Manchester United set to seal huge £60m deal for Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka with showdown talks in next 48 hours

* Manchester United and Crystal Palace to finalise terms over £60million move
* Representatives from Old Trafford will meet Palace counterparts over deal
* Red Devils hope to complete transfer for full-back by the end of the weekend

Manchester United expect to clinch a £60million deal to sign Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka during formal talks in the next 48 hours.

Sportsmail understands representatives from Old Trafford are scheduled to meet counterparts from Selhurst Park, an indication a deal is very close.

There is now a growing inevitability that the right back's switch to United will go through in the coming days.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - currently with England Under 21s - is close to a Manchester United move. The Crystal Palace full-back is set to move with a £60million deal taking him to Old Trafford

The latest talks are designed to iron out the finer details of Wan-Bissaka's pending switch to join up with Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's side but - barring a last minute hitch - both clubs should leave the meeting with a deal in place.

It remains to be seen whether England Under 21 boss Aidy Bothroyd will allow Wan-Bissaka to complete the formalities of his switch north during international duty.

The defender is currently at the European Under 21 Championships in Italy but has endured a difficult start to the tournament, scoring a stoppage time own goal to consign England to a 2-1 defeat by France in their opening match.

Wan-Bissaka enjoyed an outstanding campaign at boyhood club Palace in 2018-19, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

He broke into the first-team setup under Roy Hodgson the previous season, making his debut in February 2018 in a 1-0 defeat by Tottenham.

The right-back position has been a problem area for United, who relied on Ashley Young for the majority of the previous campaign.

Wan-Bissaka's arrival at United would significantly reinforce the right back area. Wan-Bissaka has made 46 appearances for Palace since breaking into the first-team

Solskjaer is plotting a summer of upheaval at Old Trafford, with Wan-Bissaka likely to become the second signing on the summer for the red half of Manchester.

United have already brought in Wales winger Daniel James from Swansea in a deal costing in the region of £17m.

Romelu Lukaku could be heading through the exit door if Inter Milan meet United's £80m asking price for the striker.

And there is, of course, Paul Pogba's future, which is under intensifying scrutiny after the France midfielder said it is time for a new challenge after rejoining the club in 2016 from Juventus.

Meanwhile, Boothroyd has made the stark admission that United's pursuit of Wan-Bissaka has unsettled the right back at a key moment in his career in the wake of his own goal against France.

'I could dodge (this question) by saying you have to ask him that but I won't,' said Boothroyd. 'I think when you are nearly going to move and all the things that would go through an older person's head, who is more experienced in life, it would be difficult for them to cope with.

'For a young player who all he knows is Crystal Palace academy, Crystal Palace first team it would be daft not to say that in some way he must think about it. I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that. He doesn't say too much you don't get to find out too much.

'Aaron keeps things to himself. He is a very private guy. When that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head. He's disappointed with the own goal. It's been going on for a long time. In Poland last time we had a similar situation last time with Jordan Pickford, a lot of speculation.'

Boothroyd added: 'Everton agreed the deal, they worked very closely with us and were very respectful in terms of not getting involved in our build-up. In the end it was done in a hotel down the road away from everything else, all the medicals and got done.

'If that was to happen we certainly wouldn't be blocking anybody, we'd be talking to people and seeing if we could help out - providing both clubs were happy with it. If that happens we'll oblige and if it doesn't suit us we'll find a time when it does.'

Manchester United on verge of agreeing initial £42.5m fee with Crystal Palace for full back Aaron Wan-Bissaka after talks are ramped up

* Man United and Crystal Palace held extensive talks over Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* Clubs understood to be closer to agreement on an initial fee of £42.5million
* Palace value the 21-year-old right-back at £60m so add-ons will follow
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to conclude deal for the impressive young defender
* Wan-Bissaka currently on England Under 21 duty at European Championship

Manchester United and Crystal Palace held extensive talks on Friday regarding the protracted transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The clubs are understood to be closer to an agreement with talks centring on a figure of around £42.5million for the 21-year-old with add-ons to follow.

Palace value the England under 21 international right-back at £60m and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Wan-Bissaka as a key part of his defence going forward as he looks to inject greater energy into his side's play.

