KROENKE CLOSER TO GUNNERS BID

American businessman Stan Kroenke has edged closer to a takeover of Arsenal.

Kroenke has increased his stake in the Premier League club three times already this year and did so again on Thursday.

The Gunners announced that Kroenke has spent £765,000 ($1.2million) buying 90 shares to increase his holding from 28.7 to 28.9 per cent.

That is a fraction short of the 30 per cent threshold that would trigger a mandatory offer for the remaining shares, although Kroenke has previously said he is not interested in pursuing a full buy-out.

Kroenke has made his personal fortune from real estate, which is estimated to be around $3.5billion (£2.2billion).

He first acquired shares in the London giants when buying a 9.9% stake in April 2007 and has gradually increased his holding, joining the club's board of directors in September 2008.

The 62-year-old has been praised as a "model owner" by Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis and owns American MLS franchise Colorado Rapids, with whom Arsenal have a technical link-up.

He is a keen sports fan and also owns basketball team Denver Nuggets and ice hockey team Colorado Avalanche, along with a 40% share in American football's St Louis Rams.

TRANSFER TALK UPSETS EBOUE

Emmanuel Eboue has reiterated his commitment to Arsenal amid speculation linking him with a switch to Atletico Madrid.

The Ivory Coast international was a transfer target for Fiorentina over the summer after a difficult few months at Emirates Stadium last season.

But a move failed to materialise and he has started the new campaign in fine form, helping the Gunners notch some impressive results.

Rumours have nevertheless surfaced to suggest that Eboue could soon be on his way to Atletico, with Spanish newspaper Supersport claiming a deal is close to being agreed.

Eboue has insisted there is no truth in the stories as he is still loving life with Arsenal.

"I am upset with all those links, it is paper talk," the 26-year-old told skysports.com.

"I have been linked all summer to Fiorentina, now it is Atletico.

"I don't know where they get the news but I am fine at Arsenal. I love this club."

Alkmaar - Kemenangan yang sudah di pelupuk mata buyar di menit-menit terakhir pertandingan. Arsenal pun harus puas membawa pulang satu angka dari lawatannya di kandang wakil Belanda, AZ Alkmaar.

Pada matchday 3 Liga Champions Grup H di DSB Stadiumt, Rabu (21/10/2009), dinihari WIB, kedua tim berbagi skor 1-1. Tuan rumah terhindar dari kekalahan melalui gol David Mendes da Silva di menit 90. Sebelumnya The Gunners memimpin sejak menit 36 melalui gol kapten Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal masih berada di puncak klasemen sementara dengan nilai tujuh dari tiga pertandingan, sedangkan AZ naik satu peringkat ke urutan tiga dengan dua poin.

Posisi runner up diisi Olympiakos (6) yang di saat bersamaan berhasil mengalahkan Standard Liege dengan skor 2-1 di Athena. Tertinggal lebih dulu oleh gol Igor de Camardo di menit 27, Olympiakos membalikkan kedudukan lewat gol Konstantinos Mitroglue (43) dan Ieroklis Stoltidis di menit 90. ( a2s / nar )

Van Persie Terancam Absen Dua Bulan



Pescara - Kabar buruk untuk Arsenal. Striker mereka, Robin van Persie, mengalami cedera dalam laga persahabatan antara Belanda vs Italia. Ia pun terancam absen dua bulan.

Pada pertandingan yang dihelat di Pescara, Minggu (15/11/2009) dinihari WIB, itu, Van Persie hanya bermain selama 15 menit. Akibat berbenturan dengan Giorgio Chiellini, ia harus ditandu keluar lapangan. Tempatnya kemudian digantikan oleh Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Seusai pertandingan, pelatih Belanda, Bert Van Marwijk mengindikasikan bahwa Van Persie mengalami cedera di bagian engkel. Tes lanjutan terhadap pemain berusia 26 tahun ini akan dilakukan besok.

Diberitakan oleh Sportinglife, ada kemungkinan Van Persie bakal absen selama dua bulan. Itu artinya, jika benar, ia baru bisa merumput lagi pada bulan Januari tahun depan.

Untuk The Gunners, ini bukanlah berita menyenangkan. Mengingat Van Persie sangat tajam di liga--sudah mencetak tujuh gol dalam 11 laga--Arsene Wenger butuh goal getter pengganti.

Apalagi mengingat periode akhir tahun adalah periode ketat dalam sepak bola Inggris, hilangnya Van Persie bisa menjadi batu sandungan bagi Arsenal dalam perburuan gelar juara.

DARREN BENT was on cloud nine after bringing Arsenal's stars crashing down to earth.

The ex-Spurs hitman saw off his old rivals by scrambling the winner in the 71st minute.

And prolific Bent's ninth of the season was enough to send the Gunners home empty-handed.

The £12million man made little impression for England in last week's friendly with Brazil.

But Sunderland boss Steve Bruce insists Bent has proven he can mix it with the very best.

Asked if he would pick him the World Cup squad, Bruce said: "Absolutely, 100 per cent. It's not just his goalscoring, his appetite and his work-rate are absolutely unbelievable.

"He played on his own today and ran a million miles for the team.

"For me, he would have to be in because he scores a goal - he has scored against all the big clubs.

"I don't think he is going to be judged on a 55-minute friendly in Qatar. I don't think Mr Capello will take any notice of that."

