David Beckham 'devastated and relieved' that son Romeo no longer plays football

* David Beckham is happy to see his sons have passions other than football
* Romeo models clothes while Brooklyn has an interest in photography
* Beckham has moved a step closer to starting his own MLS franchise
* His team of investors have acquired a site in Miami to build a new stadium

David Beckham said he had mixed feelings when his son Romeo told him he no longer wanted to play football.

The sport star said his 13-year-old, who models clothes for fashion giant Burberry, has other passions in life.

Beckham also spoke about his eldest son Brooklyn, saying 'photography is his passion' - a pursuit evident on the 16-year-old's Instagram account which has more than five million followers.

David Beckham has admitted he has mixed feelings about his son revealing he no longer wants to play football

The former Manchester United player told the Radio Times Christmas issue: 'The other day Romeo turned round to me and said he didn't want to play football any more. Part of me was devastated but part of me was relieved, too.'

He added: 'He's got other passions and I like that.'

Beckham, 40, has two other children - 10-year-old Cruz and four-year-old Harper - with wife Victoria

The news comes just days after the former Real Madrid midfielder moved a step closer to owning his own Major League Soccer franchise as his team of investors acquired a site in Miami to build a new stadium for Miami Beckham United.

Beckham's team, which has spent over a year trying to find a home for his franchise in the Floridian city, has secured land in Miami's Overtown neighbourhood and plans to develop the site subject to MLS approval.

FIFA's corruption scandals 'disgusting' but 2018 and 2022 World Cups should stay in Russia and Qatar, says David Beckham

* FIFA has been in crisis since May when 14 executives were indicted
* Last week 16 more officials were charged by US authorities
* FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini are each serving a 90-day suspension

David Beckham has branded FIFA's corruption scandals 'disgusting' but believes the 2018 and 2022 World Cups should not be moved.

FIFA has been in crisis since May when 14 executives were indicted as part an FBI investigation into corruption and last week 16 more officials were charged by US authorities.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini are each serving a 90-day suspension while a Swiss criminal investigation into the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Russia and Qatar was launched earlier this year.

Beckham, who was part of the FA delegation aiming to win the 2018 bid, was asked whether the arrests and the prospect of a new president in 2016 meant FIFA was turning a corner.

'No - they are just hitting the bend,' Beckham told the Christmas issue of Radio Times.

'There's a lot still to be done. It's such a mess that it's going to take a while to sort out.

'For me to see the game, the way it's been treated and looked after, is devastating. It's disgusting.'

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has branded FIFA's corruption scandals 'disgusting'

There have been repeated calls for the 2018 and 2022 elections to be re-run, with 16 of the 24 committee members serving at the time of the bids either already punished for misconduct or currently under investigation.

The Qatar tournament in 2022 has come under particular scrutiny, given the tournament will need to be played in the winter months due to the high risk to players and fans from temperatures that can reach 50 degrees Celsius in summer.

It has been proposed that the competition will instead start in November and despite the difficulties, Beckham insists 'they'll make it work'.

'Whether it's corrupt or not, those countries have been chosen,' Beckham said. 'People need to get behind that. It's all about bringing football to new countries. I think they should stick with it.'

Beckham is also working to spread the game's global appeal and is pressing ahead with plans to create a Major League Soccer franchise in Miami.

A site for the franchise's stadium has been approved by Major League Soccer after Beckham's team of investors acquired land in Miami's Overtown neighbourhood last week.

The former Manchester United midfielder says they are 'on course' to enter the league in 2018 and is confident 'a couple of big players' can be lured to the club.

'Someone sent me a message yesterday asking if it had all fallen through. No,' Beckham added.

'We're not telling everyone what's happening constantly but it's all coming good.'

Beckham Dukung Sang Anak Nyanyikan Lagu Tottenham

Perkataan singkat tersebut disiarkan dalam acara Beckham's BBC documentary, For The Love Of The Game, yang pertama kali ditayangkan pada Selasa malam waktu setempat.

When The Spurs Go Marching In.

Ragam Cibiran Fotografer Pada Brooklyn Beckham

Fino Yurio Kristo - detikinet

John Gorrigan, fotografer majalah Esquire menyatakan Brooklyn kemungkinan hanya cukup menekan tombol kameranya.

(fyk/ash)

Manchester United slump was inevitable, says David Beckham... but club icon only hears great things about Louis van Gaal

* Manchester United news: Click here for all the latest from Old Trafford
* Manchester United legend David Beckham has praised Louis van Gaal
* The former England captain says he only hears great things about boss
* Van Gaal is under pressure at Old Trafford following series of poor results
* However, Beckham has admitted the club's current slump was inevitable

David Beckham has claimed that Manchester United's current slump was inevitable ‒ and the former England captain has also revealed his admiration for current manager Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman has come under increased pressure at Old Trafford following a poor run of results which included a disappointing 2-1 defeat by Midtjylland in their Europa League round of 32 first leg clash.

But Beckham has leaped to Van Gaal's defence by claiming he only 'hears great things about' the United boss.

David Beckham has claimed that his former club Manchester United's current slump was inevitable

'Van Gaal is an experienced manager with a great reputation in the game. Sometimes it takes time. It is not easy being manager of Manchester United,' Beckham told talkSPORT.

'We have to look at results, we have to look at the way we play, we have to listen to fans - the people that really matter at the club - and I only hear great things about him as a person, as a manager, as a coach.

'I have met him once before and he treated me unbelievably well. He is manager of Manchester United so there is always going to be criticism, but at the end of the season let's see what happens.'