The chances of the move going through have increased in recent days despite the defender being currently away on international duty at the Under 21 European Championship in Italy.

Was-Bissaka's value has soared following an outstanding campaign at boyhood club Palace last season that saw him make 39 appearance in all competitions.

He had burst into the first team set-up when manager Roy Hodgson gave him a chance during the latter part of 2017-18 season, making his debut in a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in February 2018.

And since then, the 21-year-old from Croydon has made the right-back position his own as well as breaking into Aidy Boothroyd's under 21 squad.

He will form a centrepiece of Solskjaer's overhaul of an under-performing United squad that could only finish sixth in the Premier League last season.

Right-back is a problem position for United, who relied on Ashley Young in the majority of matches.

Manchester United and Crystal Palace are closer to an agreement over Aaron Wan-Bissaka. A fee of £42.5million is likely for the 21-year-old right-back Wan-Bissaka

Antonio Valencia has already been released by the Old Trafford club and it is possible Italian Matteo Darmian could also depart this summer.

It would leave them with just Diogo Dalot, who has often been played in a more advanced role on the right-hand side of Solskjaer's side.

So Wan-Bissaka's arrival would be a welcome one and he would represent United's second signing of the summer following the £17m purchase of Dan James from Swansea City.

It would then allow Solskjaer to turn attention to United's pursuit of a new centre back and potentially a central midfielder should Paul Pogba depart.

Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka was dropped to the bench by England under 21 manager Aidy Boothroyd for their second European Championship match against Romania on Friday night.

It came amid suggestions that the ongoing transfer saga with United had distracted the youngster, who scored a decisive own goal in the stoppage time during England's 2-1 loss to France in their tournament opener.

Boothroyd admitted Wan-Bissaka had been affected by the speculation over his future.

He said: 'It would be difficult for an older person, who is more experienced in life, to cope with all the things that go through your head when you are nearly moving. This has been going on a long time.

'For a young player, who only knows Crystal Palace's academy and first team, it would be daft not to say he hasn't thought about it.

'I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that. When that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head.'

Crystal Palace 'rejected unrealistic Manchester United offer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as it included payment for winning the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE'

* Manchester United are in talks with Crystal Palace to buy Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* United have already had two bids turned down for the 21-year-old right back
* One bid was said to include an add-on for United winning the Champions League
* Palace reportedly said no as they think United conquering Europe is unrealistic

Transfer talks between Manchester United and Crystal Palace about Aaron Wan-Bissaka reportedly hit a snag over a cheeky Champions League add-on.

Palace value 21-year-old Wan-Bissaka at around £60million but Sportsmail understands a deal with United worth an initial £42.5m is close.

Two bids have already been rejected, with The Guardian claiming the second guaranteed just £35m, plus a further £15m in performance-related bonuses.

Manchester United still believe they can get Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal over the line despite not agreeing fee yet with Crystal Palace

* Manchester United want to secure Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* Talks are ongoing between the clubs and United are optimistic over deal
* Palace's 21-year-old is highly rated and Eagles are expected to get £42million

Manchester United are continuing their push to sign Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Having so far only brought in Daniel James from Swansea, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are looking to kick-start their summer rebuild by signing the talented 21-year-old right-back.

It is understood that talks between United and Palace continue after Wan-Bissaka returned from the Under-21 European Championship following England's group-stage exit.

Manchester United are still engaging in talks with Crystal Palace over Aaron Wan-Bissaka

There is a belief within Old Trafford that a deal can be struck with Palace for their academy graduate for around £42million.

Leicester defender Harry Maguire is another player interesting United as they look to improve in central defence, while it is understood that Sporting's Bruno Fernandes is among the rated midfielders.

The Portugal international enjoyed an outstanding season at the Lisbon club, where a number of players are due to return to pre-season on Wednesday.

Fernandes, though, is currently on holiday in Dubai after helping his country win the Nations League. Newcastle man Sean Longstaff is another player on United's radar.

Ander Herrera's exit has left United with a hole in midfield, while Paul Pogba is keen to get a 'new challenge somewhere else' if possible.

Romelu Lukaku is another big-name player open to an exit, but it is understood that Inter Milan have yet to make a serious offer.

Questions also remain over the future of the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian.

