Re: [2019/20] Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) matches
Manchester United handed dream draw against Colchester in Carabao Cup quarter-finals while Liverpool face Aston Villa and Everton host Leicester
* The draw for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals was made on Thursday morning * Manchester United were handed a dream draw against League Two Colchester * Man City were also given weaker opposition in League One Oxford United * Elswhere, Liverpool will travel to Aston Villa and Everton host in-form Leicester Manchester United have been handed a dream draw against League Two side Colchester in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side made it through to the last eight with a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday and will now welcome the lowest-ranked team left in the competition to Old Trafford. There will also be two all-Premier League ties as Liverpool travel to Aston Villa and Everton welcome Leicester to Goodison Park. Manchester United have been drawn to play Colchester in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Colchester got the better of Crawley Town in the last-16 and have now been rewarded Elsewhere, League One side Oxford United will play defending champions Manchester City as they chase a third successive League Cup success. Liverpool booked their place in the next round with a thrilling penalty shootout win over Arsenal at Anfield. Divock Origi scored an equaliser to make it 5-5 in the final seconds of added time before Dani Ceballos missed a crucial spot kick and Curtis Jones converted his to send the Reds through. They will travel to Villa Park after Dean Smith's side managed to overcome fellow Premier League outfit Wolves on Wednesday. Ties are expected to be played during the week commencing December 16 but it remains to be seen if Liverpool's schedule can be adjusted to fit in the trip to Villa. Quote:
Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has warned the club would forfeit the second domestic cup competition if a suitable compromise is not found. When asked if he was worried about the fixture clashes, Klopp said: 'I'm not concerned – somebody else has to be concerned because we didn't make the fixture list, we didn't make the schedule. I've said it already, FIFA told us the Club World Cup will be there and we have to come there. We will do. 'The Premier League tells us we have to play in the Premier League, which we do obviously. The Carabao Cup, what we did against Arsenal, if they don't find an appropriate place for us – not 3am on Christmas Day – then we don't play it. They have to make that decision. 'You have to think about these things. If you have a fixture list where one team cannot be part of all the games, then you have to think about the fixture list. Hopefully it starts now. I really think that's fair and this problem is obvious now.' Everton face a tough test in the quarter-finals as they host in-form Leicester. The Toffees overcame struggling Watford 2-0 on Tuesday while Leicester managed to avoid a banana skin by beating Burton Albion 3-1. City's chase for a hat-trick of League Cup titles couldn't have been given a bigger boost after they drew Oxford United. Pep Guardiola's side proved too strong for Southampton in midweek and have been rewarded with a trip to the Kassam Stadium. Karl Robinson's side made it through to the quarter-finals by overcoming Sunderland on penalties on Tuesday. Code:
