Everton CONFIRM the appointment of Duncan Ferguson as caretaker manager for a second time after sacking Rafa Benitez, with club to announce a permanent boss 'in due course'

* Everton confirmed the appointment of Duncan Ferguson as caretaker manager
* The 50-year-old boss oversaw Everton's training session on Tuesday afternoon
* The club are looking for a successor to Rafael Benitez after sacking the Spaniard
* Everton confirmed that Ferguson would be in charge 'for their upcoming games'

Everton have confirmed the appointment of Duncan Ferguson as the club's caretaker manager following the sacking of Rafa Benitez.

Ferguson - who oversaw training on Tuesday morning - will take temporary charge of Everton while the club look for a long-term successor to Benitez.

The Spanish manager was sacked on Sunday morning following the Toffees' dismal 2-1 defeat to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees confirmed in a statement that Ferguson would be in charge 'for the club's upcoming games', starting with the visit of Aston Villa.

It read: 'Duncan Ferguson has been appointed as Everton caretaker manager for the Club’s upcoming games.

'The Blues legend took charge of training at USM Finch Farm on Tuesday morning as the squad began its preparations for the visit of Aston Villa to Goodison Park on Saturday (12.30pm GMT).'

Ferguson will be supported in his new role by John Ebbrell and Leighton Baines, along with Goalkeeping Coach Alan Kelly.

The 50-year-old's appointment marks the second time he has been placed in temporary charge of the club.

Ferguson was named as Everton's caretaker manager in 2019 and guided the club to five points from three league games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Despite announcing the appointment of Ferguson as their caretaker boss once again, Everton will be looking to fill their sixth permanent managerial position since owner Farhad Moshiri took over in 2016.

It has been reported that Wayne Rooney - the former Everton forward currently managing Derby - and ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard are set to be interviewed for the full-time job.

Everton academy product Rooney, who had two spells playing for the club either side of 13 seasons with Manchester United, has been in charge at Derby for just over a year.

The Rams' battle for survival in the Championship this term after being deducted 21 points has seen them take 13 from the last 15 on offer - they are currently eight adrift of safety in 23rd place.

Lampard was Derby's boss for the 2018-19 season, in which they were beaten play-off finalists, before taking charge at Chelsea in the summer that followed. He was sacked in January 2021 and has subsequently been out of work.

The search Benitez's replacement has also seen Roberto Martinez, the Belgium head coach who was in charge at Goodison Park from 2013-2016, be named in the running.

According to reports, Everton were prepared to consider Martinez combining the two roles until at least the summer but it is not a solution on which Belgium have appeared to be keen.

Nevertheless, the club have said that their decision regarding the appointment of a new permanent manager will be made 'in due course'.

Claudio Ranieri is sacked by Watford after just 112 DAYS in charge... with the Italian veteran leaving the Hornets in 19th place having lost 11 of his 14 matches in charge at Vicarage Road

* Watford are targeting their third boss of the season after axing Claudio Ranieri
* Ranieri, 70, has endured a miserable spell since taking charge at Vicarage Road
* The Italian replaced Xisco Munoz but has taken just seven points since October

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Watford following a dismal three-and-a-half months in charge.

The Italian, who leaves the club sat 19th in the Premier League, managed to take just seven points from his time in charge at Vicarage Road.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed on New Year's Eve that the Italian was under increasing pressure at Vicarage Road amid doubts over his suitability as head coach and the decision has now arrived after the 3-0 home defeat to Norwich City.

In a statement, Watford said: 'The Hornets' Board recognises Claudio as a man of great integrity and honour, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his efforts in leading the team with dignity.

'However the Board feels that, with nearly half of the Premier League campaign remaining, a change in the Head Coach position now will give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status.'

The search is now on for their third manager of the season after the Pozzo family, who own Watford, dismissed Xisco Munoz on October 3.

Munoz left Watford 14th in the league but they have been in freefall since Ranieri's arrival.

Ranieri, 70, apologised to fans after the Norwich humbling and he departs having overseen 11 defeats since he replaced Munoz in October.

