Record-breaker Ronaldo! Portuguese superstar becomes the first player in history to score 700 CLUB GOALS - as forward reaches stunning milestone during Manchester United's Premier League clash at Everton

* Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 700 club goals in an extraordinary career
* Portuguese star came off the bench to fire Manchester United ahead at Everton
* Ronaldo slotted home following Casemiro through ball for 2-1 half-time lead
* He had come on to replace Anthony Martial who departed injured 29 minutes in

Cristiano Ronaldo may not be having the season he envisaged but he continues to make history after scoring the 700th club goal of his illustrious career on Sunday evening.

The Portuguese superstar achieved the milestone in action for Manchester United during their Premier League clash at Everton.

In doing so, the 37-year-old becomes the first player ever in footballing history to plunder in that many career goals.

Goodison Park didn't look like being the venue for his milestone strike after Ronaldo once again started on the bench for Erik ten Hag's side.

But he replaced the injured Anthony Martial just 29 minutes in before making his mark a minute before the break.

Casemiro, who was at fault for the opening goal for Everton, made amends after robbing Alex Iwobi of the ball and playing a delightful through ball for the Portuguese maestro.

After cantering into the box, he held off pressure from Conor Coady before slotting in a sweet strike into Jordan Pickford's bottom corner at the near post.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first footballer ever in history to score 700 career club goals

Ronaldo's goal was also perfect timing for his side who had responded well after falling behind to an Alex Iwobi strike after five minutes, with Antony equalising soon after.

Ronaldo has played for four clubs during his career - Sporting Lisbon, United (twice), Real Madrid and Juventus.

He scored five goals in 31 appearances for Sporting, 450 in 438 matches for Real and 101 in 134 games for Juventus. In his first spell for United he netted 118 times in 298 fixtures for the club and in his current second stint has 26 in 48 matches .

It's the latest stunning achievement in the forward's career - either individually or as part of a team.

Ronaldo broke the record for the most goals in men's international football last September. The legendary Portugal star celebrated in trademark fashion after scoring against Ireland. The 37-year-old broke Ali Daei's record of 109 goals for Iran between 1993 and 2006

On the international stage, Ronaldo has scored a world record 117 goals in 191 international games since making his Portugal debut in 2003.

The iconic No 7 broke that record when he scored twice for his country in a 2-1 win against the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup qualifier on September 1, 2021.

Prior to Ronaldo, the most goals scored by a male on the international stage was Iran legend Ali Daei who netted 109 times in 148 appearances.

Cristiano Ronaldo poses with the ENTIRE Manchester United squad and holds up commemorative shirt next to golden balloons to celebrate his record 700th goal at club level after winner against Everton

* Man United have offered Cristiano Ronaldo congratulations after his 700th goal
* The forward reached the landmark with the winner against Everton on Sunday
* And United arranged for the Portuguese to pose with the whole Red Devils squad
* The Premier League side presented him with a special shirt and gold balloons

Cristiano Ronaldo was presented with a special shirt to commemorate his 700th goal at club level by Manchester United.

The Portuguese reached the record, historic landmark with the winning goal in a 2-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday night.

And after the game, Ronaldo was given a shirt with his name and the number 700 instead of his usual No 7, with big golden balloons spelling out '700' in the background as the entire squad posed together with him.

United's official account tweeted a photo of the squad with the simple caption: 'Congratulations, @Cristiano — from everyone at United #MUFC .'

Manchester United have presented Cristiano Ronaldo with a commemorative '700' shirt. Ronaldo scored the 700th goal of his club career in a 2-1 win against Everton on Monday night

Ronaldo had posted earlier on Monday afternoon saying: 'What a beautiful number we've achieved together! Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, clubs, family & friends and of course my fans. United we continue,' followed by a praying emoji.

The tweet included a graphic showing Ronaldo representing the four clubs of his senior career: Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid, Juventus and United.

Ronaldo's goal was just his second of the season - and his first in the Premier League - after scoring a penalty against Moldovan minnows Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League on September 15, nearly a month ago.

After the match, Toffees boss Frank Lampard heaped praise on the 37-year-old, saying: 'It is outstanding. He is one of the greatest players that has graced the game, ever, in an era when we have had himself and Lionel Messi.

Everton boss Frank Lampard praised the 37-year-old striker as 'one of the greatest ever'. Pundit and United icon Rio Ferdinand praised Ronaldo for his record-breaking performance

'The comparison between them doesn't matter; they are both incredible players in football history.

'The numbers they have racked up, abnormal numbers that have become normal. When he was on 699, I wanted him to score in the Europa League (against Omonia Nicosia) the other night but it wasn't to be.'

