Roberto Carlos
Roberto Carlos Officially Retires
Roberto Carlos officially retires from playing to take up Anzhi role • Brazil World Cup winner earned 125 caps • Roberto Carlos has not played since March The former Brazil and Real Madrid full-back Roberto Carlos has officially ended his playing career, the Anzhi Makhachkala player confirmed on Wednesday. The 2002 World Cup winner, who joined the wealthy Russian club in February 2011, has not played since being taken off the team's squad in March. "Roberto had been a world class player, but unfortunately he doesn't play any more," said the former Russia coach Guus Hiddink, who was appointed as Anzhi's manager in February. "Fortunately, Roberto will now take up a role to develop this club for the good of the game in the Dagestan region and the whole of Russia." The 39-year-old said he was planning a farewell game against his former club Real. "We had met Real president Florentino Perez and discussed such a match between Real and Anzhi," Roberto Carlos said. "We need to set up a date that suits both clubs. I would like to have my farewell to be played in Makhachkala." Anzhi's billionaire owner, Suleiman Kerimov, said last year that he wanted to make the Brazilian the club's worldwide ambassador. Roberto Carlos, a two-times Copa América winner, won 125 caps for Brazil and played at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups. He quit the national side following the latter competition after being criticised in Brazil where he was blamed for allowing Thierry Henry to score the only goal in their quarter-final defeat to France. Raised at the provincial club União São João, he made his name during three seasons with Palmeiras, moving to Internazionale for one season and then Real Madrid, where he spent 11 seasons. After that, he still had time for a stint in Turkey with Fenerbahçe before moving home to play for Corinthians. Code:

Re: Roberto Carlos
Gak ada yang update berita Legend yang satu ini.
================================================== ====== Carlos appointed at Sivasspor The 40-year-old - a World Cup winner in 2002 - has assumed control of the Turkish Super Lig side after leaving his role as director of football with ambitious Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala. He retired from playing following a brief spell as interim boss of Anzhi in early 2012 and, having spent the last year working behind the scenes for Guus Hiddink, he has assumed his first full-time coaching role. During his unveiling ceremony at the Sivas 4 Eylul Stadium, he told the club's official website: "This is one of the most important days of my life. "I'm pleased to be here and first of all I want to thank the president (Mecnun Odyakmaz) for giving me this chance. "This will be a team effort and we have lofty ambitions. I would like to see the stadium full for every game while we strive to bring success on the field." Sivasspor have enjoyed mixed success since their arrival in the top flight in 2005, winning the championship in 2009 but steadily falling away to finish 12th in the recently concluded campaign. Cesar Domingos becomes his compatriot's assistant manager while former Sivasspor midfielder Murat Erdogan takes over as director of football. A former left-back with Inter Milan, Palmeiras and Uniao Sao Joao, Roberto Carlos has previous experience of the Super Lig having represented Fenerbahce 66 times between 2007 and 2009. His time in Istanbul was preceded by a brief return to Brazil and Corinthians before he joined big-spending Anzhi in February 2011. But he is best known for his time in Madrid - where he won four Primera Division titles, three Champions League trophies, the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup - and for scoring with a wickedly curling free-kick from almost 40 yards against France in 1997.