Watford have sacked manager Claudio Ranieri as they sit 19th in the Premier League table. Watford slid into the relegation zone after a chastening 3-0 defeat at home to Norwich. Ranieri vowed he would not quit but the decision has been taken out of his hands on Monday. Watford owner Gino Pozzo is now on the hunt for a third manager this season

The Italian's team have picked up just one Premier League point from eight games, a stretch that has culminated in the Hornets plunging to 19th place in the table, having played three matches more than bottom club Burnley.

Since beating Manchester United 4-1 in November, a match which cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his job, Watford have only a point against Newcastle to show for their time under Ranieri.

His failed spell at Watford represented his fourth managerial job in England, having been in charge at Chelsea, Fulham and Leicester City, where he miraculously led the Foxes to the 2015-16 Premier League title.

At Fulham he was sacked after just 106 days in charge in 2019, with the west London club ultimately relegated.

There were similar doubts then from a number of Fulham players during his short reign about whether he had the tools to lead a team away from relegation trouble.

Ranieri promised after the Norwich defeat that he would see the job through and he wouldn't walk away - but that decision has now been taken out of his hands.

'No I don't go away, I want to continue because I am a fighter,' the Italian had said when asked about his future.

'I never give up in my career, this is a good team but they must change the mentality, some players have to follow (Moussa) Sissoko and (Tom) Cleverley, the two captains, this is my word.'

On December 31, Sportsmail revealed there was disquiet from inside the Hornets' first-team camp over the Italian's methods just three months into his tenure.

Watford confirm appointment of Roy Hodgson as their new manager - with 74-year-old set for a SEVEN-FIGURE bonus if the relegation-threatened Hornets avoid the drop this season

* Watford have confirmed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as their new manager
* The club sacked Claudio Ranieri on Monday after just 16 weeks in charge
* Hodgson has been out of a job since leaving Crystal Palace last summer
* He will look to help the 19th-placed Hornets escape relegation this season

Roy Hodgson was confirmed as Watford's new manager on Tuesday night, agreeing to take charge of the relegation-threatened club until the end of the season.

Sportsmail understands the 74-year-old will land a seven-figure bonus, on top of what is described as a 'modest' salary, if he can lead the club to Premier League safety.

Hodgson entered Watford's London Colney base on Tuesday morning, in time for the arrival of staff at 11am, to complete the formalities of a six-month contract. His appointment was announced officially at 7pm.

Neither the club nor Hodgson are ruling out extending their agreement into next season but that is a decision which will be made in the summer.

Roy Hodgson has been confirmed as Watford's new manager after replacing Claudio Ranieri. Hodgson will earn a seven-figure bonus if the Hornets, who sit 19th, avoid relegation this term. He will be given the task of keeping Watford up with the club currently in the relegation zone

Watford's players, who are said to be 'buzzing' at Hodgson's appointment, started arriving during the early afternoon for a scheduled 2pm training session, which their new manager is understood to have watched.

A Watford statement read: 'Watford FC is delighted to confirm the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the club’s manager.

'The ex-England national team boss is joined by his trusted assistant Ray Lewington, who managed the Hornets so admirably from 2002 until 2005.

'Hodgson and Lewington begin preparations immediately for Watford’s next Premier League fixture; away to Burnley on Saturday February 5.

'Welcome to Watford, Roy. And welcome back, Ray!'

Hodgson replaces Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked on Monday after a dismal run capped by a 3-0 home defeat by relegation rivals Norwich.

Upon his departure, the Italian said on Monday: 'Good luck to everybody, Watford, the fans, the board — that's football but I believe with these new players Watford can be safe.

'A fantastic manager is arriving. I wish them all the best.'

Frank Lampard is finally confirmed as Everton's new manager on a two-and-a-half year contract to replace Rafa Benitez, as the former Chelsea boss admits he's 'hungry' to succeed at Goodison Park after a year out of work

* Everton have unveiled Frank Lampard as their new boss after days of speculation
* The ex-Chelsea boss has signed a two-and-a-half contract to become manager
* Lampard was driven into Finch Farm and will take his first training session today
* The ex-England international beat Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson to the job
* Joe Edwards, Paul Clement and Chris Jones will form Lampard's backroom team

Everton's new era has officially begun after Frank Lampard was confirmed as their new manager on Monday afternoon.

Lampard, who arrived at their Finch Farm training base in the morning, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Goodison Park.