Eduardo had been called upon to lead the line for Arsenal — but it was Tomas Rosicky, sitting behind the front line, who had the first chance.

Fabregas hooked back Bacary Sagna's deep cross, setting up Rosicky 15 yards out.

The Czech ace unleashed a low volley, but keeper Marlon Fulop was up to the task and blocked with his legs.

Arsenal had another sniff when Eduardo latched on to John Mensah's tame header. Fabregas then drove over as the visitors set up shop in the Black Cats' half.

In a rare foray into Gunners territory, Steed Malbranque fired high and wide.

And the ex-Spurs man wasted another chance on 19 minutes, slashing Andy Reid's cross over the bar.

French pair Sagna and William Gallas were booed as the Stadium of Light had their say on France's handball shame.

But on the pitch, Wenger's men were in control with young Aaron Ramsey seeing plenty of the ball.

Alex Song and Eduardo carved the home side up 13 minutes before the break — and were desperately unlucky not to seize the lead.

Song surged into the Sunderland half before exchanging passes with the Croatian on the edge of the box.

But when Song chased after Eduardo's return pass the ball ran agonisingly wide of the post.

Armand Traore then left Mensah for dead, but Ramsey couldn't cash in on the cross.

Kieran Richardson got a ticking off after tripping Fabregas, who had threatened to burst through with 48 minutes gone.

But Arsenal did nothing with the free-kick as the home defence stood firm.

The Gunners were under the cosh four minutes later — but Traore nicked the ball off onrushing Bent.

Sunderland won a free-kick after Cana's clever back-heel flummoxed Song and lured him into a foul.

Reid took control 30 yards out — but Manuel Almunia was able to watch the ball fly past the post.

Wenger's response was to replace Ramsey with Andrey Arshavin on the hour.

Bruce made his first change with 66 minutes gone when he replaced Malbranque with Frazier Campbell.

The newcomer made an impact within five minutes — although he may not have known a lot about it.

Bent's header from a Reid corner came back off his legs and his strike partner pounced on the rebound.

Wenger immediately sent on Theo Walcott and Carlos Vela for Rosicky and Eduardo, but time was fast running out.

The home side were relieved to see Arshavin shoot into the side netting from Song's 87th-minute cross.

And the Gunners were furious not to be awarded a penalty for Campbell's injury-time challenge on Vela.

Gunners hit by Robin KO



ARSENAL have been rocked after Robin van Persie was ruled out for FIVE months.

The Dutch star, 26, suffered torn ankle ligaments during Holland's goalless draw against Italy on November 14.

He was initially expected to miss upto six weeks with the injury and hoped to return sooner after having controversial placenta treatment in Serbia.

But the Gunners' medical staff have reviewed Van Persie's situation and decided he must have surgery.

The striker will go under the knife in Amsterdam next week and will be out until April at the earliest.

An Arsenal statement said: "Having scrutinised these in detail and assessed the response of his ankle, the club's medical team concluded that further investigation and opinion was required.

"Advice was sought from the leading ankle specialist Mr Niek van Dijk, who confirmed that more extensive damage had been suffered than was first diagnosed.

"In order to repair his ankle, Robin will undergo surgery next week in Amsterdam to reconstruct the ligaments.

"The club's medical team anticipate that a full recovery will take between four and five months."

Wenger: Piala Carling Tak Masuk Hitungan

Jakarta - Manajer Arsenal Arsene Wenger tak kecewa dengan lepasnya kesempatan meraih trofi Piala Carling. Ia memang tak memasukkan kompetisi tersebut dalam hitungan targetnya.

Kesemaptan Arsenal untuk meraih satu trofi di musim ini pupus, usai mereka disingkirkan Manchester City di Piala Carling, Kamis (3/12/2009) dinihari WIB.

Padahal bagi tim London Merah, trofi dalam kejuaraan apa pun bakal memiliki arti yang tinggi. Ini mengingat mereka sudah puasa gelar sejak tahun 2005.

Meski begitu Wenger tak menyesal bahwa satu gelar dipastikan lepas. Manajer berjuluk The Professor ini mengatakan bahwa Piala Carling memang tak masuk hitungannya.

"Kami memang belum pernah juara di kompetisi apa pun sejak 2005. Namun saya tidak yakin bahwa bila kami juara Piala Carling musim ini, kami bisa berkata: kami telah meraih trofi," ujar Wenger seperti dilansir dari situs resmi Arsenal.

Dalam laga melawan City Wenger memang tak menurunkan tim regulernya. "Menurut saya kompetisi ini merupakan ajang untuk kami mengembangkan pemain-pemain muda," tandas arsitek asal Prancis itu.

Wenger mengatakan bahwa sebenarnya untuk menjadi juara di kompetisi yang juga bernama Piala Liga ini bukan hal sulit bagi timnya. Jadi kegagalan ini disebabkan oleh keputusannya yang memang melepas kejuaraan ini.

"Untuk kami bisa tampil di perempatfinal, semifinal, atau final Liga Champions adalah sepuluh kali lebih sulit dibanding juara Piala Carling," tutupnya.

permain bagus dijula...katanya bagus tuk profit club...di lain sisi saat oleng krn keseimbangan tim terganggu, wenger beli pemain jadi mahal macam arshavin, terus ...dimana untungnya ?
