Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of Anthony Martial as they get set to host Tottenham on Wednesday night.

The French forward was withdrawn late on in Sunday's draw with Aston Villa and is struggling with a muscular problem, according to Sky Sports News.

Martial has been limited to only 12 appearances this season and missed two months with a hamstring issue.

He has started each of United's last six Premier League games, returning from the bench in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool in October.

His absence could lead to a tactical adjustment from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, moving to three at the back for the return of Jose Mourinho to Old Trafford.

Daniel James and Marcus Rashford could be used as the forwards in a 3-5-2 that would see Axel Tuanzebe acting as a third centre-back alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

After netting in the opening two games of the season, Martial has scored just once in the Premier League since - in the 3-1 away win at Norwich.

United will also be without Paul Pogba, who has been recovering from a foot injury.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: 'No. Paul's not ready, no.

'He's still a bit away but he's working hard so let's see. He's out on the grass, so let's see how long it will take.'
