be 'UNSELLABLE' with no clubs willing to put in an offer for the out-of-favour defender... as Solskjaer struggles to offload his deadwood to fund transfers

* Phil Jones has not played for Manchester United since the start of 2020
* The defender has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and suffered knee injuries
* Reports claim the 29-year-old is unsellable at United due to a lack of game time
* Jones has a contract at the Premier League club until the summer of 2023

Manchester United are reportedly struggling to generate any interest in forgotten man Phil Jones, despite their best efforts to move him on ahead of the imminent arrival of Raphael Varane.

The 29-year-old defender has not played for the Red Devils in 18 months after falling out of favour before picking up a long-term knee injury, with four other centre-backs enjoying game time in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in that time.

Jones, who still has two years left on his United contract, will fall down the pecking order even further when Real Madrid centre-back Varane arrives at Old Trafford in a £42million deal from the Spanish giants.

Manchester United are finding it difficult to sell defender Phil Jones, according to reports . Jones has not featured for the Red Devils since a FA Cup win over Tranmere at the start of 2020

And, according to the Manchester Evening News, Jones is unable to attract a transfer fee due to the injury that has ruled him out for 13 months, even though his contract expiry date is in June 2023.

The defender signed a new four-year deal mid-way through the 2018-19 season, just a couple of months after Solskjaer was installed as Red Devils boss following Jose Mourinho's sacking.

The deal means the 29-year-old earns £4million-a-year but he has not played since a 6-0 FA Cup victory over Tranmere Rovers at the beginning of 2020.

However, Jones was seen travelling with the United squad as part of their pre-season tour to Scotland last week, but will face an intense battle to force his way into Solskjaer's plans this season.

Jones first fell out of favour under Solskjaer as Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire stamped their authorities as first-choice centre-halves, while Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe are the back-up options in that position.

That competition means Jones is likely to seek a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with reports linking West Ham with a move for the defender on a free transfer.

The move would see Jones reunite with Hammers boss David Moyes, who worked with the centre-back during his brief spell as Red Devils boss between the summer of 2013 and April 2014.

Phil Jones IS in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for this season with injury-plagued defender to be used as a fifth centre back after making first appearance in 19 months in Old Trafford friendly

* Phil Jones will be staying at Manchester United for this Premier League season
* The Englishman has dropped far down the pecking order at Old Trafford
* Jones made a 30-minute comeback off the bench in United's 3-1 win on Tuesday
* The 29-year-old returned from injury and played ahead of Raphael Varane

Phil Jones played for Manchester United for the first time in 19 months in a behind-closed doors friendly against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Jones, who made a 30-minute comeback off the bench in United's 3-1 win, has been out of action since featuring in a FA Cup tie against Tranmere in January 2020.

The 29-year-old defender had knee surgery the following June and has taken more than a year to return to action for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Jones has two years left on his £130,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford. He is keen to rebuild his United career and Solskjaer plans to use him as one of five centre-backs following the signing of Raphael Varane.

Jesse Lingard also played after returning from Covid isolation and scored amid speculation over his future.

West Ham want Lingard back following his impressive loan spell last season. However, United value the England midfielder at £25million and have little interest in another loan deal for a player who will be out of contract next summer.

Phil Jones will be retained by Manchester United this summer and used as fifth choice. The marquee arrival of Raphael Varane has only served to push Jones further down the order

Jadon Sancho started Tuesday's friendly but Varane was absent after taking part in first-team training on Monday as Anthony Martial and Fred scored United's other goals.

Brandon Williams played but is expected to join Norwich on loan next week, while United are still in talks with Brazilian club Flamengo over a move for Andreas Pereira.

Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles and goalkeepers Dean Henderson and David de Gea were among the players who stayed behind at Carrington to continue their respective recovery and fitness training programmes.

Rio Ferdinand takes aim at 'WASTE OF TIME' Phil Jones as he urges his former team-mate to 'find a new club' and insists Manchester United should have offloaded the defender YEARS ago

* Phil Jones made his comeback in United's closed doors friendly against Burnley
* The defender had been sidelined since January 2020 with a knee injury
* He has two years left on his contract and hopes to reinstate himself in the side
* Rio Ferdinand claimed Jones is blocking an academy player from the first team

Rio Ferdinand has claimed Phil Jones is blocking a Manchester United academy player from a first team opportunity as he urged the 29-year-old to leave Old Trafford.

Jones played for the first time in 19 months in a behind-closed doors friendly against Burnley last week after being sidelined with a knee injury.

The defender took part in United's pre-season training and is plotting his way back into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Jones has two years left on his £130,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford and is keen to rebuild his United career.