The 43-year-old replaces Rafael Benitez who was sacked by the Toffees a fortnight ago after a run of one win in 13 matches.

Upon joining Lampard said: 'It is a huge honour for me to represent and manage a club the size and tradition of Everton Football Club.

Frank Lampard has been named as Everton's new manager, signing a two-and-a-half year deal. The former Chelsea boss has penned a contract to replace Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park

'I'm very hungry to get started. After speaking to the owner, Chairman and the Board, I very much felt their passion and ambition. I hope they felt my ambition and how hard I want to work to bring it together.

'You can feel the passion Everton fans have for their club. That will be hugely important. As a team - the competitive level that the Premier League brings and the position we are in the table - we certainly need that. It's a two-way thing.

'I think Everton is a unique club in that you can really understand what the fans want to see. The first thing they want is fight and desire and that must always be our baseline.

'My first message to the players will be that we have to do this together. We'll try to do our job and I know the fans will be there backing us.'

The former England star is pictured at the club's Finch Farm training base on Monday morning

Everton have taken their time to find the right successor with Lampard, Vitor Pereira and caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson all having had second interviews with the club's hierarchy on Friday, before they then deciding on the former England international.

He will take training for the first time at 3pm today as he prepares his side for a fourth round FA Cup tie with Brentford on Saturday.

He has assembled a backroom staff comprised of Joe Edwards as his assistant manager, Paul Clement as first team coach and Chris Jones as first team coach and head of performance.

Ferguson, who took charge of the first team for their 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa after Benitez's sacking, will also remain on Lampard's staff along with goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly.

Everton 's owner Farhad Moshiri, said: 'I am really delighted that Frank has joined us. He is an impressive young man and off the pitch.

'He has played at the very highest level of the game and has football in his blood. He impressed us all greatly during the thorough interview process and we're all ready to give him all of our support as he looks to give the team an immediate boost.

Meanwhile chairman Bill Kenwright added: 'Frank impressed us greatly throughout our process, coming across as a modern, ambitious and exciting young manager. He expressed a clear vision on how he wants to take the club forward and, importantly, a tremendous passion and genuine enthusiasm to join us.

'I'm sure Evertonians will give him the special welcome that only they can and will be looking forward to giving him and his coaching staff a warm Goodison welcome next weekend.'

It is Lampard's first job since being sacked by Chelsea a year ago, following a mixed spell in charge of the club he appeared 648 times for as a player.

He took over at Stamford Bridge in July 2019 with the Blues in the midst of a transfer ban and integrated several young players into the side such as Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham as Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final in his debut campaign.

However, Lampard found the second season more difficult and was sacked in January 2021 after a run of five defeats in eight games which had left the club ninth in the table.

The 43-year-old's only other previous job came at Derby County, who he led to the Championship play-off final in the 2018-19 season.

Lampard takes over at Goodison Park with Everton currently 16th in the Premier League table and only four points above the relegation zone.

Former Porto and Fenerbahce boss Pereira emerged as the leading candidate to be Benitez's replacement earlier this week, but a hostile fan reaction to his potential appointment led majority owner Moshiri to have a rethink.

Former Everton striker Wayne Rooney, an international team-mate to Lampard, revealed on Friday that he had turned down the opportunity to interview for the role.

Lampard's first game in charge will be the FA Cup fourth round tie at home against Brentford on February 5, before a crucial Premier League fixture away at relegation rivals Newcastle United follows three days later.

The 43-year-old began work on transfers over the weekend despite not being officially announced by the club, with Donny van de Beek set to become his first signing.

The out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder is close to joining on loan for the rest of the season, with Everton paying a fee in excess of £500,000 and his £100,000-a-week wages in full.

Van de Beek is undergoing a medical on Merseyside but will not be able to feature against Brentford this weekend because he is cup-tied.

Marcelo Bielsa SACKED by Leeds with team hovering just two points outside the Premier League relegation zone... as club praise his 'huge impact' and announcement on successor will be made on Monday - with Jesse Marsch in contention to take over

* Marcelo Bielsa leaves Leeds after three-and-a-half years in charge at Elland Road
* The Argentine led the club back to the Premier League after a 16-year absence
* Bielsa, 66, joined in June 2018 and quickly cemented himself as a fan favourite
* Under his tenure, Leeds played free-flowing and entertaining but open football
* He leaves after a poor run, with just one point gained from the last 18 available
* Leeds lie two points above the relegation zone and are in danger of going down

Marcelo Bielsa has left Leeds United after three-and-a-half years in charge.

