Manchester - Diogo Dalot dan Fred sudah resmi gabung Manchester United. Berikut gambaran nomor-nomor punggung di MU yang masih lowong untuk para rekrutan baru.

Fred, yang merupakan seorang pemain tengah, diprediksi bisa saja memakai nomor punggung 16 menyusul kepindahannya dari Shakhtar Donetsk.

Dalam catatan Manchester Evening News, sebelum ini nomor punggung tersebut digunakan oleh Michael Carrick selama 12 tahun sebelum pensiun. Mantan kapten Roy Keane memakai nomor 16 untuk periode waktu yang sama dalam kariernya di MU.

Dalot, seorang full-back, bisa pakai nomor 22. Nomor itu di antaranya juga pernah dipakai John O'Shea, Paul Scholes selama 18 bulan saat sempat balik dari pensiun pada Januari 2012, dan Henrikh Mkhitaryan selama 1,5 tahun di MU.

Jika menilik rumor mengenai ketertarikan MU terhadap Willian, patut diingat pula bahwa nomor 22 dipakai olehnya di Chelsea. Ada kemungkinan ia bakal diserahi nomor itu jika benar-benar reuni dengan Jose Mourinho musim panas ini.

Nomor punggung 10 MU saat ini juga masih lowong seiring hijrahnya Zlatan Ibrahimovic, yang sempat menggunakan nomor itu pada musim keduanya bersama The Red Devils. Sebelumnya nomor tersebut dikenakan oleh Wayne Rooney.

Ada pula nomor punggung 13 yang masih lowong semenjak kali terakhir digunakan oleh Anders Lindegaard, yang pindah ke West Brom pada 2015.

Nomor lowong lain di antaranya 26, 28, dan 30 sepeninggal Shinji Kagawa, Morgan Schneiderlin, dan Guillermo Varela dalam periode beberapa musim terakhir. Kemungkinan hijrahnya Daley Blind dan Matteo Darmian juga bisa membuat nomor 17 dan 36 lowong.

UNITED REVEAL SQUAD NUMBERS FOR 2018/19

Manchester United have confirmed the squad numbers for the 2018/19 Premier League season, including those for our summer signings and switches for two existing first-team members.

Defensive acquisition Diogo Dalot takes the no.20 shirt, meaning Sergio Romero moves to no.22. His fellow goalkeeper Lee Grant will wear no.13.

Marcos Rojo has moved from no.5 to no.16, while squad numbers have also been allocated to four of the youngsters who were part of United’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Tahith Chong takes no.44, Joshua Bohui is no.46, Angel Gomes retains the no.47 shirt he has worn in his two senior appearances so far and Ethan Hamilton will wear no.48.

Two of our Under-23s goalkeepers, Kieran O’Hara and Matej Kovar, have been given no.45 and no.51 respectively.

Manchester United have released their squad numbers for the new season with the No 5 shirt, vacated by Marcos Rojo, hinting at a defensive arrival in January.

Boss Jose Mourinho was left exasperated as the club failed to land him a new centre back this summer despite pursuits of Jerome Boateng, Harry Maguire, Diego Godin and Toby Alderweireld.

Rojo's switch, while appearing to be a deadline-day dig over lack of new faces, is likely to have been a personal choice given he wears No 16 for Argentina.

Previously the number has been taken by midfielder Michael Carrick but following his retirement and move on to the coaching staff, the number has been freed up.

Matteo Darmian, who could still leave the club before the end of the month, was originally left out of the original list but it appears to have been a clerical error as he was later added.

The Italian could feature in Friday night's opening league game with fitness concerns over new arrival Diogo Dalot and veteran Antonio Valencia.

Darmian has been mooted with a return to Serie A for the majority of the summer with Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli all believed to be interested but United now have no reason to sell unless the price is right.

New right back Dalot takes the No 20 shirt, meaning back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero moves to No 22. Third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant will wear No 13.

Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah both left on loan in the summer window but still received an allocated number as they took No 38 and No 24 respectively.
