Man United director of football operations Alan Dawson 'is set to depart the club' after over five years in the role in latest staff change behind the scenes at Old Trafford

Alan Dawson MBE, who has occupied the role since September 2017, is set to remain on initially to work on an 'unspecified special project.' But, according to The Athletic, Dawson will exit the club 'in due course' though this hasn't been fully confirmed. Dawson initially joined United in April 2012 and served in the posts of Commercial Operations Director, Director of Business Development and Group Operations Director before his current post. Prior to that he served in the Royal Air Force for 17 years, including three as Squadron Commander. Manchester United's director of football operations 'is set to leave the club in due course'. It followed Richard Arnold's appointment as chief executive last January and football director John Murtough being given wider responsibilities. Incoming staff have included deputy football director Andy O'Boyle, head of women's football Polly Bancroft and director of data science Dominic Jordan. United were beaten 3-1 at Aston Villa on Sunday to leave them sitting fifth in the Premier League table, some 11 points shy of leaders Arsenal.