However, his chances of regaining a regular starting spot are slim after the £42million arrival of Raphael Varane and Ferdinand has called time on his former team-mate's Old Trafford stay.

Ferdinand claimed Jones's exit was long overdue and believes the defender should have been offloaded before Chris Smalling left for Roma in 2019.

Rio Ferdinand has urged his former United team-mate Phil Jones to 'find a new club'. The former United man claimed Jones should have left when Chris Smalling did. Ferdinand claimed Phil Jones is blocking a United academy player from the first team. Jones returned to pre-season training this summer after 19 months sidelined with an injury

'He's taking up a youth team player's position in that squad right now,' Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE.

'He's had too many injuries… I was in the same team as Phil Jones, he came from Blackburn as a young kid, everyone was saying he was going to be this great player.

'Huge potential but injuries have absolutely annihilated his career and then confidence issues at certain times as well.

'He's never been able to fully establish himself in the team. Whether it's injuries, lack of form, lack of confidence.

'I think he should've gone ages ago. He should've gone before Chris Smalling went. Find a new club and play some football.'

Transfermarkt lists 23 separate issues during Jones's United career, the latest being the serious knee injury he has spent the past 18 months battling back from.

It means a decade at United has seen Jones play just 224 times, less than half the games the team has played.

In the 2013-14 campaign, he featured in 39 games but hasn't topped 30 since, amid a recurring nightmare of injuries.

But despite spending most of his United career on the injury table, the Red Devils hierarchy offered Jones a four-year contract extension in 2019, which keeps him tied to Old Trafford until 2023.

'He's lacked consistency throughout his career at Man United. That's a fact, for all the reasons I stated before,' Ferdinand added.

'I am baffled at how he's still been given a new deal at the club given his past few years at the club. It just doesn't make sense to me how you get a new deal.

'I remember back in the day you'd have to do some absolute graft to get a new deal. You'd have to be putting in performances, you'd have to be a vital member of the team. Phil Jones isn't that.

'He's done well. Listen, good luck to him if you can get it. Staying at Man United is a great gig, but I look at him as a person, are you really going to be happy sitting there all these years.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tells Rio Ferdinand he is 'completely OUT OF ORDER' for branding Phil Jones 'a waste of time' in the Manchester United squad and says his old team-mate 'should've called' to discuss defender's injury problems

* Rio Ferdinand didn't hold back talking about Phil Jones on his YouTube channel
* Ferdinand branded Jones 'a waste of time' after his years in the wilderness
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hit back at Ferdinand's remarks on Friday afternoon

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at Rio Ferdinand for calling Phil Jones a ‘waste of time’ by telling his former Manchester United teammate he is ‘completely out of order’.

Jones played for the first time in nearly a year-and-a-half earlier this month in a behind-closed-doors game against Burnley after battling his way back from knee surgery.

However, Ferdinand accused the 29-year-old centre-back of blocking a young player’s path into the first-team at Old Trafford and suggested he should find another club.

Solskjaer relished the chance to stick up for Jones on Friday when he fired back at Ferdinand.

‘Phil has had a horrible 18, 19 or 20 months and probably a year before that with injuries,’ said the United boss. ‘I thought Rio should have called me and asked why Phil hasn’t played.

‘He’s a no fuss, get-on-with-it type of guy and I think that was completely out of order. I haven’t spoken to Rio but I think he’s a bit sorry about that one.

‘I know more than anyone how it feels to be judged at that stage. Phil is not 30 years of age, he’s been battling against this knee injury since I came back to the club.

'He puts his body on the line every single training session and game, and he’s never done anything than give everything for the club. Rio of all people should know more than to go out and say this.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unimpressed by Rio Ferdinand's remarks over Phil Jones. Ferdinand described Jones as 'a waste of time' on his YouTube channel this week. Jones has been battling his way back to fitness following a tough time with knee problems

‘I’ve wanted to say a lot and I’ve not said too much about Phil’s injury because I’ve more or less protected him. Phil never does social media or interviews, he gets his head down. He’s a proper professional, a family man and just wants to get back fit.

‘We managed to get him half an hour against Burnley and he’s working his way back. He’s battled valiantly.

‘I was out for two years with a knee injury. I know how Phil has felt because you’re embarrassed coming in an times. You have to look after your career.

‘To see that he can see light at the end of the tunnel is great because I’ve been through the same. We have to give him a month or six weeks.’

Phil Jones reveals his struggle to cope with criticism on 'toxic' social media after his wife and children saw him 'getting slaughtered' for poor displays... as he tries to revive his Manchester United career after suffering injury hell

* Manchester United star Phil Jones has revealed his struggles with social media
* The centre back has not posted on Twitter since 2017 as a result of abuse
* He said he couldn't bare his family seeing him getting 'slaughtered' online
* Jones fears for the next generation of youngsters against trolls on social media

Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes young players coming into the game now have to be mentally capable of handling the 'toxic' environment of social media after he turned his back on his online presence.