The Argentine departs after a poor run of form, with just one point gained from the last 18 on offer, and with the side in 16th, two points above the Premier League relegation zone and in serious danger of going down.

Former RB Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch is in contention to replace Bielsa - the highest-paid manager in the club's history - at Elland Road, with the club aiming to make an announcement on his successor on Monday.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa (pictured) has left Leeds United after three-and-a-half years in charge. Leeds have conceded 20 goals in their last four games and taken one point from the last 18. A 4-0 home defeat against Tottenham proved to be the last straw for the 66-year-old Argentine

Bielsa was a fan favourite after leading Leeds back to the Premier League after 16 years away. But supporters became frustrated in recent weeks given the side's awful run of form

A club statement on Sunday confirmed Leeds have parted company with Bielsa after 'this season has proved to be difficult', with just five wins this campaign.

Chairman Andrea Radrizzani said: 'This has been the toughest decision I have had to make during my tenure, taking into account all the success Marcelo has had at the club. With Marcelo as our head coach, we had three incredible campaigns and the good times returned to Elland Road.

'He changed the culture of the club and brought a winning mentality to us all. The moments created, particularly in the 2019-20 season and winning promotion to the Premier League, will of course live long in all our memories, myself and the fans included.

'However, I have to act in the best interest of the club and I believe a change is required now in order to secure our Premier League status. Recent results and performances have not met our expectations.

'We find ourselves in a precarious league position and I feel now is the right time to bring in a new head coach, in order to have an impact in the decisive stage of the season. Naturally, myself, along with everyone else at the club would like to thank Marcelo for his efforts and achievements and we wish him the very best for the future.'

Director of football Victor Orta added: 'Since arriving at Leeds United Marcelo had a huge impact on the club, on a scale I have not seen before.

'He has created a legacy, overseeing major infrastructure improvements at Thorp Arch, uniting the supporters and the players, and giving a clear pathway for young players to transition into the first team.

'It is disappointing his reign has had to end in this manner, given the special times we have enjoyed in recent years, which have been some of the best in my career, but we cannot hide from recent results. I would like to thank Marcelo for his commitment and dedication, and I wish him every success going forwards.'

Striker Patrick Bamford tweeted: 'Thank you. The man who changed everything for everyone'.

The club lie in 16th, just two points above the relegation zone and are in danger of going down. Leeds are just the second Premier League side to concede three or more in five straight games

The 66-year-old was appointed in June 2018 after Paul Heckingbottom's sacking, and has led the club for more than three full seasons, ending a run of eight managers in the previous three-and-a-half years.

His 140-match tenure marks him as the second-longest serving manager, behind Simon Grayson (169), since David O'Leary's stint at the turn of the millennium.

Moreover, his record of 74 wins, 24 draws and 42 losses leaves him with a win percentage of 52.86 - the second-highest in history among Leeds managers with more than five games - narrowly behind legendary figure Don Revie (53.24).

Despite the physical rigours of the Championship, his side played free-flowing, attacking, entertaining football, winning plaudits from neutrals for their wholehearted and swashbuckling style of play, often relying on young players and integrating several academy youngsters into the first-team.

Bielsa was criticised after 'Spygate', where he admitted sending a man to watch rival Derby's training sessions - he personally paid the £200,000 fine - but won the 2019 FIFA Fair Play Award after letting Aston Villa walk the ball in when his side had scored a controversial goal, thus resulting in Leeds missing out on automatic promotion.

Upon promotion back to the top-flight, a street in Leeds city centre was renamed 'Marcelo Bielsa Way', and he was named LMA Championship Manager of the Year and came third in the Best FIFA Football Coach award for his achievements.

In his first season in the Premier League, his side finished ninth, gaining more points and scoring more goals than any other promoted side for 20 years.

However, this season Leeds have struggled, with injuries to key players like captain Liam Cooper plus England internationals Kalvin Phillips and Bamford - arguably their best defender, midfielder and forward respectively - and Covid-19 absences hitting the club hard.