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza have denied reports that youngster Mateo Mejia has left the club for United.

A statement from the Spanish club read: 'Real Zaragoza has not reached any agreement for the transfer of this player to Manchester United.'

Aaron Wan-Bissaka hits the jackpot! Crystal Palace star to bag 1,000 PER CENT pay rise at Manchester United when he pens £80,000-a-week deal

* Aaron Wan-Bissaka is close to a move from Crystal Palace to Manchester United
* Defender will scoop a 1,000 per cent pay rise when he completes dream move
* He will earn up to £80,000 a week – a huge leap from his current £8,000-a-week deal at Crystal Palace

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will scoop a whopping 1,000 per cent pay rise when he completes his dream move to Manchester United this week.

The Crystal Palace right back travelled north on Wednesday night for the first part of his medical and the transfer is expected to be ratified in the next 24 hours.

United claim they have agreed a deal worth up to £50million for Wan-Bissaka, but sources insist the deal is closer to the £60m mark with incentives included.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will scoop a 1,000 per cent pay rise when he joins Manchester United

Either way, it makes Wan-Bissaka one of the world's most expensive defenders. The 21-year-old will pen a deal worth up to £80,000 a week – an incredible leap from his £8,000-a-week pay at Selhurst Park.

Negotiations between the two clubs included a proposal from Palace to reduce or remove the 25 per cent sell-on clause that United secured when they sold Wilfried Zaha back to the London club, but the clause remains unchanged.

Zaha wishes to leave to play in the Champions League, but Palace have been clear they would not sell both Zaha and Wan-Bissaka this summer. Arsenal want Zaha, but they are unlikely to meet Palace's £80m valuation.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrives at Lowry Hotel for Manchester United medical ahead of his £50m move from Crystal Palace... with his entourage including Wilfried Zaha's brother Herve

* Aaron Wan-Bissaka is in Manchester ahead of sealing a £50m move to United
* The Crystal Palace defender was spotted inside the Lowry ahead of his medical
* Player was flanked by his entourage, including Wilfried Zaha's brother Herve
* His family headed out for dinner at San Carlo, while he went to complete medical

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been spotted at the Lowry Hotel for the first time as his £50million move to Manchester United edges ever closer.

The Crystal Palace defender is set to seal an incredible 1000 per cent pay rise when he joins on an £80,000-a-week, five-year deal on Thursday, and he looked in high spirits after touching down in Manchester.

Wearing a white Gucci jumper, the 21-year-old flew north from Biggin Hill in Surrey alongside his entourage – which included his family and the brother of fellow Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha, himself an ex-United player.

Herve Zaha is part of Wan-Bissaka's management team, working as a football consultant for Unique Sports Management (USM).

Negotiations between Palace and United for the Wan-Bissaka deal included a proposal from the Eagles to reduce or remove the 25 per cent sell-on clause that United secured when they sold Zaha back to the London club, but the clause remains unchanged.

Wan-Bissaka arrived in the North West on Wednesday afternoon, before travelling straight to his base at the Lowry Hotel with his family and management team.

From there, the defender was transported for his medical, while it is understood his family and team — including agent Will Salthouse — headed out for a meal at nearby San Carlo.

Wan-Bissaka was then spotted again as he arrived back at the Lowry shortly after 10pm, where he and his team celebrated his big-money move in the hotel bar.

Manchester United will pay £45m up front for the right back with a further £5m in conditional add-ons.

The Red Devils will now also move on to the rest of their summer targets, with funds in place to continue spending as they revitalise the squad.

Wan-Bissaka will be United's second signing of the summer transfer window after they snapped up Daniel James from Swansea.

Quote:

1. Paul Pogba (£89m)

2. Romelu Lukaku (£75m)

3. Angel di Maria (£59m)

4. Fred (£52m)

5. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£50m)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has targeted young domestic talents as he looks to rebuild his squad at United.

They only finished sixth in the Premier League last season after a difficult campaign.

England Under-21 international Wan-Bissaka only made his senior debut in February 2018 but was named Player of the Year by Palace fans last season after an impressive campaign.

He did, however, make a crucial error during the Under-21 side's loss against France during the opening game of this summer's European Championship.