The 29-year-old, who became the subject of a number of internet memes, has endured his fair share of abuse after enduring a tough time at Old Trafford in recent years and shared his anguish that his wife Kaya Hall and his children were seeing him targeted online.

As a result, while his social media accounts remain live, he has not posted on Twitter since May 2017 and the following month for Instagram just because of the abuse he was receiving.

Man United star Phil Jones has revealed his struggles with 'toxic' social media in recent years. The defender said his wife Kaya Hall and his children were watching him getting 'slaughtered' with abuse online. Jones, who has become an outcast at United after a battle with injuries, said players were having to face increasing abuse from social media

'I stepped away from social media a long time ago but it's difficult because all your friends read it, your family read it and they support you, they want the best for you,' Jones told the UTD podcast, out on Monday.

'They don't want to see their mate, their husband, their dad getting slaughtered all over the papers or all over the media, so it's tough because mentally I was going through a tough time and (then) to read stuff as well...

'It's difficult but it's something I've learned to deal with, especially over the time I've been at United and the more experience you get, the older you get, the better you learn to deal with those things.

'I suppose for young players coming into the game now, not just at Man United, but all over the world, it's a very hostile, toxic place to come into and they've got to be able to deal with that mentally as well as physically.

'I look how the game's been developed over the last 10 years, and the way social media has developed and it's difficult to stay away from it.

'It's difficult not to get distracted by it (and) young players coming into the game, I think it's difficult for them not to read it.

'I know as a young player, that's the first thing you do: you come off the game and you want to see what people are saying about you and when you strip it all back in reality, it doesn't really matter what they say because they're not picking the team.'

Jones is hoping to feature for United this season after failing to play a game for two years. He last played against Tranmere in January 2020 before picking up a crippling knee problem

Jones has not played for United since an FA Cup tie against Tranmere in January 2020 due to a knee problem but has featured in a couple of behind-closed-doors friendlies and was in the matchday squad for last month's Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham.

However, his return to fitness may prove timely as Harry Maguire is out for a few weeks with a calf problem and summer signing Raphael Varane was forced off injured in France's Sunday's Nations League final victory over Spain.

That could mean for the match against Leicester on Saturday manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to have to field Victor Lindelof plus either Eric Bailly, whose one appearance this season came in that Cup defeat to West Ham, or potentially Jones.

Phil Jones 'is targeted by THIRTEEN clubs including Newcastle, Watford and Derby' as Man United weigh up whether to send defender out on loan in January after almost two years of injury hell

* Phil Jones has finally returned to full fitness after suffering serious knee injury
* Man United are considering sending the defender out on loan in January window
* 13 clubs are reportedly interested in taking the former England centre-back
* Watford, Newcastle and Wayne Rooney's Derby are believed to be among them
* Jones hasn't played first team football for Man United since January last year

Phil Jones 'is attracting interest from 13 different clubs' ahead of a potential January exit from Manchester United - despite not playing first-team football for nearly two years.

The defender, 29, has endured a nightmare time with a serious knee injury and hasn't played for United since a FA Cup tie at Tranmere Rovers in January last year.

But Premier League clubs Watford and Newcastle United, plus Wayne Rooney's Derby County, are reportedly among 13 clubs who have asked about taking Jones on loan.

The Sun report, however, that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will delay a decision on whether to allow Jones to leave until after Christmas.

Phil Jones is reportedly attracting interest from a number of clubs as Manchester United consider whether to send the injury-cursed defender out on loan in January. The defender hasn't played for United since a FA Cup tie at Tranmere Rovers in January 2020

Solskjaer doesn't want to risk leaving United light on defensive options amid a hectic schedule if injuries strike.

Jones was an unused substitute for the Carabao Cup tie against West Ham in September but has only played under-23 football for United so far this season.

He has been training regularly since the summer, however, and United would consider a loan move to restore Jones to full match fitness.

The centre-back's £130,000-a-week United contract runs until the summer of 2023.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will decide whether to send Jones out on loan in January. Jones has played in Under-23 fixtures for United this season as he regains his match fitness

Jones wasn't playing regularly prior to his knee injury, which ultimately required surgery last summer, but scored in the 6-0 win at Tranmere that is his last United outing.

'I've been through hell and back over the last couple of years,' Jones said in September.

'I think as a footballer, as a person, as a human being, that's the lowest I probably ever felt in my life.'

Rio Ferdinand, a former team-mate, said Jones was 'taking up a youth team player's position in the squad' and 'should've gone ages ago' - comments for which he later apologised after criticism.