The Whites have not won since a 3-2 victory against West Ham on January 16, and have conceded 20 goals in the last five matches, four per game, with the side looking jaded and seemingly incapable of stopping the opposition from scoring.

The enigmatic, eccentric boss, well known for his pithy and forthright press conferences in Spanish, aided by translator Andres Clavijo, pioneered the unusual 3-3-3-1 formation and was described by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as the best in the world.

But a 4-0 home defeat by Antonio Conte's Tottenham, with Leeds put to the sword by Harry Kane and Son Heung-min on Saturday, eventually proved the final straw.

Leeds United confirm appointment of former RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch as Marcelo Bielsa's successor... and ex-USA international will be tasked with steering Premier League strugglers to safety as they hover above drop zone

* Leeds sacked Marcelo Bielsa after three-and-a-half years amid awful run of form
* Former RB Leipzig boss and USA international Jesse Marsch is his replacement
* Marsch has managed New York Red Bulls, RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig
* He lasted just 21 games at Leipzig before leaving by mutual consent in December

Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of new head coach Jesse Marsch, with the American vowing to win over supporters ‘even if they don’t like my accent’.

The 48-year-old replaces the popular Marcelo Bielsa, who was sacked on Sunday with the team two points above the relegation zone.

Marsch, who lasted only 21 games in his last job at RB Leipzig this season, will take charge of Leeds for the first time at Leicester on Saturday.

He said: ‘I have a lot to prove to our fanbase that I’m the right guy to follow such a hero like Marcelo Bielsa.

Former RB Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch has been appointed as Leeds United's new boss

‘I think the key is, if they see the team play with passion and heart and show they are clear with the playing model and are aggressive, then I think the fans will tolerate the coach, even if they don’t like his accent or he’s not as popular as the previous coach.

‘Over time, I’ve always found that I’ve had an incredibly passionate and well-connected relationship with the fanbase.’

Director of football Victor Orta, who pushed for Marsch’s appointment, said: ‘Jesse is someone we identified a number of years ago during his time at Red Bull Salzburg and we believe his philosophy and style of football aligns with that of the club and will suit the players very well.

‘We have a long-term plan and firmly believe he can take Leeds United to the next level and are excited for what the future holds.’

The two-cap former USA international, 48, has had jobs in the Red Bull programme since 2015, first taking charge at New York Red Bulls, before spells in Europe with RB Salzburg and most recently RB Leipzig.

He won back-to-back Austrian Bundesliga titles with Salzburg, but lasted just 21 games at Leipzig after replacing Julian Nagelsmann at the helm.

Marsch won eight, drew four and lost nine in the dugout at the club, before he and the club mutually agreed to part ways in December.

He has been out of work for the two months since, which will likely have been a contributing factor to his appointment at Leeds, given the club will not have needed to pay any compensation to secure his signature.

There are, though, some concerns from fans at his lack of experience in English football. He will be thrown into a relegation battle with Leeds having never played or managed in the Premier League, or the lower divisions.

Leeds have a vital run of fixtures over the next couple of months, with no games against the so-called 'Big Six' until the visit of Chelsea on April 16.

Leicester, Aston Villa and Norwich are their next three games, and Marsch will be desperate to pick up some points and extend the gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

As it stands, they are 16th in the table but only two points ahead of 18th-placed Burnley and the dreaded drop zone.

Everton and Burnley below them both have two games in hand, meaning Leeds could easily find themselves occupying a spot in the bottom three in the coming days and weeks.

Bielsa bid farewell to his players after the defeat by Spurs on Saturday, and there were plenty of gushing messages to the squad for their outgoing boss.

Star striker Patrick Bamford and captain Liam Cooper led the emotional tributes, with the latter posting: 'You united a club, a city & a team going nowhere. I will be forever grateful for everything you and your staff did for me and my family. A club legend of our era. Gracias Marcelo,' followed by a white heart.

Bamford posted on Instagram with the caption: 'Thank you. The man who changed everything for everyone'.

Kalvin Phillips said: 'Thank you Marcelo for everything you have done for me. You saw in me what I didn't even see in myself. You helped me grow as a player but most importantly as a person. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter. Gracias Marcelo Vamos Leeds!!'