Pundit and United legend Rio Ferdinand added: '700 goals. That's more than I had appearances. He would have been hurting on the bench and that is the answer, he is going out there with something to prove and he is doing it.

'We mentioned moving forward and Ronaldo, class always comes through. He would have been disappointed but 700 goals, to be the decisive one today, if anyone was doubting him he’s put them in their place and the WhatsApp group will be talking.'

The result - secured after Antony had cancelled out Alex Iwobi's opener for the Toffees - leaves Erik ten Hag's resurgent side fifth in the table, one point off fourth-placed Chelsea and the Champions League qualification places.

Cristiano Ronaldo will ACCEPT FA improper conduct for slapping a phone out of a 14-year-old's hand despite Erik ten Hag saying he would contest it... but the Man United forward is determined to fight the threat of a potential ban

* Cristiano Ronaldo was charged by the FA for improper conduct last month
* This came after he slapped a mobile phone out of a fan's hand in April
* Erik ten Hag said the Man United forward was going to contest the charge
* However, it has now been confirmed that Ronaldo will accept the charge after all
* Ronaldo is determined to avoid a ban for the incident at Goodison Park

Cristiano Ronaldo has accepted an FA charge for slapping a mobile phone out of the hand of a teenage fan, but Manchester United will fight to save the Portugal star from a ban.

Ronaldo had until last Monday to respond after he was charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 relating to improper and/or violent conduct.

Ten Hag initially indicated that the 37-year-old would contest the charge when he appeared at a press conference for Thursday’s Europa League tie at home to Omonia Nicosia, saying: ‘We spoke about that. He will not accept it.’

However, United sources later clarified that Ronaldo has accepted it after all, and blamed the mix-up on their Dutch manager misinterpreting the question.

It’s understood that Ten Hag was referring to Ronaldo’s determination to fight against the threat of a suspension, and United are ready to back their player all the way.

A disciplinary panel will now sit to decide on his punishment, with a fine or warning among the other options.

The charge stems from an incident in April when the player was filmed slapping the phone away from 14-year-old fan Jake Harding as he limped off the pitch following United’s defeat at Everton. Ronaldo subsequently issued a public apology and received a caution from Merseyside Police.

No-one at United is disputing the incident took place, but the club want to support Ronaldo by offering context and mitigations around it in the hope of avoiding a multi-game ban.

Cristiano Ronaldo was filmed appearing to knock a phone out of the hand of a 14-year-old autistic Everton supporter when Manchester United played there in April. Ronaldo, 37, has been charged with improper conduct by the FA, and he will accept the charge. Erik ten Hag initially said Ronaldo would contest the charge, but it is understood he misinterpreted the question

It’s understood that will include Ronaldo’s apology and an invitation for the fan to watch a game at Old Trafford as his guest.

Ronaldo’s return to Goodison last weekend had a happier ending as he reached a career landmark of 700 club goals by scoring United’s winner.

Ten Hag believes the greatest goal scorer of all time is now ready to meet the demands he expects of his players after a difficult start to the season dominated by Ronaldo’s desire to leave.

‘I want to support him as good as possible,’ said the United boss. ‘We have a certain demand on players, what we expect from him in certain positions on the pitch. What I do, as with other players, is I want to get the best out of them.

‘He is getting in better shape now and I am happy with that, so he can contribute more to the squad and I'm sure he will do.

‘In the start, it was definitely the case – and it’s proven once again – that no-one can miss pre-season.’

Ronaldo is set to lead the attack again on Thursday in the absence of Anthony Martial as United look to repeat their win over Omonia in Cyprus last week.

Ten Hag wants his team to beat Real Sociedad to first place in Group E so they avoid an extra two-legged tie in the knockout round of 32.

‘It's clear we want to avoid that,’ he added. ‘I told the players weeks ago that it’s important to get No.1 in this group.

‘It's Europe, it's tough, we want to be No.1 in the group, so we have to win the game. We will go all out for the victory.

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo receives his lowest Ballon d'Or ranking for 17 YEARS as five-time winner finishes in 20th place... while PSG's Lionel Messi isn't even on the shortlist

* Cristiano Ronaldo has finished in 20th place in the Ballon d'Or rankings
* It is the lowest finish Ronaldo has had since he also finished 20th in 2005
* Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi failed to make the shortlist for the award

Cristiano Ronaldo has received his lowest Ballon d'Or ranking for 17 years.

The Manchester United star finished in 20th place, which is the same position in which he finished in 2005.

Ronaldo, who has never been lower than 20th, has won the Ballon d'Or on five occasions, with the last coming in 2017.

Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi, who has frequently competed with Ronaldo for the prize, failed to make the shortlist.

Messi has won a record seven Ballons d'Or, including in 2021.

Last season Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 games for United after making a sensational return to the club.

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo finished in 20th place in the Ballon d'Or rankings. Ronaldo also finished in 20th in 2005 and this is the lowest finish he has had since then. Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the season during which he has mostly been a substitute. Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi wasn't included on the shortlist for this year's Ballon d'Or

The Portugal international was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer transfer window after telling the club he wanted to leave but a deal failed to materialise and he ended up staying.

Ronaldo has endured a difficult start to the campaign during which he has scored just twice and has mainly been a substitute.

The 37-year-old started just his second Premier League game of the season in the 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Sunday.

Messi, meanwhile, scored eleven times for PSG last season, which is short of his usual high standards.

The Argentine has started this season in impressive form and has already found the net on eight occasions.

The winner of the prize is set to be announced at a glittering ceremony in Paris on Monday. According to reports, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is set to scoop the award.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag insists he does NOT have a problem with Cristiano Ronaldo showing his frustration when subbed off against Newcastle... after the forward's sister blasted the Dutchman for the switch

* Erik ten Hag says he is fine with Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to being subbed off
* The Man United star left the pitch shaking his head and muttering to himself
* Ronaldo, 37, barely acknowledged Red Devils manager Ten Hag as he walked off

Erik ten Hag says he has no issue with Cristiano Ronaldo's sulky reaction to being substituted against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United star Ronaldo went off shaking his head and muttering to himself when he was replaced by Marcus Rashford in the 72nd minute after having two efforts disallowed in the goalless draw with Eddie Howe's side.

The Portugal star barely acknowledged the Red Devils boss Ten Hag as he left the pitch and continued to express his frustration on the bench.

However, Ten Hag says he understands the player's feelings and has no issue with Ronaldo's reaction as long as doesn't over-step the mark.

He said: 'No player is happy when he comes off, especially not Ronaldo, I understand that. As long as it's in a quiet normal way, no problem with that. Of course he is convinced he should stay on and should score a goal, that is why he's that good.'

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Tottenham at Old Trafford last season, and Ten Hag was asked if he will start the 37-year-old again in the continued absence of Anthony Martial.

He replied: 'I know it and of course you know for a line-up several facts you count on, but other facts you take account of.'

While Martial has again been ruled out with a back strain, Christian Eriksen has returned to training after illness and could face his former club.

'Christian Eriksen returned to team training today and we have to see tomorrow if he has the energy,' said Ten Hag.

Ronaldo's sister Elma Aveiro hit out at Ten Hag for substituting the striker during the clash at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Aveiro was furious with the decision and took to social media to say it's 'too late' for Ten Hag to justify his actions.

She shared a screenshot of a news story with the following title: 'Erik Ten Hag's justification for substituting Cristiano Ronaldo'.

Aveiro wrote the accompanying caption: 'It's too late' and added three sick face emojis - hinting the Dutch manager had officially burnt all bridges.

This is not the first time one of Ronaldo's sisters has taken to social media to speak about a situation involving her brother.

Katia Aveiro accused Portugal fans of being 'forever ungrateful' following criticism of her brother's performances for the national side last month.

'Sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us': Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence after storming out of Old Trafford after refusing to come on against Tottenham... but veteran does NOT say sorry and says 'respect' is 'very important' for him

* Cristiano Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel after refusing to be brought on
* The Portuguese was left on the bench for Manchester United's win over Spurs
* Forward has endured toughest campaign of career to date with little game time
* Erik ten Hag has settled on other forward options as he looks to rebuild club

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence after storming out of Old Trafford on Thursday evening having refused to be brought on against Tottenham.

The Portuguese was named on the bench for Manchester United's clash against Tottenham and watched on as his team-mates produced arguably their performance under Erik ten Hag to date as they beat Antonio Conte's side 2-0.

With minutes remaining in the game, Ronaldo was seen to march down the touchline and into the tunnel, clearly reeling from having not been more involved in the game. The Portuguese left the ground. It is believed post-match celebrations continued afoot despite the attention having largely been directed to the recalcitrant Portuguese.

Writing on Instagram, Ronaldo sought to offer something resembling his side of the story, noting that 'respect' played a big role in his decision making.

The former Real Madrid forward wrote: 'As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed.

Cristiano Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel after being an unused substitute vs Tottenham. Erik ten Hag told the press after the game that he would deal with Ronaldo on Thursday

'I haven’t changed. I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision making process.'

It is unclear whether or not Ronaldo is referencing having felt a distinct lack of respect from the club and Ten Hag in his direction.

