Re: [2018/2019] United Player and Goal of the Month
Antara Pogba atau Rashford nih tampaknya...
CAST YOUR VOTE FOR PLAYER OF THE MONTH After a thrilling month under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it's time to cast your vote for Manchester United's January Player of the Month award. The Reds played six matches in the first month of 2019, with Tuesday's stirring 2-2 draw against Burnley the only occasion on which we failed to triumph. There were numerous outstanding performers during that period as Solskjaer's men scored 12 goals and kept three clean sheets, in a run that saw us overcome rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the Premier League and Emirates FA Cup respectively. But our three contenders are as follows: Victor Lindelof, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford. Read on to see why each deserves your vote... VICTOR LINDELOF - 5 appearances, 1 goal The Swede capped another assured month of performances with his first United goal in the dramatic 2-2 draw with Burnley on Tuesday evening. That moment will have sent the blood pumping round Lindelof's body like few others in his football career, but it's at the other end of the field where his growing influence is most telling. Victor has developed a stable partnership with Phil Jones at the heart of the defence, and has been delighting fans with his calm vision on the ball - which has helped the team get the ball forward quickly and accurately - and the underrated strength of his tackling. Against Newcastle, he could be seen shrugging off aggressive opponents and winning all of his tackles, while at Tottenham, he showed his strength by steaming into Harry Winks with a perfectly timed challenge that left the young midfielder on the deck. It's been a superb sophomore season thus far for the Scandivanian international, who is fast becoming one of United's key players. PAUL POGBA - 5 appearances, 2 goals December's winner of the award has submitted another stellar month as the creative fulcrum of Solskjaer's side. His two goals might only have been spot-kicks, but each was crucial - the first putting United ahead in the tight match against Brighton and the second laying the foundation for the late onslaught that would eke out a point against Burnley. But, if we're really being honest, Paul could have done just one thing this month and it would have surely been enough to earn him a nomination. Yes, we're talking about that pass against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. The only goal of the superb win at Spurs was finished sublimely by Marcus Rashford, but Pogba's glorious, arcing, widescreen pass had the purists purring for days. But the Frenchman is also showing other sides to his football. Against Burnley, he could be seen encouraging and instructing his team-mates to raise the tempo, to press and to get the ball forward more quickly. As the manager said earlier, this month: “He's captain material.” While January didn't feature the midfielder scoring the goals from open play he did last month, we're seeing a greater depth and maturity to his contribution. MARCUS RASHFORD - 4 (2) appearances, 3 goals This month's top scorer has been in blistering form, and his stunning solo effort against Brighton was arguably January's best individual moment. His decisive one-on-one finish at Newcastle made three vital points secure and, a week later, he applied the finish Paul Pogba's sensational assist deserved against Tottenham at Wembley. But Marcus's tireless running, intelligent movement and magical skills have all been essential to the quick, fluid football we've seen under Solskjaer thus far. Factor in his ever-improving, Ronaldo-like free-kicks – which played a crucial role in the month's very first goal, at Newcastle - and it's evident that United have a player that's improving every week. Against Burnley, he showed his willingness to adapt for the team, in his less favoured position of left wing, but Rashford will be delighted with a month that's seen him flourishing as the spearhead of the Reds' attack. Voting will close at 23:59 GMT on Thursday 31 January and the winner will be announced on Saturday. www.manutd.com |

Re: [2018/2019] United Player and Goal of the Month
VOTE FOR UNITED'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH It was a tough call but Manchester United’s Player of the Month shortlist for March 2019 has been selected. After a period spanning the amazing Champions League triumph at Paris Saint-Germain and home wins against Southampton and Watford, strikers Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are joined in the three-man poll by defender Luke Shaw. Chris Smalling, who has been ultra-consistent in defence, was very unlucky to narrowly miss out on selection, while fellow centre-back Victor Lindelof was also considered. Read our summaries of Lukaku, Rashford and Shaw's March contributions before casting your vote, as we wait to discover who will succeed Ander Herrera as the latest recipient of our award. ROMELU LUKAKU – 3 appearances / 4 goals The Belgium international was in unstoppable form at the start of the month, scoring a couple of beauties in the dramatic 3-2 victory over Southampton. The winner was the first time he has found the net from outside the box since joining the Reds. He followed it up with a double in Paris that proved vital in overturning the two-goal deficit from the first leg. Lukaku was unable to add to a tally of six in three games when drawing a blank at Arsenal, when he was only denied by the bar and a fine save by keeper Bernd Leno, and he has not seen any action since due to a foot injury. MARCUS RASHFORD – 5 appearances / 3 goals (1 pen) The Academy product continues to go from strength to strength and, like Lukaku, he was instrumental in the glorious win at PSG. An ambitious shot led to Romelu’s second goal on the night, when Gianluigi Buffon spilled the effort, and he then stepped up to the plate when required to nervelessly drill the late penalty past the World Cup winner and prove his character for the biggest of occasions. The 21-year-old plundered a late consolation in the Emirates FA Cup defeat at Wolves and opened the scoring against Watford last weekend to register double figures in terms of Premier League strikes for the first time in his burgeoning career. All of this has been achieved while nursing an ankle knock sustained in February's draw with Liverpool. LUKE SHAW – 5 appearances / 0 goals The left-back was Man of the Match in our last fixture, shining against Watford and providing a wonderful assist for Rashford’s goal. A sustained spell of impressive performances made him impossible to ignore, including being part of the outstanding defensive display in Paris. Of course, it was also his cross from the left that allowed Rashford to pull the late goal back at Molineux. Luke played well in the victory against his former side Southampton and was one of our better performers in the 2-0 reverse to Arsenal. He is looking to collect the trophy for the third time this term. Voting will close on Tuesday afternoon, with the winner being announced at 17:00 BST on ManUtd.com and in the Manchester United Official App. www.manutd.com |