Defender Pascal Struijk added: 'Thank you for everything Marcelo, in these past 4 years you've helped me grow into the player I am now. You have taught me so much and I will cherish that forever'.

With just one point picked up from a possible 18 in recent weeks, the writing was on the wall for Bielsa, despite his heroic work at Elland Road.

All eyes will now be on Marsch to see if he can pick up the pieces and guide Leeds to safety, and another season in the Premier League.

Scott Parker is SACKED by Bournemouth in a row over begging for transfers and his lack of 'respect', just four games into the season and three days after 9-0 Liverpool embarrassment

* Scott Parker has been sacked by Bournemouth after just four games of season
* He becomes the first manager since 2004 to be sacked in August in top flight
* The club meanwhile sit 17th in the table with one victory and three defeats
* Gary O'Neil - who was part of Parker's backroom staff - has taken interim charge

Bournemouth have announced they have sacked manager Scott Parker just three days after they were hammered 9-0 by Liverpool, and accused him of showing a lack of respect towards the club.

Parker has voiced his frustrations with Bournemouth's activity in the transfer market this summer, insisting his young team are 'underequipped' to take on the challenges of the Premier League after earning promotion last season.

The club meanwhile sit 17th in the Premier League table, with the thrashing by the Reds following 3-0 and 4-0 reverses by Arsenal and Man City after their opening-weekend win against Aston Villa.

The ex-Fulham boss said after the humiliation at Anfield there were 'millions of reasons' why the squad had not been strengthened to his liking.

Bournemouth accused Scott Parker of showing a lack of respect after announcing his sacking. Parker said they were underequipped for the top flight and oversaw three defeats from four

And now that frustration has boiled over with the 41-year-old leaving the Vitality Stadium and becoming the first top-flight managerial casualty of the new campaign just four games in.

Bournemouth owner Maxim Demin however said: 'I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us.

'Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history.

'However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another.

'That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.'

Gary O'Neil - who was part of Parker's backroom staff - has taken interim charge and will be assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick.

Bournemouth's results of one win and three defeats this season leaves them just a point above the relegation zone.

Their latest defeat came in humiliating fashion, as they were thrashed 9-0 by Liverpool. Gary O'Neil - who was part of Parker's backroom staff - has taken interim charge

The Cherries will not have much time to dwell on Parker's departure though, with the visit of Wolves up next for them on Wednesday night.

Parker took charge at Bournemouth last summer after leaving Fulham, who had just been relegated to the Championship.

The former midfielder then guided Bournemouth back into the top flight following a two-year absence in his first season, finishing second in the Championship table behind the Whites.

He has now become the first August sacking since Sir Bobby Robson in 2004 and departs having experienced what he described as the worst day of his career at Anfield on Saturday.

In his final post-match press conference as Cherries boss, he said: 'It is pretty shell-shocking in terms of the result. The quality (of Liverpool) was far greater in terms of what we have. We can't be making an excuse.

'There were some goals that were of our own doing. Some of the set-play goals were really poor, I feel sorry for the fans, sorry for the players.

'We are just a bit underequipped from where we have come from. It doesn't shine a light for me because from the summer that is exactly how I see it.

'There are players in this team of huge quality but the levels of what they have gone up to, it is the first time they are experiencing this league.

'We are where we are. While I never thought we could come here and get beat 9-0, I expected this season would be a real challenge for us in certain moments and games. It is a young team at this level.'

Parker added: 'This is the toughest day I have had, as a player and certainly as a coach. This is the toughest day I have experienced for sure. The touchline today was pretty painful and I could sense it was painful for the players as well. They need some help.'

Thomas Tuchel is SACKED by Chelsea, just 100 days into ruthless Todd Boehly's ownership, after players lost faith in him - and now Graham Potter is lined up to take the job

* Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel following defeat in the Champions League
* New controlling owner Todd Boehly has wasted no time in ousting the German
* Chelsea have permission to speak to Graham Potter, their No 1 manager choice
* Mauricio Pochettino is also high on Chelsea’s list of candidates to replace Tuchel
* Tuchel has been sacked after 100 games in charge of Chelsea, winning 62

Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by Chelsea following their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

New owner Todd Boehly has wasted no time in binning the German coach just seven games into the season, and 100 days into his reign since replacing Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League and have made a miserable start to their Champions League campaign, with Tuchel disposed hours after their humbling 1-0 loss in Croatia, his 100th match in charge.