He added: 'I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented.

'Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment get’s the best of us.

'Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again.'

United released a statement on Thursday revealing Ronaldo had been banished from their squad for the trip to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon while it is believed he will be training away from the senior squad for the time being.

It had been believed that Ronaldo's anger had been owing to not having been brought on, but Sportsmail revealed on Thursday afternoon that the forward, who returned to United after more than a decade away last year, had in fact declined to come on.

Ronaldo this season has struggled for starts in the league under Ten Hag, with the Dutchman largely opting for quicker forwards who are more willing and able to press.

Ronaldo sat on the bench for much of the game before storming down the tunnel at the end

Having made a rare start against Newcastle on Sunday, Ronaldo was left frustrated having been withdrawn for Marcus Rashford with United still needing a goal to win the game. It finished 0-0.

Reports of a constrained relationship between him and the former Ajax boss, who arrived at United this summer, have been abound since Ronaldo's refusal to travel on the club's pre-season tour as he looked to force a move away to a Champions League club.

With the lid now seemingly blown on the public relationship between the two, it remains to be seen whether or not Ronaldo is at the club beyond January.

Exiled Cristiano Ronaldo 'is open to Italy return with Napoli in January'... with Serie A leaders 'interested' in adding Portuguese superstar amid growing tensions at Old Trafford

* Napoli reportedly ready to offer Cristiano Ronaldo route out of Man United
* The attacker is currently exiled from the first-team by manager Erik ten Hag
* Ronaldo would need to take a massive pay cut in order to make a move happen

Napoli are reportedly 'interested' in signing Manchester United veteran striker Cristiano Ronaldo, with the striker believed to be ready to take a pay cut in order to help a move.

The Portuguese icon is currently exiled from the first team at Manchester United after manager Erik ten Hag banned him from training after his actions during the game against Tottenham last week.

Ronaldo is now believed to be heading for the exit door at Old Trafford, with a return to Serie A now on the cards, according to The Sun.

The report suggests that Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle were interested in signing him but Manchester United believed a move to a rival club to be 'too risky'.

A source The Sun: 'Chelsea were interested in Ronaldo over the summer, but he is no longer on their radar. Arsenal and Newcastle realise the quality he would bring in helping them to achieve their ambitions.

'But both clubs worry about the wider impact his arrival could have on the clubs. The most likely destination now is Italy. Napoli were interested in Ronaldo over the summer and are still keen.

'Adding him to their squad is a step they believe will help in their aim to remain top of Serie A and to progress through the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way out of Manchester United with Napoli interested. Ronaldo was exiled from the Red Devils squad by manager Erik ten Hag after the Spurs game. Ronaldo has already played in Italy as he enjoyed a good spell with Serie A giants Juventus

'But it will come down to whether the club can match the eye-watering wage demands.'

One obstacle that would need to be sorted in order to facilitate a transfer would be Ronaldo's wages.

The Red Devils attacker is reportedly earning £360-per-week, whereas Napoli's highest earner, Piotr Zielinski, is only on a weekly salary of £90k.

However, Ronaldo could be happy to take another pay cut so he can force a move to Serie A, a league that he has already impressed in during his time with Juventus.

Juventus 'promised to pay Cristiano Ronaldo £17MILLION during the pandemic in secret documents despite announcing salary reductions'... with the Italian side under investigation for 'falsifying accounts' over three years

* Juventus 'secretly agreed to pay Cristiano Ronaldo £17m during the pandemic'
* The Italian club said their players were waiving four months wages in that period
* Investigators 'found hidden documents signed between Ronaldo and the club'
* As a result, the Italian giants 'are now under investigation for falsifying accounts'

Investigators have reportedly discovered secret documents signed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus, which show the club promising their former striker almost €20million (£17m) during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a result, the Italian giants — who had announced hefty salary reductions during that period — are under investigation for falsifying accounts, according to reports.

Juventus revealed in March 2020 that their players were waiving four months of wages because of the pandemic, and investigators are now trying to prove that this was not case.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A club are suspected of having falsified their balance sheets during 2019, 2020 and 2021.

In addition, 16 of the club's chiefs — including president Andrea Agnelli and vice president Pavel Nedved — are under investigation as confirmed by the Turin prosecutor.

Italy's financial police Guardia Di Finanza are in the process of searching for private documents and agreements between the club and its players during this three-year period.

According to the Italian outlet, investigators have already found a secret document signed by Ronaldo and the club, which emerged from wiretaps of some of Juventus' directors last December.

The report states that Juventus had promised to pay Ronaldo €19.9m even if he left the Serie A side, and prosecutors believe the agreement was not registered in the club's financial declaration.