However, Beckham ‒ who enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at United before leaving for Real Madrid in 2003 ‒ admits he is not surprised by the club's current slump.

The Red Devils are on the brink of a shock Europa League exit and are also struggling in the Premier League ‒ and Beckham claims it was bound to happen following Sir Alex Ferguson's exit.

'As a United fan, I always hoped we wouldn't go through a slump, but it was inevitable. When the manager left that was always going to be a massive thing, but you also lost players like Keaney, like Scholesy, and Giggsy has stopped playing. You have lost such great characters through the team,' he added.

'We have had so much success over the last twenty years that if we don't win something for one season or two seasons people talk about it being a crisis.

'United is United. It doesn't matter if you love them or hate them, they are one of the biggest, if not the biggest, club in the world and you have to keep that reputation. The only way you can keep that reputation is by winning trophies.'

David Beckham visits PSG's London hotel ahead of Champions League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

* David Beckham visited former team-mates ahead of PSG's trip to Chelsea
* Marco Verratti posted photo with ex-England captain on social media

Paris Saint-Germain's players received a surprise visit from a football legend ahead of their Champions League clash with Chelsea, as David Beckham popped into the team's hotel on Tuesday.

The former England captain, who lives in Kensington, dropped in on Marco Verratti and the rest of the French club's squad at the Bentley Hotel near Gloucester Road tube station in London, posing for a photograph with the Italian.

Verratti shared the image on his Instagram page, commenting: 'It's always good to see you @davidbeckham'.

PSG players Salvatore Sirigu (second left), Marco Verratti (fourth left) and coach Zoumana Camara (far right) posed for a picture with David Beckham

The pair know each other from Beckham's short time in Paris during the 2012/2013 season, where he played 12 times prior to his retirement, following spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and AC Milan.

In his final match - a 3-1 victory over Brest - Beckham was substituted late in the game and left the Parc Des Princes pitch in tears.

Verratti would do well to call on the 40-year-old's experience of big European matchdays, as PSG look to knock the Blues out of the Champions League for the second successive season.

Laurent Blanc's men take a 2-1 lead into their last-16 second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, after goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani in Paris a fortnight ago gave the Ligue 1 leaders the advantage in the tie.

PSG dispatched of Chelsea on away goals at the same stage last term and have been given an extra boost ahead of the game with the news that home captain John Terry is not fit to feature.

Terry has missed the last five matches with a hamstring problem sustained in the 5-1 win over Newcastle on February 13 and revealed on social media that he will not recover in time to face PSG.

'I'm gutted to be missing the PSG game,' Terry wrote on Instagram. 'It's so frustrating missing any game, but these big Champions League nights at the Bridge are unbelievable and it hurts as a player not to be involved.'

David Beckham calls anti-Arsene Wenger banner 'disgraceful' as former England captain defends under-fire Arsenal boss

* David Beckham has accused some Arsenal fans of being attention seekers
* Beckham was responding on Instagram in defence of Arsene Wenger
* Some Gunners supporters feel it is time for the manager to 'say goodbye'
* But Beckham labelled the banner 'disgraceful' and lacking in respect

David Beckham has spoken out in defence of Arsene Wenger, amid growing unrest among Arsenal supporters towards their manager following the club's surprise FA Cup exit at the hands of Watford.

Goals from Odion Ighalo and Adlene Guedioura dashed the Gunners' hopes of becoming the first club since Blackburn Rovers in the 1880s to win the competition three years in a row.

Defeat to the Hornets was Arsenal's third consecutive at home in all competitions for the first time since 2004, but despite the season unravelling at an alarming rate, Beckham has taken it upon himself to blast Wenger's critics.

David Beckham commented on an Arsenal Instagram page debating whether a banner was appropriate

Wenger has come across Beckham (right) several times during the 19 years he has been in the country

A well-regarded Gunners Instagram page - arsenal_worldwide - posed the question to its 170,000 followers: 'Arsene - Thanks For The Memories But It's Time To Say Goodbye. Disrespectful or Truthful? #COYG '.

Beckham, who has always spoken in glowing terms about his rivalry and respect for Wenger during his time as a Manchester United player - felt inclined to join the debate.

'Disgraceful... No respect, attention seekers,' wrote Beckham, in reference to a banner that resurfaced in the away end during the 4-0 win at Hull last week directed towards the beleaguered boss.

Such is the fickle nature of some football supporters, the banner - which reads: 'Arsene, Thanks for the memories but it's time to say goodbye' - first appeared against West Brom in November 2014.

A section of Arsenal supporters have had just about enough with the club's excuses for past failures

Unsurprisingly, having retained the FA Cup last May and been in serious contention for the Premier League title this season until recently, the banner has only just reappeared on the terraces.

Beckham, who retired from football in 2013, was clearly angered by both the banner and increased speculation surrounding Wenger's future at the Emirates.

The 40-year-old, whose son Brooklyn spent time with the Arsenal Academy, was grateful to Wenger in the autumn of his playing career when he was allowed to keep fit at the club's London Colney training base during the MLS off-season.

The Frenchman came out fighting in the press after exiting the FA Cup saying: 'What is going on at the moment is very, very difficult to take for the players, but judge us at the end of the season.

'We have come to the end of a very, very long run in the FA Cup, so it is very sad, but we want now to focus on the next game, which is always a big challenge and you are always in the middle of a drama.

'It is becoming a farce. We have lost a game. Arsenal has lost games before in history and we will lose again in the future. We will stick together and cope with it and prepare for the next one with complete belief.

'Supporters stand behind the club and we want to fight until the end of the season for every single game. It is nothing to do with confidence. Of course the team have enough confidence.'