Sportsmail revealed that Tuchel is being paid £13million as a severance package, with a further £2m going to his backroom staff.

In a statement Chelsea wrote: 'On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.

'Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea's history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

'As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.'

Sportsmail understands Chelsea have been given permission to speak to Brighton boss Graham Potter, their No 1 target, while out-of-work Mauricio Pochettino is also under consideration.

Chelsea added that they will move 'swiftly' to appoint a new manager and Tuchel's coaching staff will take charge of the team in the interim.

The Telegraph report that Tuchel's relationship with certain players had 'deteriorated' which led to the decision to oust him. Anthony Barry is in line to be the leading figure until a new boss arrives.

Boehly and fellow co-owner Behdad Eghbali were seen in attendance at the Stadion Maksimir to watch the defeat in Zagreb.

Tuchel leaves having guided Chelsea to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup glory.

Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2021 to replace Frank Lampard and hit the ground running by winning the Champions League in six months.

Last season Chelsea reached the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals, only to lose to Liverpool on both occasions. They also finished third in the Premier League.

Graham Potter (left) and Mauricio Pochettino (right) are both early contenders to fill the role

Tuchel cut a disconsolate figure as Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday. Stats and insight provided by sofascore.com

In his first 50 games they only conceded 24 goals and Tuchel was heralded for the impact he made.

In a bid to bridge the gap to champions Manchester City and Liverpool, Chelsea's new ownership invested heavily in the summer, a record spend in one window for a Premier League club at more than £260million.

Wesley Fofana arrived from Leicester, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came in from Barcelona, while Raheem Sterling was the marquee first signing from Manchester City.

Aubameyang in particular spoke openly about the importance of Tuchel in his decision to join Chelsea, having worked under him previously at Borussia Dortmund.

'It will be an honour and a joy again [to play with Tuchel], we had some good times in Dortmund together so I am really happy to play for him again,' the striker said only a week ago.

'We will achieve some big things, I am sure of this and I will try to help the team.'

But Chelsea have made a stuttering start ahead of Saturday's match against Fulham having already lost three times this season, all away from home at Southampton, Leeds and on Tuesday in Zagreb.

In his last 50 games they have conceded 53 goals, a sign of the breakdown defensively which is hampering their trophy prospects.

The sacking of Tuchel has caught some by surprise given he publicly claimed that negotiations were ongoing for a contract extension just last month.

'There are talks,' he said.

'But I think given the situation where we come from, and where we are in the middle of the transfer period, I think it is the very best if I focus on my team and on sports and on being competitive.

'My people talk to the owners and take care of everything else. You know how glad I am to be here and how much I like it. So it's a good thing.'

THOMAS TUCHEL'S FINAL INTERVIEW AS CHELSEA BOSS

'I'm angry with myself and I'm angry with our performance. I'm angry with myself because I did not see it coming.

'Obviously I was in the wrong movie.

'I thought that the last game helped us. I thought we showed a reaction in a very difficult moment against West Ham, got the reaction, got the result in the moments when you need a bit of luck in the situation we were in.

'We had good training sessions, I thought the team was prepared, I thought we know what this is all about. I didn't see it coming, that's why I'm angry with myself.

'There is too much to analyse - I'm a part of it. We're clearly not there where we need to be and where we can be, so it's on me it's on us.

'At the moment everything is missing.

'This is a huge underperformance from all of us. It's not precise enough, not clinical enough, not aggressive enough.

'It's not determined enough and not enough as a team and that's why we lost.

'It's for me to find the solution and find the reason why.

'Obviously [players] are underperforming individually and I don't really know where this performance comes from.

'A lack of determination, a lack of hunger and a lack of intensity to do the things we need at the highest level.

'We are clearly not where we want to be. We expected what we got. It was the same story of the last few games - we start OK for 15-20 minutes but then lacked determination, precision and maybe even lacked the smell of blood.

'We need to be much better. We are not finished, we are not happy with our results, we are not happy with the way we play in general, but I thought we were on a good way. I'm surprised by this performance.'