Fellow Italian newspaper La Stampa revealed on Monday that the 37-year-old had refused to talk to the Turin prosecutor when asked for a statement on the matter.

Secret documents 'show that Juventus agreed to pay Cristiano Ronaldo £17million in 2020'. The club announced that their players were waiving four months wages during the pandemic. Juventus and club president Andrea Agnelli 'are under investigation for falsifying accounts'

Juventus had reportedly been cleared of the accusation by the Sporting Justice earlier this year and clarified on Tuesday: 'Salary reductions agreed with footballers in March 2020 would have been negotiated once competitions resumed and stadiums were reopened.'

In a statement, Juventus told Sportsmail: 'It is important to remember that the subject of capital gains for so-called swap transactions is the one from which the whole investigation by the Turin Public Prosector's Office, which ended yesterday, began.

'This is an issue today that does not warrant news, insofar that two sports justice bodies have already recognised the full accounting regularity of the company, which has acted in full consistency with the practice of the football industry.

'As for salary reductions, as well as other related costs and changes, these are key corporate government initiatives adopted during the emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to the suspension of football competitions and the closure of stadiums.

'The company, during a press release dated March 28 2020, made known, in full transparency to the market and to the shareholders, a reduction in salaries agreed with the players, pointing out that any additions to the remuneration would be negotiated and paid if or when the sports competitions were resumed and the stadiums were reopened.

'This exceptional time of emergency and uncertainty lasted, as is well known, from the 2019-20 football season up until the entire 2020-21 season, given that only in the spring of 2022 were the stadiums fully reopened to the public.

'The company therefore accounted for any changes to the salaries and any additions to the remuneration, in line with their progress and in compliance with accounting regulations.

'As for the general objection of having falsified the financial statements and having made improper communications to the market, Juventus and its representatives believe that they have been operated in compliance with the laws and relevant technical accounting principles.

'Moreover, during the years of interest, Juventus has distinguished itself for having initiated, in full transparency and in full compliance with the regulations, two different capital increases. These transactions have solidified Juventus as a powerhouse in the landscape of Italian football.

'In particular, the second capital increase, launched autonomously by the company in June 2021, that occurred a few months before the investigation by the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office became known, had the aim of strengthening the company's assets following the strong impact of the pandemic.

'The amounts of these capital increases exceed the figures claimed within the formal disputes of this investigation, which in any case would have no effect on the company's debt.'

Default Re: Cristiano Ronaldo

'He didn't give up... and in the end he got his reward': Erik ten Hag praises Cristiano Ronaldo's perseverance after he scored his first Old Trafford goal of the season in the 81st minute against Sheriff Tiraspol having missed a host of chances before

* Cristiano Ronaldo started in Manchester United's victory over Sheriff Tiraspol

* Erik ten Hag praised Ronaldo after scoring his first Old Trafford goal this season
* He had banished Ronaldo after the forward refused to come on last week

Erik ten Hag praised Cristiano Ronaldo's perseverance after the Manchester United star came in from the cold to score on his return last night.

Ronaldo, who was banished from the first-team squad for refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham last week and leaving Old Trafford early, finally struck in the 81st minute after missing a string of chances and having a goal disallowed.

'He didn't give up,' said Ten Hag. 'I think that's what he's done his whole career, and in the end he got his reward for it.

'The team kept going to put him in the right position, and he kept going to get himself in the right position.' Ronaldo was outshone by Alejandro Garnacho who enjoyed a fantastic full debut.

However, Ten Hag had a warning for the Argentine teenager after revealing that he has not been happy with Garnacho's attitude in recent weeks.

'I think it was a good performance for him,' added the United boss. 'He did what I expected him to do. First, he deserved a chance.

'The last weeks, a start was difficult for him because I was not happy with him. But the last weeks, I was happy with him.

Ronaldo finally scored with less than ten minutes to go in the 3-0 win in the Europa League. Erik ten Hag, who banished Ronaldo from the squad last week after the Portuguese star refused to come on against Tottenham, praised him for his perseverance against Sheriff

'He had a better attitude, more resilience, more determination and what you see he has the talent.

'It's young kids. They have to grow and know what are the demands of top football. It's not only about a trick or scoring one goal, we have to win football games.

'Every day you have to fulfil the highest standards and we have to teach that.' Ten Hag also played down suggestions that he substituted Antony at half-time as punishment for an outrageous piece of showboating.

'It was more or less planned,' said the Dutchman. 'I don't have a problem with that as long as it's functional.

'If you're not losing the ball then it's OK but if it's a trick because of a trick then I will correct him.'