From Sassuolo and Shakhtar... to the seaside! Brighton confirm appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as head coach with the Italian succeeding Graham Potter, after he left to take over at Chelsea

* Brighton have officially appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach
* De Zerbi replaces Graham Potter, who recently left to take charge of Chelsea
* 43-year-old De Zerbi was previously the manager of Shakhtar Donetsk

Brighton have appointed Roberto de Zerbi as their new manager, replacing Graham Potter, who left for Chelsea last week.

The 43-year-old Italian has signed a four-year deal and will have time to work with the players during the international break.

Chairman Tony Bloom said: 'I am absolutely thrilled Roberto has agreed to become our new head coach. Roberto's teams play an exciting and courageous brand of football and I am confident his style and tactical approach will suit our existing squad superbly.'

De Zerbi flew into Sussex on Friday night and watched a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Amex on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton had been wary of the appointment being hijacked by Juventus, because the Italian giants are considering sacking Max Allegri.

Juve have won just twice all season and not once this month, leaving Allegri under mounting scrutiny. He suffered another setback on Sunday when Juventus lost to bottom-of-the-table Monza, ramping up the pressure on their boss, with Juventus assessing their options.

Brighton have confirmed the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach. De Zerbi replaces Graham Potter, who recently left Brighton to become manager of Chelsea. As well as managing Shakhtar, De Zerbi also had a spell in charge of Italian club Sassuolo

So Brighton moved quickly to secure the services of De Zerbi and announced his appointment on Sunday night.

De Zerbi's last club was Shakhtar Donetsk, whom he left in July —after just over a year at the helm, including a Super Cup victory and 20 wins in 30 games — due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Before Shakhtar, De Zerbi impressed at Sassuolo, earning admiration for his style of play and tactical awareness — leading them to successive eighth-place finishes.

De Zerbi was also manager of Foggia, Palermo and Benevento, before his breakthrough success at Sassuolo from 2018-21.

Brighton had been looking for a new manager since Potter was prised away by Chelsea to replace the sacked Thomas Tuchel.

Former Brighton captain Andrew Crofts was named interim first-team manager with current player Adam Lallana part of the coaching staff.

The cancellation of Brighton's two games since Potter's departure denied them the chance to take charge of the side in the Premier League, but gave chairman Bloom breathing space to secure De Zerbi.

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is the bookies' clear favourite to get sacked next after a MISERABLE run following their £150m summer splurge - with Ralph Hasenhuttl, Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard also in the running

* Bruno Lage was sacked by Wolves following Saturday's defeat by West Ham
* Lage became the third Premier League manager to be sacked this season
* He follows Scott Park and Thomas Tuchel, dismissed by Fulham and Chelsea
* A number of other managers are already under pressure after eight games

We are just eight games into the Premier League season and already three managers have lost their jobs.

Wolves boss Bruno Lage became the third managerial casualty of the campaign at the weekend following his side's 2-0 defeat to West Ham, a result which left them lying in the relegation zone.

The Portuguese managed a 10th-placed finish in his first season in charge but had won just one of their last 15 Premier League matches.

Before Lage, Bournemouth and Chelsea had already taken the decisions to sack Scott Parker and Thomas Tuchel, respectively.

Quote:
MANAGER MOST LIKELY TO GO NEXT

Steve Cooper 1/5

Ralph Hasenhuttl 8/1

Brendan Rodgers 10/1

Steven Gerrard 12/1

Forest boss Steve Cooper (L) is favourite to get sacked next ahead of Ralph Hasenhuttl (R). The bookmakers also reckon Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard are under threat

And it's highly unlikely that more managers won't be shown the door this season.

Oddschecker currently make Nottingham Forest's Steve Cooper the clear betting favourite to leave his post next with odds of 1/5.

Forest have made a dire start to the season, sitting bottom of the table with just four points from their opening eight games.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is next at 8/1 while Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is 10/1.

Hassenhutl's Saints are on a run of three straight defeats while the Foxes had just one point prior to Monday's big win over Forest.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa's Steven Gerrard is in no position to rest on his laurels with odds of 12/1 that he is next to be shown the door.

Villa have underwhelmed so far with eight points from eight games, scoring just six goals.

selanjutnya sepertinya Steve Cooper, sudah beli 20an pemain dan menjadi rekor tapi sekarang ada didasar klasemen
